Rick Smith About to be on NFL Network

talking about amobi okoye ... saying he has a lot of room growth and potential. also, how hard it is to find a pass rusher on the interior and that's what okoye brings. the franchise couldnt be more excited about this pick and what it will become down the line.

carr ... it was time for a change. (smith didnt flinch on this one, it looked to me to be obvious that smith wasnt a proponent of keeping carr). the texans had an opportunity to acquire schaub and they felt confident that this was what they needed. schaub who because of experience in the pros and his leadership was better for them than to think about drafting a quarterback. the guy interviewing smith worked for atlanta when schaub was there and hammered it home that schaub had a better grasp of the offense than vick and would be huge for the texans.

o-line ... a big need, and he mentions left tackle specifically so i'm a little worried now about spencer. there wasnt any opportunity to get a great left tackle so that's something they're still looking for.

jones ... everytime jones gets an opportunity, he really impresses and shows that he has a tremendous upside.

just talked about amobi, matt schaub, and jacoby jones, and also why they didnt take a LT early

that bob guy that was a GM... said that he worked with matt schaub when he first came into the league and said that he was a great pick up and understands the west coast offense better then mike vick.

talked about how jacoby steps up to competition,

and just talked about how amobi is young and is a great pass rusher

said that they didnt have a chance to get the top 2 LT in the draft

Thanks for the heads up! I like to hear Rick Smith talk about our team. He instills confidence that our FO finally has it's act together.

It would appear that he at least recognizes that LT is one of our biggest problem areas. I know we weren't positioned well to get one this year, but if they're cognizant that it's a top trouble area, then I'm confident they'll fix it someday.

Perhaps they have their eye on someone who could be released from another team in June? They must have been really looking for Levi, but AZ reached and grabbed him early.

I have been wanting to find out what potential june 1st cuts there could be

Kevin Shaffer formerly of Atlanta and most recently of Cleveland is available for trade after they got Joe Thomas. 6.5 total sacks given up over the last 2 years but haven't closely watched him to know more.
