Glenn Earl

TexaninKorea

Practice Squad
:hmmm: I'm currently serving in Korea so I didn't get to watch but two of my Texans games. I was wonder what ya'll thought of Glenn Earl. He had to start his position as a rookie, and I've read the message boards but nobody says anything about him. Is he a quality talent? Since nobody has said anything bad about him I guess he hasn't done a half bad job. Any insight is welcome, is this guy our FS of the future?

He actually played pretty good for a rookie. Most rookies are criticized by missed tackles or assignments..but we didn't hear too much about him..which in turn is good.

He did beat out our SS Eric Brown after the Broncos game, so that should be an indication on his progress.

I think that he will have the chance to show his stuff next year, he should be fully over his knee injury and has had time in the Texans defense to get used to playing in the NFL.

Earl played pretty well as a rookie. He was forced into the starting lineup due to injuries, and he did better than I expected. He has somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 tackles, and he hasn't really had any 'Big' plays but he's done his job well. He seems to make his run/pass reads pretty well, and he is quick to react. I feel next season he'll make a bigger impact since he'll be more familiar with the defense, and he'll probably make his share of big plays for our defense. There is a rating of the Texans rookie class in the Great Blue North Draft Reports evaluation of the 2004 Draft, and Glenn Earl is mentioned.

I'll put it this way. Once he became the starting FS, our defense became more aggressive and QBs had a hard time making that 20+ yard throw. Except for the last game of the season.

I think he was our starting SS (in place of Brown). I think McCree played FS when Coleman went down.

I stand corrected. Either way he made a huge difference. As matter of fact, I kind of liked the way our secondary played when he and Mcree took over. A little more swagger.

Earl played pretty well, especially in run support. But i agree when when earl and mcree took over it seemed as if our secondary gave up less big plays and really held their own !
