Another year, another, same lousy results

Working?
In the land of the Houston Texans, the Defensive Line has become the new Offensive Line. Just when the team finally gets one side of the trenches under control, the other side slips backward even further.

Getting an effective pass rush has always been a problem for us. And so what do we do? We switch up schemes, we hire new coaches, sign high priced FAs, and we pick talented defensive line prospects in the 1st round. For years. And years. In a row. And what do we end up with?

The same lousy product as the year before.

Watching them attempt to get to Matt Leinart tonight was a joke. They got manhandled. He scrambled, he sat back in the pocket, he picked us part. And the Cardinals offensive line is supposed to be WORSE than ours!

And then things go really bad. Our 1st string DL stayed in to play against the backup offensive line of the AZ Cards! These guys aren't even good enough to start in Arizona. And what happens? Kurt Warner sits back, takes his time, and picks us apart.

Is anyone else getting a little concerned? Even when we blitzed we couldn't get pressure!

I think we're expecting too much from D-linemen with little or no experience. Yes, Mario should be doing more, but not that much considering what little experience he has.

Otherwise, I'll just say that I didn't want to take him with the #1 pick anyway.

I kind of feel the same way. We have been subjected to such terrible football these past 5 years that it is a revelation when we have a QB and offense perform like a competent NFL offense.

Schaub and Sage were great. JJ is awesome and makes plays. He should get at least 10 touches a game.

That being said, our $54 million DL is a complete utter disappointment and instead of being a strength is a weakness along with our terrible safeties. Von Hutchins should start. To be a contender, we need BOTH to be good. Now you can be a Super Bowl team with a great defense and mediocre offense but even the Colts showed that a great offensive team still needs a competent defense. The reason why they won the Supe is because their D turned around. Our offense best case scenario will hopefully be top 10 in the NFL. I don't think anyone thinks we will challenge NE, SD, NO, and the Colts for best NFL offense.

If MW and AO are busts or are not IMMEDIATE impact players, that will be a ditch that will be too hard to get out of.

Well, don't hold your breath, because it's gonna take more than a few preseason games to know if they are busts are not.

The cost of our D-Line brings up another point with me: rookies shouldn't get paid so dang much. They haven't proven anything yet, and most of them can't yet.

Well from what i am seeing first we are playing top notch nfl teams in preseason . Second it is my opinion that the defensive coach is putting his first and second or maybe second string players together . Mixing them so as to keep a comfort level low and challenge each player to new levels . Also there seems to be a limit to how many schemes and stunts being used . So lets hope a better product is in store for the regular season . If this game had been first string all game I think we would have lost it , AZ is a seriously good team this year !

I believe we'll be contending for the playoffs.

I liked what I seen. I seen a team play today that I haven't seen play for a very very long time. A team with composure and confidence.

It WILL be contagious.
