If you're a veteran Texans Talk poster, and you have suggestions for this new board, please post here. Please do not post:

*If you're a new member
*If you're an old member but have nothing substantive to say

I.E. Post "I would like forum X to be renamed Y." Or "I would like the style changed to _____."

I know this has been asked before, but the mods are hearing a lot of griping and getting little, if any, constructive input from those who do not like the new board. :) They're trying hard to make sure everyone enjoys the new site.

I was around the old board from day one, just didn't post much.

I like the software (seems familiar LOL) but I think you need to personalize it more. The old board visually had its own identity and I miss that.

I also miss all of Hookems smack, griping, and complaining :user:

Any suggestions on how to personalize it?

Let me chime in for one second...we have developed a new logo and haven't uploaded it anywhere as we have wanted to refine it...it will be all over the place soon. This site redux is still in the early stages. It went up in an incredible hurry.

Yankee, thanks for the constructive platform. I appreciate you guys who are trying to help us understand how to better serve you guys. Last night I stayed up late to reconfigurethe look of the place to make it look more like the old texanstalk when you are in threads...I hope you guys like it.

TexansTalk was more enjoyable than this "old" Texan MB. This site is too strick sometimes. Hopefully it will lighten up a little...Yes, Harry...it's 1stdown here!!!! Mootini was my old ID here. I got to get use to this site, how about you? I think this site needs a AFC South spot to discuss the division.

I like Mootini! The mods here will not have to deal with the Texans FO trying to be so damn PC. Vinny changed it just last night to give some of us older folks a more familiar feel.

Ti-i-i-ime..........is on our sides!:user:

I didn't even know about this site until two seconds ago...I've been posting over at the main site.....n

The only thing I don't like is how narrow the view is...Just like the board attatched to the Texans main site, I have to scroll back and forth to read...

But other than that, I can't really say....seeing as I've only been here...5 seconds now...

"Some of us older folks" speak for yourself!!!:friends:

I've just been sitting back, reading most of the threads, and giving it some time. PATIENCE!! I appreciate what Kevin has tried to do with HIS board! He brought in people he trusted to revamp, redesign, and give ALL Texan fans a place to go. The OLD TT was our "hang out" so to speak, our own little old computer "home." WELL, Kevin, Vinny, and the new mods, have built a BIGGER home and opened the doors to those long lost relatives, some of which we didn't care to much for to begin with! lol IMHO, for what it's worth, we all need to learn to live together PEACEFULLY, or move on!!

YES, we will have disagreements, heated arguments, lots of :brickwall: , etc, but when all is said and done, we need to remind ourselves we are a TEXAN FAMILY, and we will survive!!

As for INPUT, I miss the old smack forum, esp involving our division rivals. The Cowboy thread was ALWAYS great fun to read also. It provided a place for all the nastiness to come out, and kept most of it off the main football threads. I think it just helped keep the place clean.

I DO have a suggestion for the OLD TT posters. GET INVOLVED with this board! NOT just the tailgating section, but start talking about football! EVERYONE has an opinion, or we wouldn't be here in the first place. VOICE YOURS!! Learn to live with the NEW "relatives" and let's ALL do our part to make our new house a GREAT place to be!! JMO!

So you're saying that I should endevour to participate in every facet of the "new" TT? I'll see what I can do about that!:bat:

Bait, smait, you didn't know they were changing boards back then. It is more like :potkettle:

That was the old TT! If a few people hadn't complained about my PG rated avatars I would be dazzling you with some of the lovely avatars I have collected in my intertravels!

I gets around a bit!:cowboy1:

I would like to see auto spell check, even Yank whos is a soon to be lawyer could use it, look at his first post on the thread!:devilpig:

If you use IE there is already one in the system...you just have to use it. It's on the top right of the post edit box. If you use Firefox you have to go download their spellcheck tool.

If you do not see the check mark, go download this...

Some of us know how to use Yank's translator it's about like Bradster's at times... but that is a positive addition Big, for the new people on this site!!!

Great post grandma! Thanks for coming back!!

We're all going to make Kevin's site the best Texan's site out there.

So much for Yankee's request.

Anyway, I don't see what the issue is about looks of the site but I care more about the handeling and content of the site. It looks from where I sit that it is going the right direction.

I think that's fair input. Such as "I wish people would be moderated when ___?" or "Can we have a sticky specifying the rules for x?"

