Danny Clark was just on 610

Errant Hothy

Hypermediocrity
Yeah I know a little late, but the audio should be up for download soon on thier site. Some of what I heard:

-He was in Jax for the axe incident

-ND Kalu and Okoye are locker mates. They may be the smartest locker mates in the NFL with Kalu going to Rice and Okoye getting a scholarship offer to Harvard at 15

-It was pretty obvious that Clark wants to start, but if he can't he still plans to help the team on special teams and on the pratice feild.

Sorry but that's all I got till the interview gets posted.

Says our team is gelling well in the short time, talked about New Orleans, says he thinks he'll start on the outside, says we're athleticon D but lack leadership and experience which he's trying to help out with, says Okoye is ALOT more mature than he would expect, says they give Okoye and Kalu a hard time because they went to some smart schools, says Mario is a special kid and you can tell why he was drafted by just looking at him, Clark considers himself a leader, he liked Del Rio over Coughlin by far, on the fence about adding a 17th game but feels preseason should be shortened, says the Raiders are due for an upgrade because Al Davis wants to do things his way.

Clark sounded to me like he thoroughly expects to be the starting SLB (didn't say strong but)--he almost bridled before giving the PC response about being 2nd string and working special teams.

he better show his stuff then, Kubiak likes shantee, and he plays hard every down. I think alot of positions are gonna be a surprise who gets the starting job, I dont think the new guys are gonna just come in and steal starting jobs without a fight. Kubiak is all about effort and consistency, and it's not that easy to show that in the off/pre season. I would say no matter what happens though, I like our new depth at alot of positions. It will only make us a better team.

He will have to work his butt off before the season starts to win a starting position, like he should. :texflag:

Am I the only one that thinks Shantee should only be brought in on obvious pass rushing situations to pin his ears back and get after the qb at either SAM or RDE?

No. Unless he just had a rough learning curve switching to the 4-3 and is going to improve drastically this year, I agree with you.

I don't think they would have brought in 4 or 5 guys for competition plus Kubiak lauding Anderson if Shantee was anything close to a favorite.
I agree with this and I don't think Orr starts on any other team. Orr just doesn't play well in space...so we need the upgrade if Clark can play.

I guess we will have to see what happens, I like the competition and depth either way. I hear alot of people talking like all our starters are gonna be replaced or something, I'm just saying I doubt that. you dont bring in all new players and start from scratch, you keep them for depth and see who steps up when they get the chance. I'm just a lowly fan, not privy to all the inside info some of you are. I think I'm also entitled to my oppinion, but maybe not. sorry.

good lord...save the drama...nobody tells you that you can't post an opinion. This board is about speaking your mind...not everyone is going to think like you. as for myself...I've been critical of Orr in the past...he's a good pass rusher and is a hard working good guy...but he isn't a very good linebacker....if you want a solid NFL starter. jmo of course. Infantry or I have no special inside view of the team fwiw

that's fine in a perfect world, but it seems every comment I make gets jumped on by a moderator who coincidentally "doesnt agree with me". It gets a little anoying. it's not like I have this terrible track record of being totally off the mark. I got ridiculed last year for saying either kubiak or carr would be gone this year, and whoa look at that. probably just dumb luck.

everything you say on a message board is going to get agreed with by some people, and disagreed with by some people. thats life on the internet my friend. And if your views are in fact consistent, wouldn't it logically be true that the same people should disagree with you everytime? If their views are consistent, then your views and there views will usually be on opposite ends of the spectrum. I know that everytime I post RZ and Porky are going to be shaking their heads in disapproval. It's not an indictment to have somebody disagree with you man....and there is no conspiracy to silence you. If the mods didn't want you around, your only 3 clicks from being gone anyway man. It takes more energy to yawn then ban somebody. Just ease up on the Tennessee williams, and let the angry just roll off your back.

hey I know what you're saying, but it's been like 4 posts jumped on in a week, and the language is not friendly banter, but somewhat berating, otherwise I wouldnt even mind, heck you and me have had some nice heated discussions ourselves in the past, lol

We don't gear for the "perfect world" around here. We just have a group of fans that get together and speak their minds...including the mods...frankly, I've read you for years...& you get defensive on a regular basis, and you don't tend to tolerate posters that don't see things your way.

Being a moderator doesn't mean you don't have an opinion. I chose most of the mods because they DO offer up opinions and show guys like you how to post a contrary opinion without getting personal. Try to take a lesson or two...I've learned from those guys myself...try it yourself....it may help you enjoy your time on mb's more.

I probably should have messaged this, but for what it's worth, the only time I get defensive is when the reply is berating, insulting or implies I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm sure you have my post history, I think I've been tolerant and constructive as long as the posts are not demeaning or disrespectful. on that, I appologize for sidetracking the thread.

I've been the same at times...so I'm just not gonna say it's all evil or anything to be a bit wordy or defensive...it's just something we can improve on if we try... I know I have. No problems and no biggie.

Anything is an upgrade over Orr. The guy had 32 whole tackles as a starter last season and was a huge disappointment. (FYI... Clark had 129 and 113 with Oakland in 2004 and 2005). Orr is more of a pass-rush specialist type player that is better suited as a 3-4 OLB on 3rd down. Orr will not be our starting SOLB in 2007. Even Abbate is an upgrade over him.

This thread reminds of a quote my Mother put in my gym bag the day I returned to school after being suspended in 9th grade, "Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Moreover, I deem Dave Mason's classic, "We Just Disagree," as the message board's official anthem:

So let's leave it alone,'cause we can't see eye to eye.
There ain't no good guy, there ain't no bad guy,
There's only you and me and we just disagree.

Go Spurs.

You had me until that Go Spurs part.

My parents are big fans, and I know a lot of folks who are fans of them compared to all the teams that are left, but the Rocket fan in me has a hard time feeling happy for the Spurs.

As for the disagreeing thing, I think that part of that is what is missing when you are communicating via internet. That it is easy to mistake tone. The person doing the opinionizing might just be giving an disagreeing or questioning comment, but the person reading it might be reading into it a derision or sense of berating that wasn't intended or felt by the other person.

But surely the Rocket fan in you wouldn't mind the Spurs knocking off the team that beat our Rockets?
