Spencer interview

If you haven't checked out the Spencer interview on the main site, you should...

Says he won't participate in OTA's but expects to be back for training camp...

I hope its true. Im not holding out too much hope after being burned a few times in the past.

PS: I hate the main site. I tried to watch the video about 10 times, and every time it jumped in between every syllable. There is no option to let the thing load and then play. You can't change the quality. Very annoying

Everyone think positive for him. Maybe the positive vibes will help him heal quicker in that cosmic sort of way.

I can't watch the video from my work connection, as it locks up every time. I'll watch it when I get home, though.

Working out every day...3-4 hrs a day. Sounds like a very motivated young man.

Tony Boselli did the same thing.

When Spencer actually gets on the field and plays . . . then, I'll start to believe he's back. Like someone else said, I've been burned by this before.

Sure sounded good, but only time will tell if he fully makes it. Man, I hope so because we could be in deep do-do if he doesn't ever make a full recovery. We have guys that can play the LT, but he was going to be dominant IMO and those types are few and far between.

I would rather have him back sooner rather than later , but if he needs the extra time to come back at 100 % ........ thats cool too . Don't want to risk injury by rushing back .

good interview. being back by training camp might be a little optomistic, but i think and hope that he'll be around for preseason. i'm not allowing myself to get too excited until big nasty's wearing pads again, but when he does it's going to be an incredible boost to our offense.

hurry back spencer, we're all pulling for ya. :texflag:

Anyone know a HooDoo spellcaster to ward off the evil Joppru curse before it's to late ?

I looked and their not in the Yellowpages .... we need one before training camp starts .

This is the New Texans.

Bosselli and Joppru were the products of a fledgling franchise with not much experience and risky players. Spencer is going to rebound completely as is the team as a whole.

Positive thinking people!

What stuck out to me was he said he reads things that make him more driven. It seemed to me to allude those were negative things he's read. So, with this in mind, all you pessimistic fans who never post a single positive thing about your team (No need in naming names here, you know who you are) can you please write something really nasty? I want him super motivated :)

Joppru was not a risky pick. He didn't have a history of injury until after we chose him. Pure bad luck, and not a msitake on the organization

Also, just because Spencer comes back doesn't mean anything to me at this point. He's not a veteran. He has 1 training camp and 2 games under his belt. Those weren't fabulous games, either. In those 2 games he had 1 false start and gave up a sack. Not terrible, but not probowl either. He's a rookie. And he's got a lot of conditioning and strength building to do. I hope he comes back, but when he does, I fully expect him to be at level below he was during his rookie year. Being out of football over a year really does something to do you. And losing that much leg strength as an OL does too.

He's got a long way to go

It just depends how you, as an individual, choose to view the situation...

I don't expect his performance to suffer a whole lot in the long term...
Of course he'll struggle initially, but I believe him when he says that he is determined. I look at all of the athletes that have come back from major injuries and that lets me know it's possible. If it wasn't possible then we wouldn't even be having this conversation.

If he's not at/close to full strength by the end of pre-season, hopefully he'll be there by the mid-way point...

From what I understand ... the big issue was the health of the cartlidge . If he's planning on being at training camp , does that indicate that the cartlidge may be OK .

On one of the boards Cloak and Dagger who is a Dr. was cautiously opptimistic about Spencer a month ago so FWIW . :fans:

Does anyone know if working out helps the cartilage? I know it rebuilds the muscle, but I too thought cartilage was the main issue?

I just listened to the interview and you can tell why this coaching staff is so high on Spencer. I been one of the biggest na sayers on his injury. Basically taking a wait an see attitude, but I really hope he makes it back.

Could it be? A better O line. A stronger Dline. Line backer corps(not corpse) improved. Jacoby takes a little heat off AJ. Green/Dayne do a little dance, make a little yardage. We get (touch)down tonight! Sorry, I just could not pass up KC and the Sunshine Band.

Spencer will be back and our starting LT for the next 10 years. He seems cut from the same mold as Matthews, Munchak and Boselli. He's a gamer.
