The top 3 teams are in a different class in terms of talent than any of the other teams. USC vs Miami.

UT WV Nat'l championship.....Book it...

USC gets through their gauntlet of schedule undefeated, no one will jump them.
That's what you can book Xt.

If they do LSU vs USC.

If USC takes a loss and Texas looses two, LSU looses two:

USC vs West Virgina

'08 USC Schedule

Nov. 3 Oregon State

There's a shocker.....USC is rank #1....is this an ESPN poll? :gun:

USC is the most talented team bar none in the country. They have the best coach in the country. They have veteren players at most positions.

Guys that could go 1st round next year:
Brooking
Magula
Rivers
Ellis the NT
Booty
Baker
Jackson the DE

They have about another 4-5 players who could go first day as well. There isn't really a single team in the country that compares to them. I'm not a USC fanby any means, but looking at them objectivly, they are the most dominant team in the land and it isn't even close.

Alabama
Arkansas
Auburn
Florida Georgia
Kentucky
LSU
Mississippi Mississippi State
South Carolina
Tennessee
Vanderbilt

This is the SEC now who exactly is USC playing?

While acknowleging USC's recruiting and coaching prowess, I don't belive that they would be a perenial #1 if they were in a good conferance. They may have more talent than anyone else, but they aren't as tough as alot of SEC teams. I'm a Big 12 guy, have been since the Big 8, but even I've come to accept that the SEC is the toughest conferance in football. The toughest games on USC's schedule is

Nebraska- picked to be #2 in the Big 12 north by some

Notre Dame- not even top 25

Cal- A solid, but not title contender

Some of my thoughts.

Miami has the talent to vault into the top 15 by mid-season. The biggest thing on that team will be consistant QB play which really has been their achilles heel since Ken Dorsey has left.

USC better be ready to play in Lincoln. That place will be rockin' and the defense will be flying. While Brandon Jackson left they had a 3 headed monster at RB last year and Jackson emerged but the other two aren't slouches. If they can keep the USC offense off the field much like UCLA did last year could be interesting.

Could be Llyod Carr's last year in Ann Arbor. He has a fairly easy schedule and if i remember right play OSU at home. Also has lost 2 Rosebowls. Wisconsin could be Big 10 sleeper pick.

You could make a solid case that Notre Dame has the toughest schedule. This will be a HUGE hurdle for the Charlie Weiss era in South Bend. Ty Willingham's class is gone and Weiss class should replace. A lot to replace on the offensive side of the ball and hope the 3-4 implememntation can somehow help a defense that got burned a lot last year.

3 mid majors will be in the top 25 by the end of the year.

I heard Matt Flynn has the leg up at LSU. With each year on the bench how does that LSU cap look now Perriloux?

I'm with you even though you are a Sooner!!:coolb: USC may have the talent but unless you play the best then there will always be questions. The SEC is without a doubt the best and I too am a Big 12 guy from the SWC days. If Texas can't crack into the top two, I hope that LSU can run the table and set up a championship game with USC..Get some payback for the National Championship that the MEDIA took from LSU and gave to USC the other year.:bat:

USC is going to lose a game, so they will not stay at #1.

Texas has a pretty reasonable schedule. If we play hard we could run the table.

I know this may upset Yankee (sorry man) but I hate when teams play crappy soft scedules like any div II school. Not when the school is a prennial contender.

If smu scheduled a div II school I would not care but a school like ND, Texas or Ohio State does that is just trying to pad stats and get votes and or not lose a non-conferance game.

I actually see USC losing (2) games this season. At Nebraska and at perenially over-rated Notre Dame... (sorry Spec)

And I will be at that game watching in person!!!:whip:

I might go to a Neb game this year, because I have friend who live in Omaha and they are big Neb fans, so I may steal one of the tickets (he can stay home and I will take his wife).

We have friends going up to the A&M game.

I may be at the UT/NEB game, but if history repeats October 27th will be the cheerleader Halloween party.

OSU - 2 losses, top 10, wins their bowl game.

The USC situation is another example of why there needs to be a playoff in College Football. This team has 1-2 difficult games like Zabransky had last year. I'm not saying that USC isn't up there but at least test them in an 8 team playoff to make sure you have the two best in the national championship.

Preacher, choir. Choir, preacher :)

Oh, and I'll take the other side of the USC/WV action also.

If USC stays healthy they are going to win the national championship. The team is completely loaded and very deep.
