How unpopular would that scenario be ? The Texans having AD on the Board,
within their grasp, but then trading away their #10 pick and in effect AD to the "other" NFL team in Texas.
Surely even Bob McNair wouldn't let that happen ? Right ?

Besides the titans, this is the only team in the nfl that the Texans can not do business with. Jones tried desperately to keep McNair from getting a team, short of building a stadium in LA so a team would go there versus Houston. If this ever happened I would seriously have to be put in a rubber room for a very very long time.
 
Depends on what we get in return. If we raked him over the coals ala Ricky Williams or Herschel Walker, than ya, let him have him. Otherwise, not only no, but hell no.
 
We cannot do business with Satan, especially when it comes to AD.

But we do have a lot of cap space developing in 08. :hmmm:

Far be it from me to defend Jerry Jones (being that the Cowboys are my second most disliked team, only behind the Titans)...

But I swear I can remember the exact opposite, where Jerry Jones was actively helping Bob McNair land a team in Houston.

Of course, finding a news article to support either angle has proved next to impossible!

Houston businessman Bob McNair is prepared to offer $700 million for an NFL expansion franchise, which would be the most ever paid for any professional sports team, sources say.


The bid would be $160 million more than the $540 million Hollywood deal-maker Michael Ovitz has reportedly been willing to pay. That would mean an additional $5 million for each of the league's current 31 owners, who split franchise fees equally.

Regardless of which city gets the expansion team, there seems to be growing sentiment that both Houston and Los Angeles should wind up with franchises.


Cowboys owner Jerry Jones suggested the league give Houston the expansion team and move an existing team to Los Angeles.


But others think an existing team should be moved to Houston and the expansion team put in Los Angeles, where pro football is a hard sell and the team would benefit from being a brand-new franchise, instead of a refugee from elsewhere.

The NFL owners voted 29-0, with Arizona and St. Louis abstaining, to award an expansion franchise to Bob McNair, a Houston businessman. The new franchise will begin play as an AFC team in 2002.

My question is why did Arizona and St. Louis abstain? What did we do to them for them not to vote for McNair getting a franchise?

Probably didn't want another big market team to vote against the changes the small market teams want.

The vote for an L.A. team (which took place before the Houston vote) was also 29-0. They must have not wanted a new team, period?
