Ok, here is a quick RB breakdown for you kids.
McFadden will not be around where we pick unless we throw the season. He is a top 3 lock. Wishing and hoping and slotting him for us in mock drafts won't change it. Accept it and move on. The kid is an exceptional talent and a good character as well. He won't be at LT's level, but he won't be far off IMO. He is a great all around back.
Slaton was a favorite of mine last year. He has great speed and quick cuts. However, he has injury concerns and isn't that big. He needs to simply get bigger to be considered a true NFL back at this point. He has a lot of potential in terms of his talent level and what he can do on the field, but the NFL isn't the Big East. He has a lot of hype that comes along with White as well, but he isn't worth the hype yet. I've studdied a lot of his film already. Take it for what you will, but my reputation with grading prospects well in advance should speak for itself. I've called a lot of prospects early and turned many of you onto quite a few names. Don't get so caught up in Slaton just yet.
Mike Hart has a great attitude and heart, but he isn't all that talented. He is undersized by any proportion and is blessed to play for a top national team. He has good speed and lateral quickness, but he isn't a game breaking back or a feature back for the NFL. He is a solid back with a lot of name recognition going into this year on a great team. He can do some things when given the right chances, but he is a second round talent in terms of projecting him to the NFL. He just doesn't have it. Good kid though.
The kid that Texan fans need to be watching is Felix Jones. On any team besides Arkansas, he would be a national name and ahead of some of the above guys. He has legit size, great speed, and great vision. He isn't quite the dancer that McFadden is, but I feel their speed is equal. Jones gets down the field quicker though. He has a great burst and runs with good power for his size. Both he and McFadden will be great NFL backs, and both will come with less wear than a normal back. Felix Jones is a first round talent that has been overlooked in sorts. His name will float around a lot this season as he plays, and will probally have a lot of hype heading into the draft. While McFadden is a top 3 lock, Jones should still go first round. I mention Jones because we won't have a top 3 pick (knocks on wood) and we don't want a scatback type RB. Green will prove to not be the answer shortly into the season, and we will be back to square one entering the draft. While I support going DB or one of the STUD LB's in the first, I won't be upset with Jones who should fall into the range of the Texans.
