What would we get if we traded Mario?

Everybody has been firing their Republican or Democrat party line on drafting Mario since that draft took place. What would his worth be to the rest of the league at this time? It's hypothetical, but who or what could we get for him straight up?

A more serious answer is that football trades are so goofy that it is almost impossible to tell. Starting WRs like Darrell Jackson and Randy Moss go for middle 4th round picks and QBs with 3 starts go for two 2nd rounders.

The last trade of a significant DE I remember was John Abraham to Atlanta for a mid first rounder, but I will double check and edit if wrong.

Edit:
Atlanta Traded their 2006 first-round Draft choice (29th selection overall) to the New York Jets for DE John Abraham

Vince Young, Michael Griffin, and a Longhorn to be named later. :brickwall:

The Texans would get a big fat cap hit from Mario's bonus and guaranteed money coming due. They would have to cut so many player to get under the cap, they couldn't field a punt team. Let's go for more realistic trade questions, like how can the Texans trade for Peyton Manning and LaDainian Tomlinson.

wait at least until the season is finished, even then two seasons is only a small sample size. there are just two many factors that play into the equation, like coaching, talent around him, health, system & the position hes asked to fill. I don't mind going defense with the 1st pick I just wish we started with it in 2002 :drunk:

Must resist responding ...... in this ....... forum ......:hmmm:
:fireball:this thread is hilarious! :mario:

We have all known the truth about Mario in Possum Hollar for some time now...:mario3:

this thread is too funny... but in all seriousness, I'd have the Tacks give a third rounder for him... no more. Won't happen though... as previously mentioned the cap hit would be atrocious.

Short of having the opportunity to draft a John Elway or another can't miss QB of a generation (assuming a team has a desire to draft a QB), I dunno if any single player can justify the cost of their contract/cap liability for the #1 overall ? This was especially true in a Draft with so many blue-chip prospects
as last years.
For example last year the wisest and most prudent move would have been for the Texans to have traded their top pick to the Jets at #4 or the Packers at #5 "even-up", no boot or additional compensation. I would say this even if Mario had exceeded our most optimistic expectations of him in his rookie year, which of course he didn't. Some claim the Texans couldn't get a satisfactory deal ? If that's the case then I say the biggest obsticale was plain old hubris: they were just too dang proud to admit they couldn't close a sweet deal that was in sync with what that over-hyped and overrated "Value Chart" says you should get in a trade. Of course its possible that there would have been no takers even in that scenario ?

Are you kidding?

If we can create a sort of compitition between 2 or more teams with horrible defences... say Washington and St. Louis we could get at least a first and a third for a 6-7 pass rush who will take two bodies to contain.

What do you expect it was started by someone with Bevo in their name. Enough said.

#1 never judge a poster by a screen name.

#2 Inbreds? Please. Why smack your own thread here? No need.

#3 Pacman (Qubert) has produced and won games. Outside of his off field behavior he has been nothing less than spectacular, and I stress this... ON THE FIELD. Cutting Pacman makes no sense. It is not a good comparison and completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.

edit: for what it's worth and for a positive direction to this thread...
I would not favor a straight up trade of Jones to Houston and Williams to Tennessee.

It looks like you got off a little easier than I did when I asked what we could get for Andre Johnson. I did not advocate the trade just thought we might be wasting an all pro on a losing team for the next couple years team. I still thing Mario combined with his new team mates will be a long time Texan on an ever improving team. Though I still wince from all the bruising I took.

I'll give you a bag of chips and a half eaten Roast Beef sandwich. I offered the same for Carr right before he was cut. Don't pass up on this one! :fans:

I was waiting for the person that brought up the "bag of chips" line.
Now finish the rest of your sandwich and get back to class.
