A couple of questions about the Texans

Practice Squad
Hi guys, would appreciate some info on your team (I'm a Redskins fan by the way) as I'm just spending some time this off-season trying to find out about players and teams I seem to not see a lot of.

Anyway:

Who are the Texans ten best players? Rank 'em if you like and I realize that might be a big ask so just the best in your opinions would do, regardless of how many.

CC Brown - is this guy any good and is he the long term future at free safety?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

1- It's really hard to do this, but i'll try.
1. Andre Johnson (WR)
2. DeMeco Ryans (MLB)
3. Ahman Green (RB)
4. Dunta Robinson (CB)
5. Charles Spencer (LT)
6. Chester Pitts (LG)
7. Mario Williams (DE)
8. Vonta Leach (FB)
9. Jerome Mathis (KR)
10. Anthony Maddox (DT)

2- C.C. Brown is a SS playing FS... he has good speed, but he's a serious liability in coverage. He bites a LOT on play action. A good athlete, but doesn't really play smart.

Welcome to the board

top 10 players

1)Andre Johnson
2)Demeco Ryans
3)Mario Williams
4)D-robinison
5)Jerome Mathis(when healthy)
6)Chester Pitts (best lineman)
7)Ahman Green
8)Charles Spencer(from what little we saw and if he is healthy)
9)Anthony Weaver
10)Eric Winston

wow that was actually tough on the last few (I left out a certain somebody for argumentive sakes even though I think he has talent)

CC brown, i wouldn't say he is long term, is is ok,but we could use an upgrade

1.(WR) Andre Johnson (future hall of famer)
2.(MLB) Demeco Ryans (had a great rookie season)
3.(CB) Dunta Robinson (good but needs help)
4.(DE) Mario Williams (hasn't shown up yet)
5.(QB) David Carr (could have been great)
6.(OL) Chester Pitts (most consistent)
7.(HC) Gary Kubiak (does he count)
8.(FB) Vonta Leach (this guy's good)
9.(KR/WR) Jerome Mathis (when healthy)
10.(OL) Steve McKinney (?)

This is my top 10. :texans:

I don't think C.C. will start here for much longer.

1. Andre Johnson
2. Demeco Ryans
3. Jerome Mathis
4. Chester Pitts
5. Mario Williams
6. Anthony Weaver
7. Chad Stanley
8. Owen Daniels
9. Eric Winston
10. Vonta Leach

CC Brown is inconsistent. Sometimes he's great, more often than not, he's average to below average.

If anyone is familiar with the group technique called multivoting, this is the perfect application. The top 2 will be clear but there will be quite a bit of variation in 3-10.

Someone just needs to copy/paste each voter's list into excel. Give the #1 player 10 points - give the #10 player 1 point. Tally the results across the board after everyone has cast their ballot.

No, I'm not volunteering to do this.

1. Andre Johnson
2. Demeco Ryans
3. Dunta Robinson
4. Mario Williams
5. Demarcus Faggins
6. Vonta Leach
7. Kevin Walter
8. Anthony Maddox
9. Owen Daniels
10. Chester Pitts

I became a fan of CC Brown after he knocked the hell out of Ben Utecht in the first Indy game this season. Even knocked his helmet off. The DB's were pretty bad as a unit. I don't think that CC was any more of a liability than anyone else back there.

talent wise

1. Andre Johnson
2. Demeco Ryans
3. Duante Robinson
4. Mario Williams
5. Anthony Weaver
6. Ahman Green
7. Chester Pitts
8. Owen Daniels
9. Vonta Leach
10. David Carr

I cant say if Spencer is good or not.. he played like 3 games. Mathis is injury prone. Winston needs experience

1. Andre Johnson
2. Demeco Ryans
3. Chester Pitts
4. Dunta Robinson
5. Mario Williams
6. Owen Daniels
7. Ahman Green
8. Anthony Weaver
9. Charles Spencer
10. Fred Weary

Washington fan named Gman huh?? Okay.

Anyway. Why the concern about CC??

I like him. I like Earl. I think we need two corners with some coverage skills. I'd rate Faggins over Dunta as a pure Corner... Dunta's a better football player.

Top Ten??

Andre Johnson...
Demeco Ryans..
Dominic Williams(formerly Davis)
Mark Bruener..
Owen Daniels..
Damarcus Faggins..
Anthony Weaver..
Kevin Walther..
CC Browm...
Glen Earl..

legitimate pro-bowl level player who starts for nearly every team in the league
andre Johnson

Players who start for more team than not

dunta Robinson
Demeco Ryans
Chester Pitts
Mario williams (really because of his potential)

Solid starters, but not special

Anthony Weaver
owen daniel
Ahman Green
Kris Brown

Guys with "potential" to be in the above categories, good risks to move up

Spencer
Winston
Kevin Walter
Mathis (only as a returner)
Fred Weary
Vonta Leach

i would add Weaver to those that can start for most team than not.. remember he was a starter for the Ravens a year ago

he and Pitts were the toughest to place, because every team has and needs players of that calibur.

Good list.

I vote this thread as the most depressing thread evaaaar.

yeah..our core talent base is not really much if any better than when we were truly an expansion frachise...sigh

I started to also post Denny Green "They are what we think they are" players

(bunches of over 30 signings & career special teamers here)

&

Guys we hope get better versus really think they will become better

(3 first rounders & young back-up RBs here)

we may be lacking in talent a bit, but that's a HUGE stretch... HUGE.

The proof is in the record. Our first year defense was a legitimate NFL unit with at least 5 solid or above NFL players. The kicking game was the same one we have now. The offense was terrible. So entering our sixth season by my estimation we have 9 solid starters over the 6 or 7 we had then. No stretch at all.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

And AT, the Gman refers to Gary Clark, my all time favourite Redskins player who called himself the 'Gman' although I realise it looks bad :)

1) Andre Johnson
2) Demeco Ryans

10. Vonta Leach

I'm really surprised at the lack of respect for Mario Williams in this thread.

Based on coachdent's charting of the D towards the end of the 2006 season, Mario effectively shut down opponents running on his half of the field. On an injured foot, no less. Now he didn't get sacks, I'll grant, but I attribute much of that to the injury, being a rookie, and the failure of the secondary to keep receivers locked down long enough for us to have a pass rush.

1. Andre Johnson (one of the best receivers in the whole nfl...he tells the other texans what hawaii is like)
2. Demeco Ryans (Leader of the team and only a rookie, special talent)
3. Mario Williams (dominant run stuffer on one foot, think when he has two)
4. Dunta Robinson (good corner but needs help)
5. Chester Pitts (most solid olineman we've had)
6. Ahman Green (domanick's career is over, green will take his place)
7. Charles Spencer (showed great potential before injury)
8. Anthony Weaver (solid veteran)
9. David Carr (showed great potential before Casserley's lack of o-line)
10.Jerome Mathis (Returnman only, seems to be always injured though, we're in the game if he's healthy)

****C.C. Brown is not our long term answer at Free Safety. He and Glenn Earl should be our SS (1 starter the other depth).

****This is why i am very pro Laron Landry for our 1st pick.
