...the message is clear: Schaub wasn’t going to take them there.

Guess what? If the Falcons really thought Schaub was prime real estate, they wouldn’t be trading him.

I call bullsh!t on that.. Vick gets to much money and no team would take a RB playing QB off the Falcons hands.. Their owner is in love with him..

I agree, and who tries to argue that Vick's back-up would see any playing time smokes more pot then Ron Mexico. I think if the owner hadn't said no, Schaub would have started more game sunder Mora Jr.

Lol... many here have said that McNair is in love with Carr, Carr gets too much money.........and Carr is leaving.

And its hard to move Carr because he has 2 years on his contract. Theres no way ATL was going to find a taker for Vick 100 million dollar contract.

I think what's being forgotten is that Schaub refused to sign a new deal, so they have to trade him. Otherwise, they lose him next year with no compensation.

Exactly...

And with 5 big name QB's coming out of the draft next year, why make this move now? Band-aid patch? Maybe... But wasn't the smartest of moves as I see it.

But I guess I will see just like the rest of the fans what this means in the upcoming season.

I was in the get Adrian Peterson this year camp and a starting QB next year... But now looks like Levi Brown will be our 1st round pick even more so now...

But I will get several negative reps and people will say I am clueless, but I think you build through the draft and leave these band-aid patch work ideas out... Yea, a 10 year veteran running back is gonna be our answer at RB and now a 3 year veteran back-up QB is gonna throw the hail Mary pass over and over for TD's. He is 0-2 with 6 TD's and 6 Int's. How is this an upgrade for our team?

One thing is for sure, we have allot of back-ups on our team....

In Atlanta there are two very distinct camps of schaub vs vick. Kinda like the carr haters vs the carr lovers on this board. The bottom line is we will find out in september!

And those would be? I don't see any big names on that list.

I hope to good the other thing this trade does is stop all the pinning for Peterson. Yes, I know dude is a stud; but the chances of him falling to us at 8 were slim and none and slim had already left the building.

And I'll take Schaub's 6 TDs and 6 INTs over Carr's 2 TDs in his last 10 games.

I am going to get this on the record now.

Folks. Things are going to get a little bumpy as first with Schaub. He's going to take some licks and make some mistakes. It will happen.

However, I think his up side is huge and by the 2nd half of next season we will all be glad he is here.

What on Earth makes you think this move is band-aid move? This is as much of a band-aid as Favre to GB or Hasselbeck to Seattle. Of course there is downside risk as well. Rob Johnson was the fix in Buff and it did not work out. But, it's not as if they traded for Johnson thinking he was a band-aid. Make no question about it, this is a long term move at QB. This is no band-aid. There is even more risk in drafting a rookie QB. Is drafting a rookie a band-aid? Your post makes absouletely zezro sense.

None of which are as impressive as the class that we just passed on last year. Getting Schaub was the best available way to fix that mistake.

Let's hope Petrino's anaylisis of Vick is as accurate as Kubiak's was of Carr.

I also agree with the sentiment that this decision was based more on money than it was on talent.

First of all, if you take out statistics from his rookie year (when every quarterback in the world sucks), it's 5 TD and 2 INT. Second, however, trying to judge a quarterback by record/statistics when they've started all of two games in the NFL is absolutely hilarious and ridiculous.

Those Green Bay Packers must be idiots. Why in the world would they trade for a band-aid patch work QB named Brett Favre in 1992 with 0 TD, 2 INT and a 0.0 rating who hadn't won a game as a starter? How is that an upgrade for their team? Those idiots... what were they thinking acquiring a backup?

Fact - We have allot of needs, not just at QB
Fact - The draft class of QB's next year will be tremendous.
Fact - This guy has NOT even won a game in the NFL, so how is he better than a rookie?
Fact - The main reason for this move is because a majority of the fans wanted Carr's head on a silver platter...

We could have drafted Mr. Heisman in the 2nd or a Kolb in the 3rd and another QB next year with out 1st pick out of that 5 I mentioned. That would have given us 2 quality QB's at a cheaper price. A starter and a back-up.

That is a band-aid patch. I do not think for 1 minute that Matt is some pot of gold that we just magically grabbed...

Let's keep our cool and put the chicken little mentality to rest until we see the dude play.

Shaub wasn't going to start ahead of Vick, so it shouldn't be held against him. It's another case of an owner's attachment to an individual player overriding coaching decisions. We know all about that.

This article assumes the infallibility of Bobby Petrino and Arthur Blank. Seems to me that we had some front-office and coaching people last year that said our quarterback was the guy.

My guess is that Petrino will be fired in a couple of seasons, and the Falcons will continue to look for receiving answers because they have to get weapons for their megastar.

The perception of McNair's relationship with Carr is the reality of Blank and Vick, in my opinion.

Only time will tell but I think we ended up with Atlanta's best quarterback.

Atlanta would look like the most foolish franchise ever if they gave all that money to Vick and then benched him. Their hands are tied with him more than ours are with Carr.

You lost all respect and credibility with this list. Polk, Kolb, Zabransky and Troy Smith with better ratings than all of these guys except Brennan. So amyn call Kolb a system QB, what in the heck would you call Brennan? He is in the 2000's version of the run and shoot.

Hombred why is it everyone wants a change at QB until something is actually done and then it is wait until next year when that draft class of QBs will be the second coming of eveything.

I can't say I see this as a band-aid move either. The players we got that are 30+ years old (Green, etc.) will see us through another couple of seasons if need be, but Schaub is 27 if I am not mistaken, and not beat up from his 3 years in the NFL. Assuming he pans out, he could be the QB for many years to come.

As far as Adrian, I think there is an outside chance he will be there at #10, if Cleveland decides on Quinn. Unfortunately, Atlanta will probably grab Landry with the #8, but then there are a lot of talented CB's and Safties in the mix this year.

Lost respect and creditability? How can you say that until these kids have had there senior years? They are the future of the NFL. But don't take my word on it, sit back and watch. Out of those 5, 2 will be flops. It's history. But 3 will be starters. Your guess is as good as mine as to which 3 that will be. Or even 2...

I just didn't want to sell the farm in hopes of getting a ranch. And a 2000 version of the run and shoot is a bad thing? I want points on the scoreboard. I want shoot out games...

I would rather watch my team lose a 50 to 49 game than to watch them lose a 7 to 3 game. But that is just me. Both are losses, but 1 was a heck of an exciting game that kept me on the edge of my seat while the other I fell asleep watching....

The run and shoot is a one dimensional offense that NFL defenses figured out a long time ago. It is best left for colleges to run at this point, unless it's just a package that a multi-dimensional (and talented) NFL offense wants to run every once in awhile.

What kind of dumb question was "What do you think about the Hispanic fans?". ??

Uhh, the same as I think about the white and black fans ...

I think that list of 5 is better than kolb, polk, zabransky and troy smith. ratings dont mean a whole lost...it's all about them being pro prospects.

we'll see in the future because i really couldn't give a correct answer lol

Agreed. Yesterday both the announcer for the Falcons and a writer from the AJC said that there is no way he was going to play over a $100 million player. They also said his stats and people that pull them out are full of it. He got mop up duty all but once and it was always late and he was trhowing deep and had some up for grabs picks. This was in the interviews yesterday. People just aren't happy unless they are twisting facts.
