I'm a little sad, but know it's for the best

I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels this way, but today, I am a little sad.

I remember watching the 02 draft, and being ecstatic, thinking David was the person who was going to take us where we needed to be. I thought he had all the physical tools, the mental ones as well. Plus, I thought he'd be a very good face for our new team.

I think it's best for him to go, but it still doesn't mean I am not disappointed to see him leave, and I still wish he could have carried us.

David is one heck of a young man. He represents everything I try and teach my students to be on a regular basis. I wish him nothing but the best, and I know he will be successful wherever he goes.

Thanks for everything David! I only hope we are respectful to him when he plays in Reliant next time.

WELCOME MATT SCHAUB!

Remember that opening game against Dallas in 2002? After the game, the way Carr had played, and the emotion... I can't lie, as much as I want to move on and give Schaub a shot... I'll miss Carr.

Ditto again... and best of luck wherever he ends up.

I can't agree more with Ash. David came into a situation and never once made the team or the city look bad.

David was the face to this franchise for 5 years and spent most of that on his back. Were there times that David din't play up to the level of the #1 overal pick, yes. But he also left everything on the field.

I'm also alittle sad to this see that day come. I knew it was for the best of this franchise but it is still alittle sad.:cry2:

I wish David good luck and I hope he turns into a pro bowl qb where ever he goes. That being said...

Welcome to Houston Matt Schaub!!

I agree, I always really rooted for David. All the beatings he's taken and the toughness he showed, I really liked that. Plus the Dave-haters were (are) always so mean spirited and classless towards David and his family (beer incident against Cleveland, 3/4 of the thinds said on this board). And I wanted him to shut them up so badly. It is sad he will not be able to make that happen.

Wherever Dave goes, I wish him and his family nothing but the absolute best that life has to offer, and I hope he can make good on all his potential.

I would like to thank Mr. Carr for fighting for our team all of these years and for being a class guy.

I know there have been many negative fans, but I hope Mr. Carr knows that there are many of us who respect him and wish him the very best.

yup, I just finished reading a piece from Richard Justice talking about Carr. Its funny how I wanted a change but when it happened it's such a sad note. Hopefully David Carr gets a better deal somewhere esle. :crutch:

While I am glad the Texans are going in a new direction, I just can't forget him leading us to a 19-10 win over the Cowboys to start off the '02 season. Never before in my life had I been so happy. For the longest time, whenever I thought "Texans", I thought "Carr". I just hope for the best for him if he ends up somewhere else.

Dito.

Good luck and I sincerely hope he does well wherever he ends up...

I've been a Carr supporter around here but I know it is time to bring in a guy that doesn't have the history Carr has here.

Thanks for the memories David, you are a great guy, awesome competitor and a tough son of a gun. Farewell.

I really hope to see the Texans beat him down in the playoffs in the near future.

I'm not sad. I wish David Carr the best with his future team, but I can't be anything but cautiously optimistic about our future.

I'm not one to live the past, though. Onward, upward, and back into the trees!

I will proudly sport my Carr jersy the entire year next year. One last farewell to a person who represented the Texans and Houston very well. He was never able to completely put it together on the field but he never trashed the organization or any of the players. David as fans we appreciate you helping us get the organization started and we hope to meet you in the Superbowl.
As for the next year my Ryans jersey will be waiting its turn.

Carr's a class act that came into a tough situation and never could overcome it.

I hope that his family and friends check in every now and then. I'd like to know how he's coming along in the next town.

Best of luck.

The sadness is that we did not do this earlier - 2002 (Peppers) or 2006 (not extend) would have been great. Carr's best days are behind him. The Texans best days are in front of them.

Today is a great day to be a Texan. :texflag:

What he said.

But...

I have a new QB to root for his name is...

MATT SCHAUB

Welcome to H town baby!

When he is traded it will be interesting to see how he reacts. If he acts as classy as he has bene while here, I salute him. If he takes the opportunity to bash the franchise shame on him. ~shakes finger disapprovingly~

Carr's legacy will be one that the Texans failed him, not that he failed the Texans.

I am of the opinion that it was time for a change for both David and the Texans in order for all to grow. The class he showed by taking the high road and not getting caught up in all the negative publicity he has endured throughout the past couple years make me respect him tremendously as a person. I do hope that he goes to a team and succeeds with a fresh start.

Good role model, all around great guy.

Surely he will be missed in the Community.

I will miss him at my church, too. Other than that.....

BRING IN SCHAUB!!!!!:wild:

I am the opposite. I am ecstatic!!!!!!! Finally we will see what Andre can do now that he is paired with an NFL QB. I can't wait for that 1st HUGE TD of like 65 yards. That used to only be a dream. Sadly AJ's longest play ever is 54yards. That will be a thing of the past in 2007. Slow as molasses Keyshawn Johnson has longer receptions.

100 catches? maybe not, but BIG TIME PLAYS, you bet!

I have to say that for 5 solid seasons I stayed with David Carr and supported him. I will be sad to see him go because I knew he tried his hardest. For an expansion team, he did all we could've asked for and more.

