Disgruntled cornerback Asante Samuel, one of the team's defensive standouts, has said he will not show up at New England's minicamp and will not report to the team until Week 10 of the regular season, according to a report on the web site of the Boston Globe Tuesday.

"I'm not coming to camp," he told the paper. "I'm not showing up until the 10th week (of the season). I feel unappreciated. The way they're treating me is just wrong."

i remember alot of people here wanted to see him in a texans uni this offseason. i wonder what comes out of this

I think he should be fined so much that he could not sit out. Players are doing this for big money contracts and long term deals so they can aoid the franchise tag.

i agree to an extent. im not a big fan of holdouts myself, but when all your guaranteed is bonus money - sometimes you have to. i wish there could be a happy medium one day but i think we are far from that point.

for samuels, i think hes only hurting himself at this point. take a page from the trent green 2007 offseason schedule and notice how he still was at OTAs even though he knew he would be traded for before training camp.

I kind of disagree. Players know going in that all they're guaranteed is bonus money and accordingly the bonus money has reached ridiculous amounts. Case in point is Eric Moulds who walked out of here with what? 5 million dollars in bonus money? If he'd stuck around another year he would have still been paid 2.5 million a season in "bonus" money. It's not like we're talking about the average persons performance bonus or holiday bonus.

He has a right to be pissed. The Pats paid out the ass for free agents, but won't spend an addition dime on a home grown star. Kind of a slap in the face, which is par for the course with the classless Hoodie wearer.

They put the franchise tag on him and he is the one acting classes not the hoodie. If he would have not acted like a spoiled child they might have discussed a long term deal.

Players who get tagged are acting like it is a slap in the face when in reality it is the nature of the business.