I'm just trying to draw constructive input from original TT posters who have problems with the new look/layout/members/moderation polciy/etc. :)

Let me chime in here if I may. There have been some unfortunate negative feelings tossed back and forth between some over the change and I am very sorry about all of that. I could have done a much better job making this transition. First off we want to appease as many of you as possible, especially the veteran TT folks. You're (and you know who you are) one of the main reasons the change was made (at least from my point of view). I really want this board to be cross between the old official board and the old TT board. Which would be what I wanted TT to be in the first place. We all know that both boards had their issues. Some feel the official board could get a little too serious and "stuffy" at times or felt those with "great football minds" (at least in their own mind) looked down on others who may not be "experts" of the game. I can see that and have felt that way at times. Others feel TT wasn't serious enough and was just a place to goof off. Because of this they wouldn't waste their time posting a serious topic because they knew it would get overlooked or wouldn't get any real "engaging" responses. I do know that was occuring and quite honestly it was turning me off too. As a matter of fact, many of the old time TT folks cut down on their posting or stopped altogether because of this issue. One just outright unregistered because of the "silliness" that was going on. It had pretty much gotten out of control and I felt major changes would have to be done to get TT back to being a respectable board. The LAST people I thought would be upset about this were the old time core TT folks because I wanted to give them a respectable board back. I felt we could gel the two communities and find an even ground for all to enjoy and have fun talking Texans no matter what your level of expertise on the game is.

I do take full blame for the quality of TT going down hill over the last couple of seasons. Instead of trying to change it I just started spending more time on the official board. I admit that. I now know that it takes a team of mods to run a decent board, not just one or two.

Guys please be patient with us and give us feedback. The facts are, this board IS going to be better than both the old TT board and the old official board. At least that is our goal and I am going to do all I can to see that it happens.

send us some of that snow, harryj! :splits:

I would like to see She become a lifetime honorable MOD! :doot:

Well, if I was lookin for a humorous post today, that one would do it!!!! LOVE ya anyway 76, , BUT, everyone who knows me, you included, know I'm a complete ***** when it comes to computers.:user: Heck, I still can't figure out how to post a link!! I've been here since the beginning, and I'm not going away. YOU guys/gals gave me the "grandma" title in 2002, and I wear it proudly. Looks like I have a bunch of NEW kids I'll have to keep an eye on though, might have to pull out the old :bat:

DA*NETTTT!!!!!!!! They blocked out I*IOT, and I'm talking about myself!!!! lol

I am probably not a true old school TT poster. I started posting on TT about a year ago but moved over to the official board after some time and for my own reasons.

My recommendation is, everyone should relax a bit and let hook'em, vinny, double barrell, and all the others do their thing.

I have respect for them and what they have done on previous message boards and completely believe their motiviation is the betterment of our Houston Texans community. This message board is about a community and not anyone single person or group of people.

Change is not always easy, but we should all kick back and just enjoy the ride. It's amazing what you start to enjoy when you otherwise would never had thought about trying when just relax and accept what comes to you.

Since I have posted regularly on both boards before the big changes, one thing that was completely the same on both boards was...

GO TEXANS!

luv ya' grandma!

hookem, I don't see the old TT board's declining quality.
Last I remember, it gathered some pretty strong votes of support among all the Texans boards.

maybe you bore a child who took on its own will.

maybe the people going there like the easy atmosphere that make them feel better during, or after a long day at work.

some of us tend to stray away from topic, but that was during slow time, or perhaps people just choose not to concentrate totally on football. they know they can get that at the main board.

Personally, I found that a unique trait of the old TT.
Yeah, I know at times some one can say "get a room", but really, they like to put in a few one-liner themselves.

Ya know I have voiced my appreciations before.
And I think this place will be just fine.
We all have to look at our own face in the mirror, I'm sure! :)

Firstly, a big raspberry for Diapher for her crafty dig at my splendiferous use of vocabulary......:shades: !!

May I remind new and old on this board that I, a pure and unsullied Brit, am the only one here to use The Queen's English correctly.
:king:

As to improving this 'new' place - I would like to see the return of the function that let you view all your posts (and hence any replies) from the 'profile' section.

I also believe that more nudity is in order, though I concede that that titbit (pun intended) may be more about me than you cared to know!!:joker:

Could I also point out that my office wall remains stubbornly calendar-free and bereft of cheerleaders! You know who you are..................:secret: !

Carry on.

click on your name or your avatar and you will find all your posts.

wait, how does Harry already have 1500 posts?

this place seems a little too official for me, but I kind of like what Hookem was saying about making this place more serious then the old TT. We would have our fun in hijacking threads to places they had no place going (harry, 76....myself :D )

Also, a return of a big-league smack section would be a welcome addition. The daily smack talkers could meet there and those not interested in that sort of stuff could just stay out. If it spills out then the mods can take care of that

Also i gotta dig up my old avy...

ya know, the sombrero guy :cowboy1:

Actually, I joined Texanstalk.com a couple years ago, but I never could quite get into it. When I joined the site, I was looking for more news about the Texans, but there was just too much BS and not enough news to satisfy me, so my trips here were very infrequent. Hopefully, this will be better.

Yeah, I remember you! You were another poster that added nothing to TT! Hopefully you'll get better.:brickwall:
