Did We See Enough Of Van Pelt?

Is he still in camp getting reps that might be better served going to Porter or Zabransky?

C'mon Kubes, you gave the guy his 15 minutes to impress the league.

Or am I being too harsh?

I never need to hear the name Bradlee Van Pelt again.

I'm in the "I've seen too much" camp....he was simply awful last Saturday.....just awful. The passes that were not close to the receivers where his best passes. The ones close the the wr's were floating and the Bears should have picked at least one or two of them. I don't have a clue why he is still on the team.

If I never see him in a professional football game again, it will be too soon. The guy was beyond awful. The guy makes David Carr look like John Elway. :gun:

to be a successfull qb in the nfl, you have to at least have a solid base knowledge in your fundamental skills. Van Pelt was terrible by any standard. Sloppy footwork, no reading ability, no pocket poise, horrible arm, no game management skills, hell, not even scrappyness. He is a waste of a jersey.

I'd like to see Zabransky more. Of course, I'm not too concerned on who our 3rd QB is going to be. If it comes down to that, then our season is probably going to be a failure anyway.

I know! I know! He can tag team with Pac Man and stand in the ring pointing to himself saying "BVP. (RVD)BVP."

He didn't look any better last night in camp. Besides, I like JZ, he's a nice guy.

I agree. VP was terrible last night. He and Porter both were very bad.

BTW, who's the guy you hang with that wears the cowboy hat? Does he frequent the MB? I've seen him at every event thus far.:texflag:

The only time I ever want to see Van Pelt play QB again is if he's wearing a Cowboys or Titans uniform. Then I can enjoy his suckiness.

I like Van Pelt's attitude ever since college when he ran in a TD and spiked it off the defenders head, but it's hard to think that he'll last another week in the pre-season. I'd be more inclined to say he has a better chance making it as a RB.

You LIKE that? I thought that was a mark against him.

Good point. Too, he throws the same way in practice--what is that doing to receivers?...talk about unfair.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think it was Porter that did so well last pre-season-will he see the light of day?

Kubes and his 'buddy' system left us w/o a b/u last year-if our starter went down, Van Pelt would have been 'the man.'

I don't think we carried 3 QB's on the active roster last year.

After Sage was injured we had VP and Porter both on the roster. Porter was brought up from the PS and VP was an off the street pick up who was learning the playbook(which after watching him thus far, never quite learned it). :)

sure they were on the team but on game day the team only carries a certain amount of players...we usually only have two QB's on the active gameday roster. I don't know who was active that day...I could probably look it up easily though.

Watching Van Pelt was possibly the hardest I've laughed in ages at afootball game. The guy looked like a complete novice out there. If someone had offered a random fan the chance to play QB, Im sure he would have done better than Van Pelt.

1 for 7, and the only pass you complete is to yourself? Thats the stuff of SNL skits, not the NFL

I hope hestay on the roster just for comic relief. Once we get to the regular seaason, if he's still on b aord, you can bet that he's got something on Kubiak. Maybe hes the father of his daughters kid or something

how could you laugh at that? It made me want to chunk stuff at the TV.

They were both on the gameday roster behind YKW after Sage got hurt. I remember seeing both of them on the sideline during the game.:)

It wasn't the same game that Sage was hurt in.

Who went to last night's practice? I went to three other practices and BVP was easily the worse of the guys that lined up under center.

I think Kubiak must have promised his dad that he'd give the kid every opportunity to show what he could do. But even family favors have limits.

I'm sure only one of them was designated as the "emergency" QB (you can have one QB that isn't active designated as the "emergency QB" I think)...I don't think either were on the active game day roster otherwise.....but I'm currently looking that up.

Ah ok.

I searched for a few minutes with no success. I've got to do a little work every now and again.

Despite numerous critics, Van Pelt insists that he is a quarterback, while many believe he could be a standout special teams/defensive back or drop linebacker. A very physical player, Van Pelt dedicates himself to developing himself in the weight room and in the film room.

Can we try him out at safety? BTW, his father was a kick a** LB in the NFL.

The title of this thread should be: Have we seen too much of Van Pelt

Someone needs to point VP in a new direction - far, far away from a football. Maybe he would make a good ESPN guy - he probably knows as much as many of their folks do.

I'd seen enough of VP after the first series. I thought he would be kicked off the QB ship this week. :pirate:

While I agree he should be gone, my fear (is terror too strong a word? probably not) is that Kubiak will waste snaps to give him one more live action shot in P/S to show other teams what he can do so he can perhaps catch on with someone else.

man, I hope I'm wrong

Years ago I was on a plane next to a fella. We were talkin' football and he was telling me to watch out for this high school kid. He was gonna be big someday.

Yes, it was our boy Van Pelt...lol

This guy should only get time on Football Follies from here on out. With no NEW footage. Seeing Van Pelt at QB gives me thoughts of  :drunk: :gun:
