Ok....so tommorrow is June 1st....

Not many and by no one I mean no one we don't already know about. Domanick Williams and David Carr will go down officially tomorrow on the books as June 1st cuts.

Im really interested in both....

I know all the cuts aren't going to happen tomorrow, but any idea/guess at who might be cut both for the Texans or around the leauge ?

looks like slim pickin's to say the least....

basically we are rolling into the season with the roster we have....yes that means we will have Earl and Brown at safety (vomits in mouth)

i'm finding it hard to fight the chunks back myself......

Blah blah better DL pressure..... blah blah depth at CB..... blah blah Von Hutchins/McCleon......

This is my only complaint with the new front office.

yeah. it's not as if Manning isn't in our division anymore....

hopefully they can turn things around in the defensive backfield, but I don't see many new additions that are going to help make significant improvements.

June 1 cut date has been drasticly reduced. A couple nobody's maybe a few aged veterans. Not like the days of FA past.

since it's still the offseason and optimism reigns everywhere, let's hold out hope that more pressure by the d-line will help the performance of our secondary.

makes sense anyways...

I cut myself with a knife this morning. Is merely a flesh wound.

Oh, this isn't the Random Thoughts page? Well, I'm lost.

With a boat load of WRs at their disposal, could it be that the Pats will let go of Chad Jackson?

I heard he's due a $1.64M option bonus (don't know when).
He may or may not start the season (nursing injury).

gaffney's called for $600K this year, don't know if there's a roster bonus.

They would still have Randy Moss, Donte Stallworth, Kelly Washington, Reche Caldwell, and Wesley Welker.

I really dont want gaffney, Im not saying he hasnt improved, but I want us to move forward, not back into the past.

I would have no problem with picking up one of the WRs that NE inevitably drops off their roster. Good chance it could be Gaffney.

Lets see what Gaffney can do with a real QB throwing to him. He looked pretty good with Brady throwing to him.

As a 3rd or 4th option Gaffney would ok. Asking him to be the man or the side kick is asking too much from him.

I think the pats would probably cut Stallworth just b/c he's injury prone & costs more than Gaffney. All the other guys minus Moss are relatively low salary guys; you know how the pats front office gets down.

I really can't see them cutting stallworth...

He's their stretch the field guy...

Brady is as real of a QB as Gaffney's ever going to see unless he ends up playing with manning & As of right now, schaub isn't seeing either of those guys.....

And an oline that gives the QB and WR all day to complete the pass!

It will be very interesting to see whom the Pats will let go.

Kelly Washington signed for 4 years and $22M, I believe.

Stallworth could earn as much as $3.6 million in 2007, including a $1 million signing bonus, a $700,000 base salary, and a $300,000 workout bonus. Stallworth also could earn $1.6 million in the form of a roster bonus, although it is unknown whether that is a one-time payment or on a game-by-game basis. (Boston Globe)

Welker received a $1.3M qualifying offer from the Dolphins, so the Pats ought to pay more to yank him away from Miami. (2,100+ yards from scrimmage last year, including KR and PR.)

Caldwell salary cap number for 2007 is $1.65M (KFFL.com) and he played very well last year for NE, especially down the strecth and in the play-offs (61 recpts reg season, 16 in the playoffs.)

The Pats had to restructure Tom Brady's contract to accomodate Randy Moss.

That makes Gaffney the cheapest among the seven (and as I've mentioned before, he burned Dunta for a TD last year, ouch!)

There's rumor that they might put Jackson on PUP. (give him money so he can sit, sounds familiar, LOL.)

Jets may cut WR Justin McCareins due to salary cap.
Seems like the Titans are interested in a trade.
Don't know if the Texans want to play chess with them or not.

First thought is we can't out bid them, but they did not go too hot & heavy in the FA market. So..

If we want him, we just have to offer more trade value to the Jets.

Or we can wait until the Jets cut him and goes into a bidding war with the Titans.

The cap hit for the Jets is around $3M instead of $1M after today.
They probably want to make a trade for next year draft pick, I would think.

No way we give up 1st, 2nd is gone, is he worth a #3?

I dunno.
The Jets gave up a 2nd rounder for him before.

The Sporting News reported at least a 4th rounder is what the Jets wants now.

The Titans seem unwilling to part with a 2nd, even as Justin's agent said that they are open to rework his contract.

So our 3rd definitely will do it, and he will give us speed.
Maybe the Jets will even settle for our 4th, for the Titans think Justin might not fit their new game plan (more shorter passes for Young).

We might end up being able to add people in August when other teams cut their rosters down to 75 and then 53 players (remember we picked up Ron Dayne, Anthony Maddox, Thomas Johnson, Vonta Leach, and a few others at that point or later in the season).

I think the fact that we are still not picking up extra guys says alot for the level of competition on the practice field. when the august cuts come, we may have a hard time deciding who to cut ourselves, let alone looking at other teams cast offs. I like it.

I'm pretty satisfied with our plethora of wr3/wr4's as it is... don't see a need to add another
