That's too bad.

I've always enjoyed watching him play, definitley brought a name to the fullbacks.
Definitley NFLHOF material.

Dang! That's too bad. I loved watching that guy run the football. IIRC, he has had some neck problems in the past. So it might be for the best. He will be a HOFer.

"Alstott up tha gut", will always be remembered.

There was a show on NFLN last night lining out the top 10 power backs of all time. I can't recall the entire list, but Alstott was #10. They showed some of his better runs, and I have to say, the guy had some moments.

Earl made #3, by the way, which was a complete travesty. Riggins was #2, and Jim Brown was #1. Blah.

I would agree with JB being #1, power and speed, he was the best.
But I would say Earl should be #2 over Riggins..But hey, what is a number, in our minds, EC was #1..

Sorry, I have Earl myopia. Best. Running Back. Ever.

Mike Alstott's season, and perhaps his career, is over.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday placed the six-time Pro Bowl fullback on injured reserve with a neck problem that Alstott said was not related to a career-threatening injury that required surgery in 2003.

The team's second all-time leading rusher with 5,088 yards had been preparing for his 12th season, but became concerned when soreness in his neck persisted as training camp progressed at Disney World.

Tests performed by team doctors revealed a new problem, and the decision to place him on IR was made after Alstott consulted with his personal surgeon, who operated on the fullback during the 2003 season.

I've always preferred power backs to the speedsters. It's more fun watching them seek out and destroy defenders than avoid them. It takes its toll though, as evidenced here.

Good luck on your recovery, A-Train.
