Talking about salary cap, going into this year, had salary cap restraints, got better when AJ got renegotiated. But will take more than one year "to clean the books up".
 
I give Rick Smith credit than locking in a trade before he sees who falls to us. I also give him enough credit to get out of that spot if humanly possible if there isn't a player we absolutely love at that spot. I think having a trade all but signed off is a great idea to give the team flexibility at draft time.
 
These are just little contingency trades in case the draft falls a certain way. There's only what, 15 minutes to get your card up, and 31 teams that might potentially deal with you? Getting these things figured out beforehand is a must so that the only thing left to do is confirm from both ends and sign on the dotted line.
