if brown is there,take him

i dont think the front office will make the mistake of not giving schaub a good line up front. they should take brown even if landry is there. if AD is there, of course you take him, but if its between brown and landry, you have to go with brown. you can get a good free safety later in the 3rd or 4th, you can't get a starting left tackle after the 1st.

LT Levi Brown
LG Chester Pitts
C Fred Weary
RG Eric Winston
RT Charles Spencer

Weary was the top rated center in his draft class, and with both McKinney and Flanagan getting older, we should let Weary and Schaub gel for the future. You could also flipflop Spencer and Winston at G/T, depending on who they're more comfortable with. If Spencer isn't healthy though, you can put Black at RT. McKinney can backup at guard and center, Flanagan can backup at center, and Salaam can backup at both tackles.

In the 3rd, David Irons or Josh Wilson should be there.
4th round could be Michael Johnson if he's available. If not, take Paul Soliai to clog the middle.
5th i'd rake a receiver unless we haven't taken a safety yet. Laurent Robinson and Mike Walker are my favorite late round WR's. Roderick Rogers is my sleeper FS.

1 Brown OT
3 Irons CB
4 Johnson FS
5 Walker WR
6 Ryan DT

1 Brown OT
3 Irons CB
4 Soliai DT
5 Rogers FS
6 Robinson WR

I am skeptical of LEvi at #10 for some reason. I think we will trade down for extra picks. The fact that we swapped w/ ATL only goes to further prove that.

gattis is more of a strong safety playing free safety. he's better playing near the line.

michael johnson isnt that fast, in the 4.55-4.6 range, but he has great ball skills and instincts. i would rather have him than gattis.

perfect. I couldn't have said it better.

What's your thought on Gattis from Wake Forrest in the 3rd or 4th?

you talkin to me or htown? ehhh, i'll answer anyway. lol.

Gattis seems to be a darn good prospect. He looked good in the Clemson and L'Ville games, but other than that I didn't see much of him.

good insight! i think i'd have spencer at RG and winston at RT...but i don't know as much as kubes and sherman. Brown would be a real smart pick and he's slowly growing on me....again. secondary is just such a hole for me..but brown would be smart.

can i ask you why you'd move a tackle to guard?

if landry and the top 5 are gone. grab him up. schaub doesn't need to get gun shy right off the bat anyway.

but, being that schaub's left handed, wouldn't the most crucial pos. then be RT instead of LT??? omgz!!1!

but, if spencer does come back healthy, that does...dare i say...look like a decent line....wow, that just feels wierd saying...decent.Oline.texans.

first i want to see what winston can do at RT for a full season before we just move him to RG...i personally think 6'7'' is too tall for an inside guy...just that much harder for the QB to see around...and we are all spectulating that the staff wants to move weary to center which they may not want to do...they might like him at RG

as for levi brown...i've been torn on this guy ever since the beginning...on one hand i'm tired of seeing us pass on quality OT's for other positions...us passing on jamal brown in 05 really killed me...but on the other hand i seriously do not believe we are going to stay at the 10th spot...now that we've trade away our 2nd rounders in 07 and 08 i think we'll trade back to try and re-coop one or both of those picks

as for levi brown himself...the kid is going to be a LT in this league...i see a lot of levi jones in him...just hopefully he won't get beat up by joey porter...but if he's the guy and kubiak takes him...you won't hear any complaints from me

since when is schaub a lefty?

I'm not sure that Brown is a good choice for a zone blocking club that plays in a division with some seriouse edge rushers. No doubt he is a pretty good LT prospect for a regular power blocking scheme, but.........? Slayton might be the better choice in our situation. Brown has a higher floor, but a lower ceiling where Slayton has a lower floor, but a higher ceiling.

I'm still trying to understand where all this Levi hype is coming from..

I think we'll be fine with Spencer
we were fine with tony boselli
we were fine with seth wand
we were fine with victor riley

three great reasons why you don't take LT lightly. if spencer was healthy, then i might subdue wanting brown at #10. but the fact is, you just have no idea right now if he is going to play again, much less start the 2007 season on time. you skimp at that position, ypu trot out the victor riley's of the world, and you get shell shocked QB's and 2-14 seasons. you simply can't go into this season thinking that spencer is going to be OK or that Jordan Black, a career backup, is going to somehow jump in and lock down LT. levi brown is a premium prospect at a position of need. you talk about how we need safety, wide receiver, cornerback, etc. if ephraim salaam is our LT going into 2007 then i will feel the same way as if our starting RB's going into next year were dayne and taylor. otherwise, not good. the team just paid a steep price to get an upgrade at QB, and you want to hitch his wagon to the health of one Charles Spencer? i hope Spencer comes back and starts, but i am not holding my breath.

the point is, you cant find another left tackle that can start this year after the 1st round. this class is so thin, you cannot take the risk of passing on brown.

there will be good secondary players in the 3rd. much better db's than tackles. any tackle taken after the 1st will be a backup, and we dont need any more backups.

I think that we will have a lot of options for our 3rd rounder. That is where you pick up people who have been falling, or the lesser name guys. I predict we pick up another starter with our 3rd rounder.

Unless this team feels comfortable with Spencer's injury situation or is seeing a lot in a guy like Ryan Harris out of ND then I'm not expecting much out of the position this year.

Yeah we'll finda starter in the third round and hopefully it's ANOTHER lineman after taking Levi with the 10. Maybea Satetelle(sp) or Moses. I'd love to see the ESPN pundits faces after getting Schaub then taking Linemen with our first two picks. Mel Kiper will have to take his foot completely out of his mouth...personally i'd rather it stay in....disturbs me that i have to share oxygen with him.

Bad teams take boom or bust picks. Travis Johnson and Babin come to mind.

I honestly believe that with drafting Levi Brown at the #10 spot will finally shut up the critics, and push our team in the right direction. A younger, more athletic secondary can be found in round 3. Heck, CC and Earl have been drafted greater than the 4th round.

Do it right and draft Levi.
