I feel for Texans fans who were at one time Oilers fans. It has been a dark and confusing world for far to long.

I was one. aj and I were there in Nashville when they were "honoring" Elvin Bethea. It was real weird, the Titans were playing the Texans and honoring a Houston player. Most of the Titans fans were looking around wondering who Elvin Bethea was. I could just hear them during the Moon ceremony... "Why are we honoring the Seahawks broadcast guy?".

I'll always be a Houston Oilers fan...or at least a fan of the memories. It was a successful NFL team that was dear to the city, and we have no reason to be ashamed of the history or our passion for the team.

But they are not, and never were, Tennessee Titans. The players they attempt to honor are just going through the motions of accepting awards from a former employer, but not team. Just because an owner can keep records of a company (i.e. franchise), he can't take the history and memories. Those are for us, hometown fans.

I'd feel more sorry for Titans fans in Tennessee that will forever have to be reminded of records from an era they have no connection to, no memory of, and no emotional ties about. They can see the name Earl Campbell and look at number on paper or stone, but they have absolutely no depth about what he meant to football and this city. It was magical, and I would trade it for nothing.

I WAS an Oiler!! NOW, I'M A TEXAN!!!!!! I lived 36 years with the ups and downs of the Oiler organization. I went to the very first game the Oilers played in Houston, as I did the very first game the Texans played in Ohio, and I have not missed a TEXAN home game since the beginning. SOOOO, I have spent about 41 of my 61 years pulling for a LOSING team!! GAWD, PLEASE, let me see my team win a championship before I DIE!!!!!!:brickwall: I have SUFFERED far to LONG!!!!!:gun:

LOL, I hear ya Grandma. I am into this for a little over 30 years. Hopefully you're a fan of some other sports also and have seen your teams win championships (Rockets maybe?), though I know it is not the same when the NFL is your favorite sport.

I did have a great time during the NINERS reign!! During those years I had as much NINER stuff around my house as I did Oiler.lol I support all Houston teams and was very proud when the Rockets, Comets, and Dynamo brought home championships. Baseball is the most boring sport known to man, JMO, but, I watch the Astro's when they are doing well, which is rare. FOOTBALL is my passion though, and I refuse to call it quits, as in DYING, until I see my home team bring home the Lombardi!! You guys/gals might have to push me around in a w/c if the TEXANS don't get on with it, but, BY GAWD, I will see it happen!!:doot:

A fellow goat herder. As TedC would say, he felt like a goat clinging to the side of a mountain the one time he ventured up to nosebleed seats.

Yeah, that view looks all too familiar.

Funny story.

I went to a Pigskins and Pancakes breakfast with my wife and my Blue Crew pals decided to bid on some items at the end (Buzz and Michelle were just down a week earlier from Tennessee and pleaded for me to come see them in Leiper's Fork but we told them we were far too busy with remodeling our home to do it).

One of the items was a trip (air fare to and from Tennessee, 2 nights at a really nice hotel (the Titans were staying there) and 2 tickets to the game). My wife really wanted to go and we needed a tax write off so we did it.

The trip was wonderful but the seats had to be in the buy one, get one free section. My wife has a fear of heights and we went up there....slowly as she walked slower and slower to our seats, just a few rows from the top.

Doubled Barrell, I really don't remember posting that but "goat clinging to the side of a mountain" is exactly what it felt like.....and you don't want to be a goat in Tennessee.:dontknowa

I'm glad the Titans are associated with the great Houston Oilers players like Warren Moon, Earl Campbell, Earnest Givens, George Blanda.....
and Blaine Bishop, Bruce Matthews, Steve McNair and Frank Wycheck, Eddie George (all ex-titan players)

I'm proud of the Houston Oilers history :whip:

Im here, but it was hard because someone said " you cant hear from there" and I said " but where is there if your not here but going somewhere" ans they said " just remember where you are, and where you will be and thats where you can go when you will be free" ???????:gun:

Huh? What?...

Oh... um, I'm here... just trying to wake up from my hibernation during the off season...:shades:

Hey Gary. Good to hear from you.

A Tailgate tube? I don't know. I might scare a bunch of people with my glow in the dark legs.

I have attended a few toasts and partaken of a few shots, does that count? Oh yeah, I've also got a nametag.

I was wondering if you were still around (sorry if I've blindl;y missed you posting, lol).

Do Gwalla and GColby come around any more?

Also, with 2 parking spaces and buddies with my tickets who won't be out of the country every week due to work, we hope to get the shots going again :)
