No Joke: Texans may have something

In case you missed it, the Texans defeated the Cowboys 28-16 Saturday in what has become one of the great preseason rivalries in football. It would be easy to mock Houston for creating a playoff atmosphere surrounding the game, so that's exactly what I intend to do.

No, actually I'm hear to praise the Texans for showing signs that their franchise may be headed in the right direction. It's taken quarterback Matt Schaub three preseason games to win this city over. On Saturday, he was once again superb, completing 12-of-16 passes for 109 yards and two touchdowns. Yes, the Cowboys were missing one of their top players in cornerback Terence Newman, but that shouldn't take away from Schaub's performance.

Well if Wade is making excuses for his team might as well count them out.

Last time I checked (and I did read the post game quotes) Wade wasn't too happy with how they performed and the rest of the Cowgirls like T.O. said they just got beat. So if their coach and star player can man up, they can man up and take the loss also.

Since their starters couldn't out perform our first string or our second string guys...

so wade phillips knew that the texans were stacking the line, but he decided to run anyway?

sounds like bad coaching, if one were to ask me...

i can't believe people won't admit when they just flat out got beat. they blitzed often, and often we threw or ran to the hole the blitzer left. i'm being pretty black and white about it but we won 28-16. that's a pretty dominating score. schaub was great, looking like the true field general. ahman showed he still has the explosion through holes and can still break tackles. j & j ran around the defensive a bunch, jones put his mark on the endzone after another punt. did you see the cowboys kicking away from him? what are they? scared? i thought this was just the preseason...the o line contained the defense to an acceptable standard. by no means are we saying this is THE o line of the nfl, but those boys played well. the d line was getting consistent pressure, and our secondary was weak. i can handle watching this type of team without throwing things or cursing at an inanimate object (t.v.). the national media doesn't want to recognize improvement? whatever, we'll do just fine sneaking up on people and blowing up in their faces.

cowboys fans...psht...there isn't a smiley with a big enough eye roll for anyone to get just how much i'm rolling my eyes.

But that's fun... :shades:

Of course, as he praises the Texans later he gives his rankings:

The Texans are rated 29th:

Patriots
Colts
Chargers
Bears
Ravens
Saints

Steelers
Cowboys
Broncos
Seahawks
Jets
Panthers
Jaguars
Bengals
49ers
Rams
Lions
Titans
Giants
Bills
Redskins
Dolphins
Cardinals
Falcons
Packers
Chiefs
Bucs

I guess that means they don't need to play the games now.

WOW....I mean....WOW!!!!!!!!!! The Bucs, Cheifs, Cardinals, Dolphins, Falcons, Redskins, Bills, and Titans are ranked above us.......I can't wait to laugh at this at the end of the year! :fans:

To me that is going to be the biggest difference between this year and the "past"..

David Carr never demonstrated the ability to think on the run or doing things like throwing or running where the blitz came from.

This is going to a whole different year and I'm looking forward to it.

cowboys fans...psht...there isn't a smiley with a big enough eye roll for anyone to get just how much i'm rolling my eyes.

There's one on another board (or at least it used to be there) that would be perfect, I think. It's a gigantic rolling eyes smiley that is continuously vomiting out regular sized rolling eyes smilies. :D

It's so big that it screws up the smiley page though.

The one point which I've heard from Cowboy fans that really gets me is the "well it's only preseason and you guys obviously were trying harder than us" line. I watched the game again last night and take a look at the first running play when the Cowboy LB stuck Ahman Green in the backfield. Check out the celebration afterward and tell me that the boys weren't pumped up. Of course, Green then proceeded to light them up like Ricky Williams at a Dead show.

Fact is, we were pumped, they were pumped, we worked them, they're embarrased.

That was my first reaction, too. Mosley is a homer, which is not a big deal unless you are writing the only NFL blog for the WWL, and a jerk, which is not a big deal unless you want people to take you seriously.

Not that I think this list means anything because I know we'll be much better than what he's placed us at but honestly how could he put the bucs ahead of us. On paper, what do they have better than us? Their O-line is just as bad as ours and their qb situation isn't the greatest. I'll take our recievers over theirs. Only thing I see as better than ours is ronde.

I am really glad that Wade Phillips is the new coach. I respect him and his dad. Both are the type to step up and say "we just got whupped". I want to root for the Cowboys as a team of Texas. Over the years some of the players, the owner and some of the fans made me root against Dallas. The team motto does not have to be "thugs are us." The game should be a wake up call to Dallas and hopefully they can look back after a win at the Super Bowl and thank the Texans for a butt whupping.

Pre season game or not it was VERY significant for Texans and the fans. The W is cool but this confidence builder for all of us points to the team being on the right track. We kind of hope it was so and now there is sold fact. Come on down KC! I want to introduce you our new team. "Butt whuppings R US."

The thing about this ranking is that it how just how safe it is for someone who only looks at last years final standing and then only shifts around the sure things. I thinks that's cool though. As a true fan I have lived in the agony just as all of you have and as pissed as I get when I see this crap, I realize that we will only change peoples opinions or any rankinkings once we play well consistantly. Let's face it, we have a lot to be excited abut, but it's still an uphill climb and there are a lot of paradigms to be broken, like 30 plus in a regular season game, 3-4 game regular season winning streak(s), beating a contender in the stretch. It's not just one of these things, but 2-3 of these in a season to open the eyes and erase the pushover stigma that we have around the country. I've got a great feeling about this team and if we come out playing with this same kind of drive, you'll see the Texans in the top 15-18 in power rankings by week 5.

The first step is to admit that there is a problem. The Cowgirl fans don't have a problem They Drink, They talk crap, They fall down...No Problem!!!

did the saints really come out of nowhere to win last year. maybe there were a bunch of saints fans that could see they were going to be good last year and no one cared.

i mean i dont expect people to be picking us to win the superbowl but these guys making predictions are not really doing anything but looking at last years records giving a team an extra win or a lose and calling that their predictions.

its not just the texans either. every team is basically right were they were last year.