I will always remember David for the 1st victory ever - beating Dallas 19-10, the Leap of Faith to beat Jacksonville, heck beating the Jags more than any team, finally beating Indy and leaving us on a two game win streak.

Good luck David, Welcome Matt!!!!

Andre finished last year with 103 catches and over 1100 yards. Believe it or not David got the ball to Andre.

I know alot of people on here dont like David that much, but remember the good times...especially when we beat dallas..i thought that David was gods gift to us that night..

another one my favorites was when we won the game against the jags when david leaped over the goalline...that was a classic

David im gonna miss u, and I shall always remeber these moments in our young history...Good luck david and thanks 4 the memories!!!:violin

This is the third such thread, just a head's up.

That aside, I'd like to think almost all of us hear share those feelings. Nothing can ever touch that first win over Dallas... spectacular.

yup. i remember how when he tucked the ball behind him on that play action pass, i thought he was the einstien of football.

I wish David the best of luck wherever his career from here on out takes him. He's a class act & a good guy. He just wasn't able to cut it as the starting QB for the Texans. Then again not many rookie QBs who were put in his situation would find much success. It was time to change things up & I sincerely believe that both the Texans & David will benefit from the change.

Quoted for Truth!!

Just like to add that I think Carr is one of a small handfull of professional athletes I wouldn't mind my boys looking up to.

You might be counting your chicken before there hatched.

I still fondly remember those days when David was drafted by the Texans. It seemed like the entire city was fascinated and in love with him. And after the Dallas game it seemed like DC and the Texans were headed for greatness. But now 5 years later the situation is much different and looking back I think it was a mistake starting him right off the bat. I was actually for sitting him a year or two and letting guys like Kent Graham play. Anyway, DC's a great guy and he's all class. I wish him the very best.

I'm sad to see this happen as well. I recall with great clarity that leap to beat Jackonsville and the pure joy on his face when he did it. He has it in him and wherever he goes, I hope he finds that every Sunday.

I also remember when we beat the Cowboys that first year. David Carr had carte blanche on the City of Houston. Man how things have changed...

David, you will be missed by this fan for sure. Wish all the Best for you and your family...

How soon people can forget, but oh well...

I wish him the best. I still with that I could have seen more of him in a Texans uniform. I hope he does well in his next team.

I just had a thought, what if David read the message boards, and we made him so depressed that he couldn't play well in the games. I personally would burst out crying because it was us, the fans that made our team lose by insulting David. We were so mad at David for making us lose, but it might have been us making the Texans lose. It is a possibility.:cry2:

WELCOME MATT SCHAUB!

I wouldn't be upset if David Carr ended up playing in the CFL when it's all said and done. I won't miss you David and I'm glad you're gone! We can finally move forward without you dragging this entire franchise down with your lack of heart.

oh good lord tell me you don't really believe this.

I dont think David's Net-Nanny software would let him visit this place :)

David is probably a pretty happy guy today to be honest. He made almost 3 million last week and now looks like he is going to be able to test the free agency waters and choose the team he goes to. He would be an upgrade at backup for a few teams for sure. Geez, he could start for Oakland, Minnesota, or Cleveland pretty much with ease. He is probably doing pretty damn good right about now.

So when is Schaub going to take Dom Davis/Williams' place? Let's photoshop something together and make it happen. the cheesier the better.

oh good lord tell me you don't really believe this.

I don't believe it myself, but once the Haters were out in the worst at the end of last year, he truly could not throw the football worth anything. I was just trying to add another thought into this thread.

I really hope that I didn't kill this thread. It really was very good.

PD already has his banner with the developers. Schaub will have to wait for a couple of years. ;)

that's DeMeco Ryans on the left and Andre Johnson on the right.

Carr's legacy will be one that the Texans failed him, not that he failed the Texans.

ditto, the media wanted Vince, so they turned on him and the masses followed. Every NFL guy on TV seems to get it. We never gave Carr a chance and despite his O-line being the biggest joke in NFL history, I remember him getting mad when asked a negative question about them.

I remember the Dallas game, all the games we beat the Jags, his juke move during the Saints game, and the game Vs. the Falcons where he came in with a badly hurt arm and lead us to a victory (ESPN decided to freak out that VIck came off the sidelines and skip Carr coming off the bench as well).

This organization failed him, and half of the typical ***** H-town fans failed to show the same dissapointment at the O-line as they did to Carr.

Im glad he is gone, he can go somewhere and be a success.

Welcome to H-town Schaub, get comfortable on your back, and in 2 years, it will be YOUR FAULT!

oh good lord tell me you don't really believe this.

This is the funniest thing I've read all day. Well-played.

I can see the hand to the forehead as the head is shaken back and forth, eyes closed in disgust.

You are a poet.

simply hilarious...Andre frowning is freaking hilarious...fisher-price style

actually there is probably a lot of talent on this forum. you should have a contest where the members vote on the 3 to be displayed (no Stanley votes please)

once the 3 are determined there would be a 2nd contest to see who could create and submit the best banner. winner would be given 2 tickets to game and get some face time during a game (ala Halliburton Heroes)

OT - our seats are right behind the Halliburton Heroes..you may have seen me giving the 'peace' sign in civil protest to that cannibalistic corporation. *liberal alert*
