The best young RB in the NCAA

He's going to West Virginia....

Definitely a player to watch out for....

One minute I thought I was watching Earl, the next minute I thought I was watching Barry Sanders.... That kid was incredible to watch...

And Just think....He's going to West Virginia to team up with White and Slayton...

I can't wait to see this kid play to see how his game adjust to the college level....

LOL...I think the title of this thread has kept people away...

Their loss, because this kid is sick!! And yes, I noticed the balance. The kid defies all laws of physics!!

I should have called it...One of the sickest running backs to have come out of highschool in a long time.....

I never really thought about the title until you mentioned it, but I see a couple of people finally lurking now...

I heard about him a while ago but didnt know how good he was. That was amazing, and he should be a beast in West Virginia.

number 1 ranked RB and number 6 overall recruit.

I heard about him but have never seen the videos.

That kid should not be allowed on the freeways.
Somebody gives him a ticket for weaving in traffic already!

I've watched those highlights about three times a piece and I'm equally impressed each time....

He looks like a threat. The kid is kind of small and he will need another RB to run with. That must have been part of the reason he chose WVU. Slaton and Devine might be the #1 running threat next year.

He is on the smallish side...Though he doesn't run like it...

The most impressive thing to me about him is his balance and his feel for angles and his vision..

I think the kid is going to be awesome with Pat White and Slayton...

QFT.

I stayed out of this thread until now (because of the name, lol), but glad I peeked in now.

I had seen Devine's freshman video. Actually, he looked better as a freshman than he did in his Jr & Sr tapes. Good, but not in the class of the Bush H.S. tape. Actually, I think the kid out of Cy-Fair, McGuffie, looks more explosive.

McGuffie Looks terribly slow compared to this kid, and He isn't nearly as quick making cuts....He also doesn't seem to have the same ability to stay on his feet...

I've watched several RB highlight tapes and in his highschool years he didn't look as explosive as this kid does nor as strong...

These are just my obseravations...But this kid was the #6 prospect overall and the # 1 RB to enter college last year...

IMHO, the kid is going to be a beast, especially at WV....

P.S. His freshman highlights are better because they were against other freshman...His sophomore, junior and senior highlights were against Varsity competition...

Interesting article on Devine that talks about what it took for him to make it to the NCAA and the challenges he still faces:

Such is the story of Devine. The spectacular talent who has drawn comparisons to Barry Sanders and Reggie Bush collides with a tragic and sometimes bizarre past that has led Devine to the cusp of being the next big thing -- or the latest can't-miss prospect to, well, miss.

Devine is no stranger to heartbreak and tragedy: both of his parents died of AIDS before he was 12 and he saw a close friend shot to death his sophomore year of high school. He also has two children (Andre, 1, and Desirae, 2) with two different women, and despite the fact that his maternal grandmother is his legal guardian, has lived with a family for the better part of seven years. Most infamously, Devine was nearly adopted by mentor Deion Sanders (a North Fort Myers product) last August before taking a Cadillac Escalade from Sanders' Dallas-area home, driving it to the airport and leaving it parked at the curb before flying back to Florida.

Devine says Mountaineers coach Rich Rodriguez has already told the 5-foot-8, 175-pounder with 4.4 speed that he will be used on kick returns, as a slot receiver and in the backfield along with Slaton. "But I'm not going to keep that in my head," Devine said. "I'm going to work for it. But I'm not sure they tell everybody else that."

"That's my thing," Devine said. "That's what I like to do is prove everybody wrong... the people who doubt me, that's what I work for."

A lot more in the actual article:

That's unreal. I can't decide if his speed or strength is more impressive.

I also sent this to a few friends. One said he had been some trouble and went to live with Deion Sanders in the Dallas area at one time but didn't like it and moved back to Florida. He had heard his grades were off and they weren't sure if he was getting in somewhere but he made it through. There is a wikipedia on him
