Texans on Cold Pizza

Ole Miss Texan

Hall of Fame
Just though i'd let everyone know i heard a 'lil 'lil about the texans on cold pizza this morning.

-Started by talking about the Cowboys really liking Kevin Kolb and would like to have him, but not to the extent of picking him too early, because of Romo.

-Dana then asked about the Texans

-whoever the lady was talking about the nfl said something along the lines of...

after talking to inside sources (either w/ the texans or around the nfl...didn't hear) there is a 0% chance the Texans will move up in this year's draft. There has been a lot of speculation and rumors of them trading up for Adrian Peterson but the texans will not.

She said if Brady Quinn or Adrian Peterson are there at 8, they are the pick but that the Texans don't think they are going to be there.

She also said the Texans are willing to move down (I think she said that...i may have just confused it with something Smith said...lol)
-----------------------------------------------------

So nothing too new, take this how you want to..could all be bogus but I think Peterson has a better chance of falling to us at 8 than we do of trading up to #2 or 3 overall.

Just like there was no way in hell we would pass on Reggie Bush. I don't think we will move up but she knows just as well as we do.

I just thought it was kind of refreshing to see someone else with the head on right. I'm tired of hearing about all these rumors of us moving up. we can't be giving up 1st day picks, or our 1st rounder next season to move up. oh and carr is only worth so much....barely a 3rd rounder by pure speculation. I simply don't see us moving up and that it would be a bad move with us needing about 10 new guys for our long term benifit. QB,RB,WR2,OT/G,C,DT,DE,OLB,CB2,FS that's too many for us to move up to 2 or 3.

I dont think that she knows what she is talking about. IMO

Bingo !
Lets see now, she said the Texans might move down. And then she says the
Texans might move up. Of course that implies they might not do anything but sit tight at 8. That just about covers everything.

Honestly, she sounds dead on. With the Texans stubborness about their picks this year I wouldn't be surprised if they moved down for picks if none of their guys are there. IMHO you could do it and still get a Nelson at FS or some other talented players. It was also open up trade offers with extra picks obtained. People may find this crazy but I still think they are looking for a pick to throw out there for Plummer's rights.

That completely jives with everything my sources have said so far. No trade up, possible trade down, will think about grabbing AP or Quinn if they fall at #8.

I don't think she ever said the texans might move up...if I miswrote/interpreted anything my apologies. She said there was a 0% chance the texans move up. if quinn or peterson are there at 8 we will take one of them. We will either stay at 8 or trade down.

here is my take

99% we wont move up
80% we dump/trade Carr before end of June
90% Carr isnt Texans starter
10% AP falls to Texans
25% Quinn falls to Texans
33% Landry drafted by Texans
15% We trade down slightly and pick Levi or Nelson
25% Mario gets 10 or more sacks
30% 2 Texans make Pro Bowl

With Carr, chance of winning 8 or more games - 10%
With Sage, chance of winning 8 or more games - 50%

To clarify by moving up I mean moving into picks 1-7.

By moving down I mean picks 9-32. Maybe moving back is a better was of saying that.

that can be confusing.

exactly. for all we know Russell could fall to us and not Quinn. Once Moss is traded I think the Raiders are going Calvin Johnson all the way. That shakes everything up and creates a chance for Russell or Quinn or AP to fall to us at #8.

i would rate the top5 draft
calvin johnson
adrian peterson
joe thomas
brady quinn
jamarcus russell

Wow I agree with almost everything you are saying. Hopefully we get 3 to go to the pro bowl.

if we can improve the QB and Center positions (Carr out at QB and find a new quality Center), I think we could really be kinda decent this year. I feel the defense is definitely on the upswing. We got a lot of hunger and youth on that roster right now. Play good at home and get a few breaks along the way and the Texans could win 10 games next year.

It's not out of the realm of possibilities. If you can put together a 6-2 record at home, you only need to go .500 on the road to put together a 10-6 season. I would love to see a 'House Of Pain' atmosphere in Reliant. There hasnt been a lot to go crazy about but I think if the team can start playing well it could have a snowball effect for our home field advantage.

I agree if the fans had something to cheer about then it would be crazy, Ive been to every game since day 1 and I know its deff getting quieter every game (exept for the boos) but if we the fans had something to cheer about I know how loud that stadium can be and it would be a awesome thing and could hopefully be a real home field advantage.

yeah, its all about getting difference makers and guys that can make the players around them better. Filling holes in the early 1st Round is never a good idea, just get the best player available when you have a Top10 pick and things tend to work out in the end.

Yea I dont think CC would agree with you

yup and I didn't renew my tickets (kept my PSLs) this year so that will be one less (four actually) fans cheering too. yeah, the last two years have been pretty boring experiences at Reliant. Normally you enjoy the tailgating more than the product on the field....i hope that continues to change (3-2 final 5 games)

instead of moving down why don't we just take Landry??? (if quinn/peterson aren't available)

You know I'm all for it...

Anthony Weaver---Travis Johnson--Anthony Maddox---Mario Williams

Shawn Barber---Demeco Ryans---Morlon Greenwood

Dunta Robinson--Glenn Earl---Laron Landry--Demarcus Faggins

?- How do the signings of Barber and Clark fit into our LB situation? is clark a mlb...what do y'all see as the three LB's we will have as starters.

I think Landry would definitly have the most impact of any defensive choice we would have at 8..even if all the top guys are available.

Situation- Quinn,Thomas, Johnson, and Peterson are gone
Question-Who do you take between Russell and Landry!?
-obvious question is jamarcus easy...but how confident are y'all about him? I think I'd rather have quinn...would you look for trade down, take russell, landry, or someone else?

IMO if neither Quinn or PT aren't avaliable drafting Landry would be a very safe and hhelpful pick. He would immediately improve our secondary and would help our horrible deep pass coverage.
I belive though that if that happens we would instead trade down and collect a 3rd or 4th round pick and then select Levi brown who we might be thinking about at 8 or draft Nelson possibly.

The person on Cold Pizza who gave this information is Charean Williams who is a sports reporter for the Fort Worth Star Telegram. Following are the points she made:

*"If either Brady Quinn or Adrian Peterson is available at #8, we will take them. However, we will not move up to get them".

*"The Texans will take a QB in 3rd or 4th round to groom behind Sage Rosenfels who the Texans feel is good enough to start for a year". Interesting that there was no mention of Carr.

*"The Texans are happy with the current running back situation".

I don't know who Charean Williams is or where she gets this information. It seems that everybody is a sports reporter and "expert" now days.
