Not sure if this is in the right section, but do the Texans hold tryouts ?

And if they do, does anyone have any details about them ?

I think you missed the deadline.....cheerleading tryouts were a few months back IIRC! J/K I don't think they have open tryouts, though I could be wrong. The only instance I know of was in the movie "Invincible", where the Eagles had open tryouts. I could be way off on this though. Good luck in finding what you are looking for.

Thanks for your input...

I figured you'd probably have to know someone within the organization...One of my former coaches is in charge of showing the rookies around town and showing them good places to go, buy houses...ect.....

But if anyone has any specifics on this I'd be greatly interested....

I actually think they might hold some type of open tryout but I am not 100% sure. Of course, it is the longest of long shots. Were you interested personally, or for someone else?

For some reason, I think it is in the spring, maybe like March or something? Maybe if you call the Texans offices they would be able to tell you?

Never thought about calling and asking....duuhhhh...

Thanks for the input though....

Man to be young again......

If I was about 15 years younger, I would be asking you to pass any info you find to me.

I thought they do have an open try out. Maybe AJ ( is he still around) or TC can opine?

But if they do hold open try-outs I'm definitely there....I started working out about 7 months ago and I've lost 46 lbs.....I want to lose about 15 more, and train hard for the next year and then try-out for TE....I'd be 6'4" 265......with skills...lol...

But again, thanks for the support...

I think I would be a good 3rd string long snapper. Especially since the new rule that you can't line up over deep snappers. I could keep that bench mighty warm for a six figure salary.

Need an agent? I know I can get you the minimum without too much negotiating but you would have to agree to show up on time. And stay away from dogs, fast cars, parties on big boats and HPD officers with tasers.

If you are serious about it, why don't you try hooking up with the Arena league or semi-pro league, and work from there.

I was invited to play for a semi-pro team in Cali....

I turned it down because I make more money now, I'm in school, I take care of my grandmother and don't want to move away from my family just yet and I've had experiences playing for unorganized leauges/teams where the talent wasn't that good....

Arena football sounds appealing, but if the Texans have any kind of open try-outs I figure why not go for the bigger stage first....If the unexpected happens (I refuse to use the words 'not make it') then I'll probably try different avenues....

But thanks for the advice...I absorb everything...

I have no idea. I once sat next to a guy at a Texans luncheon who was there because he wanted to be a fullback for the Texans. And planned on walking up to Casserly after the luncheon. Didn't work out so good for him.

LOL...

I can do like 500 12 ounce curls in one evening. Think they would sign me on strength alone?

I have worked my way up to the 16oz, and I am currently looking for the record for the 24oz roadmaster curls. Unfortunately no one knows the record because everyone is so damn drunk so they lose count.

If the Texans held open tryouts, Rick Smith would find a replacement for Kris Brown in less than a day. As long as they employ "internationals"

The nfl tests on reps, i.e. how many times players can bench 225. It's all about the stamina baby. Also, the keg stand should be like a shuttle.

So we do not have to get rid of dead money for that guy? Strange.

From what I remember reading last year... Kubes said that they were always looking at new players, even during the season. Most of them would come in during the week and try out. I think that all of those players either requested a tryout through their agents or the team contacted them and their agent directly for a tryout.

So an agent may be your best bet on this.

Seems like I remember a friend of mine who was a door man at Sherlock's saying he was going to try out for the Texans before their first season. Hadn't heard anything about open tryouts since then.

The Texans don't hold open tryouts for just anyone to show up. If you are serious about getting a tryout, call their offices some time and ask to be transferred to their scouting department and talk to them about it and if they are interested enough they may call you in for a workout. I wouldn't count on getting in that way, I've heard they get numerous calls about that all the time and it doesn't sound like they take call-ins overly seriously, although I can't honestly say I would either if I were running an NFL team. Your best bet would probably be to get in with an arena team (there is one in Katy that is part of the NIFL, kind of the minor-league version of the AFL) and play with them for a year and see if you can make somewhat of a name for yourself there.

Get yourself on the radar. Good luck to ya. I believe McKinney owns one of these. If they think you've got a shot, their phone call would be wieghted compaired to your phone call. You get on their radar I'm sure they'd give you a shot. Eugene Seals came from somewhere. Good luck. Takes five years to get vested. Lot to risk till then.

There's an ex football player at my job who wanted to work out for the Texans but they would not let him. He told them, ''just let me run for you." They wouldnt even watch him run.

But I remember an interview with GK where he said they look at new players on Tuesdays which is the NFL's day off.
