The man who may have the biggest name in Green Bay sports history has asked to be traded.

Several Packers and league sources have told FOXSports.com that Brett Favre's agent Bus Cook phoned Green Bay's general manager Ted Thompson within two to three days of the draft and asked for a trade. The sources said that Cook railed off how his client was fed up with the organization and wanted out.

The shocking request appeared directly related to the team's inability to trade for WR Randy Moss. continued

This is unreal of him.

makes Steve Young look smart on draft day. Steve was saying that with the Packers drafting DL in round 1 and not helping Favre sends a message to Favre

in so few words

Brett Farve has been traded to a retirement home. In the exchange, the Packers have gained two pudding pops and a pack of gello.

Does anyone seriously care about him anymore? This "show" has gone on long enough. He has vastly overstated his value.

just saw this on msn....God I'm torn, I mean I'm a HUUUUUUUGE Brett Favre fan, but I also like the Packers.....I want to see brett succeed but I also want to see him retire in a packers uni...Brett not being a packer just doesn't seem right........

I disagree, the guy still has a cannon for a arm, but unfortunately he's played with a crappy line and receivers over the past few years....Brett is still one of the best QBs in the game today if he's given the right situation...

Favre rapidly becoming the Roger Clemons of the NFL with his primadona behavior and unreasonable demands that are out of sync for any player who puts team ahead of self. Both he & Clemons require a seperate row of 737 seats on travel dates for their oversized egos.

don't compare B. Feeve (my nickname for brett) to the egotistical Roger Clemens....Brett wants to "win", what's so wrong about that?

Except Clemens is still a top of the line pitcher. Favre is nothing more than a has-been.

Favre is still better than most of the starting QBs in the NFL.....put him on a good team, and that team becomes a Super Bowl contender immediately...

Any QB can be one of the best if given the right situation.

Ryan Leaf had a cannon of an arm also. Favre is not making the smart reads anymore (like retiring, hitting the open WR and not trying to "squeeze" one in).

And the story continues; link

MILWAUKEE (May 13, 2007) -- The Green Bay Packers left Brett Favre fuming when they didn't pull off a trade for wide receiver Randy Moss during the NFL draft.

But was the three-time MVP angry enough to ask his way out of Green Bay?

Amid public grousing from Favre about the state of his team over the weekend, a report on the Fox Sports Web site, citing anonymous sources, said Favre's agent called Packers general manager Ted Thompson to request a trade a few days after the 2007 draft.

According to the report, Packers coach Mike McCarthy later called the quarterback and was able to calm his anger, getting Favre to admit that he didn't really want to play elsewhere.

In a statement posted on the Packers' Web site, general manager Ted Thompson said he would not address the specifics of the report but understood the frustration Favre vented in interviews over the weekend.

Brett has always been a risk taker....and you can't throw "any" QB in a good situation and expect good results....

It was ok for him to be a risk taker when he had the physical attributes to be able to complete most of those risks. He no longer does.

I disagree with your last statement. Every QB has an ideal system. Some systems would rely on them making all all the plays, some would rely on them not to turn the ball over. Put the QB in the right system and they will have success. Round hole, square peg theory. I.e. we did not need a gunslinger in a run oriented offense.

is Favre getting a 'free pass' on this? if anyone but Favre pulled something like this he would be getting roasted in the media. I love Favre and I agree that GB blew it when they didn't pick up Moss, but to throw a fit and demand a trade is pretty bad especially when you are so revered and loved by your fanbase.

Bottom line is that if GB isn't doing enough to put a competitive team around him (and I feel they have not done enough), he owes it to himself and the Packer faithful to just retire if he is that upset. To get traded this late in your career is never a good idea...remember OJ running around in a 49ers helmet or the Tyler Rose rushing for the Saints? pure sacrilige

the guy they picked with their 4th rounder. Obviously this team is building for the future but i'm not a huge Packers fan so i'm not real sure on their direction with it. I know Jennings was a bit of a suprise last year, nd they picked up another WR in the third but it would look better to have Driver, Moss, and Jennings on a 3 WR set. I think his gripe is legit but he also needs to realize that franchise is rebuilding and if it wasn't Greenbay and it wasn't anyone other then him. Although he'll probably break another record this year (all time TD passes 6 more to break the record held by Dan Marino) he'd been shown the door Ala McNair.

I do not see him doing anything different than a lot of other superstars do, he wants to win. The team is not giving him anything to help do that. Has he lost some, of course but it is also the fact he does not have the talent around him as much as he used to, for his gunslinger ways.

Kobe has said similar things, Jodan has said similar things. He wants to win and he wants to\he organization to provide him the tools to do so.

what???..........the guy wants to win, not wither away his career on a bad team....I'm a packers fan, but if Brett left because he wanted to win another Super Bowl then I'd be fine with it......the guy has been loyal to the Packers organization his entire career, but the past few years they've done little to make the team a winner...using your logic would be like saying KG shouldn't demand a trade from the T-Wolves....nothing is wrong with wanting to win....the guys a competitor and he wants to compete...someone please explain to me what's so wrong with that?

He said he was upset and said something to his agent who asked for the trade c'mon. I guess you never said something being upset and then latter realized you were wrong?

If I were his agent, I would have realized he was PO'ed about something and cooled Bret down...if he wasn't serious about wanting to be traded.

That saves Bret's agent this hassle--having to explain that first call to the Packers-- after it leaks to the media.

That says more about the Packers office than it does Bret. All he has to say is I want to win and I overreacted and he is in the clear from the Packer faithful.

He's been in the league 17 years, hardly withering away his career. His last MVP was 10 years ago. Not a spring chicken if you ask me.

How many times can the man throw a temper tantrum? I'm n ot trying to bash him, but every year is the same BS with him. My team sucks, boo whoo. I want to be traded, boo whoo.

Dude, the guy is one of the best QBs of the last 20 years and he has been stuck in a franchise that has done ABSOLUTELY nothing for him or any other player on the team in a good 5 years.

The Packers sucked REAL bad last year and look to be worse on paper this year. I don't blame Brett at all. I'd be demanding a trade too. Atleast it shows he cares about winning...and isn't just in there because he has to in order to get that check.

Stuck? They have paid him millions. Hardly stuck. Because its Brett Favre its not selfish for he to demand a trade because the team didnt do what he wanted? Any other player would be labeled a bad teammate. Wasn't it Favre who told Javon Walker to shut up and be a team player when Walker demanded a trade? Now that good old worn out Brett is doing he just wants to win right? Man F Brett Favre. Stop crying, go to work, or retire. Simple. The writing has been on the wall for 5 years now.
