So what do you ladies and gentlemen(and I use that term loosely) think are our odds of getting a game on the Big Screen next year?
 
I agree with Harry...slim to none due to the lack of respect and attention we get from the league...but it would be great wouldnt it.
 
Ya never know... if the Bengals can get on MNF....

But I think I'll agree with the above slim chances with a better possiblity in 2006 - maybe vs. Cowboys or Jags.

I think you guys could get on next year, maybe vs the Colts. I can definitely seen prime time matchups for us in the future, provided we actually put up a fight vs you in 2005. :)
 
I wouldn't be surprised if the Texans-Cowboys game is on Thanksgiving. That would be a good intrastate rival for some good ratings. Cleveland received a MNF in their 5th year back. Granted it was after a 9-7 season and a wild card spot, though. Cincinnati, despite having the easiest schedule in the league last year and coming out with only an 8-8 record got one this season. I think it's very reasonable to expect the Texans get Al and John here in Houston. Maybe against the Colts or Jaguars. I can't see any of the games against the NFC West getting on ABC. The Texans will play the AFC North again. Would Texans-Steelers be a good game to have on MNF? I wouldn't mind that one. If the Texans beat the Browns and the Jaguars lose to the Raiders they'll finish in the 2nd spot which means the Broncos would be on they're schedule again. Broncos-Texans could be another good possibility. Maybe if we start a grass roots campaign we can get them to give the fans in Houston some prime time exposure.
 
In general, are our fans (who attend the games) in favor on being on Monday Night Football here at home? Geez, that makes for a heck of a late night and I have to go to work the next day. It's fine with me if we never get on MNF for a home game. Plus I like to tailgate a bit and such after the game and that works better in the daylight of afternoon games.
 
That sounds like the perfect day to use a vacation day or ::cough cough:: sick day. I know it's not possible for everyone, but I have to work early on Mondays also and I've gone to both Sunday night games. There isn't that much difference really.

I agree, I would lose two work days. I would rather see more 3:00 Sunday games, than a Monday game at home. If we are in the playoff hunt, i think theres a chance we will be on MNF. Remember, next year they will be able to change games, instead of being stuck with a game like we had this past Monday night.
 
Sunday noon, Sunday 3:00, Sunday 7:30, Monday Night, Thursday Night, Saturday... I don't care, I'll be there.

Anyone remember the last MNF in Houston? Hint: It was a new beginning of sorts.
 
I actually think we will get a MNF game... we played pretty well against some good teams and If the Jags are getting all this publicity for being an upstart team then why wouldn't we get just a lil... even if we don't get one we'll surely get a SNF game.

Nope ... I have a bit of an advantage here -- I'm looking at my ticket stub from that game with a little note I wrote on it...otherwise I wouldn't remember either. Another hint: It wasn't as far back as the Glanville era.

If you're thinking about the 35-30 win over Miami, Yes. November 1978. But there were several MNF games in Houston since then. Earl had several big games on MNF but probably none were as big and memorable as that one.
 
I know the Oilers lost to the Giants on a Monday Night game, can't remember if it was in the Dome or at Meadowlands.

That's the one. Week 11 of the 1994 season.

13-10 Giants. The new beginning I was referring to is that it was Jeff Fisher's first game as a head coach.

The NFL in all their infinite scheduling wisdom had the Oilers on MNF three times that year (they finished 2-14 if you recall). I guess since they were 12-4 in '93 they thought they would be good in '94 too but I'm sure the schedulers didn't know about Bud's warning that '93 was the Super Bowl or Bust year that resulted in the breakup of that highly talented and highly compensated group of players.
 
I think the Texans have a good shot of getting on MNF.

Here are my reasons.....

1. Because of the style of play the Texans rarely get blown out. So you can usually count on a good game.

2. Unlike Cinci, Clevland, and Jax....Houston is not a small market team. Houston is a big market team, with deep pockets. Where is football bigger than in Texas?

3. Houston has some good "off the ball stories". I.E. The Golden boy David Carr, the humble superstar Andre Johnson, rising Rookie star Dunta Robertson.

4. Many expect the Texans to be a playoff caliber team next year.
