Where is Dayne heading?

I haven't seen or heard much about Dayne. Any word on other teams looking at him? Miami is needing an RB and I thought they had some interest in him last year before signing with the Texans.

I don't think we need a starting RB. We have Ronnie Brown...and Ricky Williams will most likely back him up. That said, it would be nice to have one more guy. I think we were primarily looking for a good blocking fullback.

Man I hated to see us lose Sammy Morris. He looked good when he started during those 3 games that Ronnie Brown was out with injury. Something tells me he will be the Patriots feature RB this year. Man, the Patriots really purged our talent this year....with Morris and Wes Welker. Welker was one of our top receivers...as well as the best punt and kickoff returners we have ever had in Miami. He was a real ironman.

I think we played this perfectly. Ron Dayne has been available for a week and a half and no offers and no visits. Now we can probably get a discount on him. The Texans are trying to re-sign Dayne.

hopefully back here with us to keep pressure on green to perform well..and to push these younger guys to be on the top of their game...because last year lundy didn't impress me at all...and taylor i didn't see enough of to make any conclusions on him...so we need dayne back

I really hope he ends up back here and happy. I liked Dayne a lot. He may not be the heiman winner we hoped he would be but..he's a real team player and I thought he had a good attitude here.

I really wanted us to resign him and salaam, when we didn't i was really disappointed. We then signe salaam..i assumed it was to try and get him cheaper and that'd we'd do the same with dayne..i'm yet to be pleased.

Just because there is nothing being reported in the media doesn't mean he is sitting at home without the phone ringing. After what he did last year with the Texans I am sure he has plenty of teams interested in him.

Does anybody know if the TEXANS are interested in him? or are we "content" with who we have now?
I heard some rumblings not too long ago about the Eagles expressing interest in Dayne. That may still be a possibility after they struck out with Dillon not too long ago. I personally would like to see him back for short yardage situations ONLY. I hope they don't forget about Taylor though.

BUENO!
Man rushes for 612 yards in only 6 starts, averages 4.1 yards a carry (4.8 in the month of December when he was finally healthy) and leads us to a 3-2 record over the last 5 games (could have potentially been a a 4-1 record but our defense couldn't figure out how to contain Vince Young) and this is what he gets. Fat jokes.

The man should be our starting RB next season.

:wild: Big bad Dayne needs to be a texan....imo he's one of the few that 'deserves' to be a texan (i view that as a compliment...others may not.)lol

Put me down as a yes for crazy. Sorry, never met a question I would not answer and I also happen to be a devoted ambiguous yes man.
Two good runners in the same backfield for a running team? I guess it doesn't fit the philosophy or scheme. Crazy.

In a simplistic sense it does not. Anyone can run, but it is those that block and run that are successful.
If you put Taylor at RB and Dayne at FB in a goal line situation, you could really throw some defenses off. Why? Because most defenses are going to look at that and think Dayne's getting the ball because he's more of a pile pusher. Or vice versa, you like Dayne at RB and Taylor at FB. Run Taylor on a wheel route, fake it to Dayne, roll Sage out right and Taylor's wide open in the middle of the end zone.

I completely agree with you. I'm on the Dayne Trayne...
he did a hell of a job for us when we needed it and no one else could, can't say that for our "Star Running Back" D. Davis (*williams).

I was impressed with Dayne last year. He obviously didn't have any stamina when he first got here but as the season wore on and he got in shape, he picked it up. At times, he looked like the very same guy who won the Heisman at Wisconsin: tough runner who pushes off for a couple of extra yards when tackled.

Though he was used heavily at Wisconsin, he hasn't really been overworked in the NFL and should have lots of mileage left...

vs colts 11 attempts 37 yards

vs RSkins 14 attempts 58 yards

vs Phins 22 attempts 58 yards - at least we are consistent

vs Dallas 10 attempts 14 yards

Takes a month off

vs Raiders 18 attempts 95 yards

vs Titans 21 attempts 87 yards

vs Pats 18 attempts 94 yards

vs Colts 32 attempts 153 yards

Four games at the end of the season accounts for 429 yards of his 612. Officially he played in 11 games but only carried the ball in nine.

Not the type of back I am looking for. Sorry. We already had James Allen once. Maybe Dayne should take up rap too.

You must remember Dayne was injured (turf toe) the first half of the season and your O line was far from stellar~

Exactly. Turf toe has that effect on running backs. I see that fans of a team that's actually seen effective running back play don't have a problem wrapping their heads around that concept.

Dayne was inactive for the Eagles game.

If we resign Dayne that would end half the board's fantasy that we're gonna somehow get All Day.

But seeing as we haven't signed him the fantasy lives on until proven otherwise!!!

I just heard that he is in Florida this weekend and probably not there vacation and trying to find some news if anyone had it.

IMO dayne would be the perfect compliment back to ahman green...when the defense is tired of chasing green we put in big ole dayne and let him run right up the gut on them...breaking a few while green gets his breather...but if we don't get him back then we have lundy and taylor to help green out...lundy is more of a back-up in my eyes...taylor has potential to become a starter i think...then we have gado...to me he's just confusing

i'd definitely love to keep dayne, not only because i simply prefer power guys, but because once he got behind leach (those healthy 4 games mentioned earlier), dayne was a menace. those two worked together extremely well and for the price we're not going to find a better back. dayne's probably the perfect blend of what both sherman and kubiak want to do on offense, and bonus points for knowing each system. keep dayne.

i dont see him as much of a fullback, and it would be a waste to remove leach from those downs in order to try and be creative.

I heard a rumour (and it is only a rumour) that the Bears were looking to meet with him - back up for Cedric Benson.

I wouldn't just let him go, I would try to work a sign and trade IF I wanted to let him go. If we could sign and trade and pick up a draft pick for him, I may consider it. On the other hand, this guy could be our version of Jerome Bettis. Every team needs a bruiser at RB, even if he is only out there on short yardage plays.

IMO we need to keep Dayne & Taylor to go with Green and maybe shop Lundy for a second day pick.

I bet Dayne could lay the wood on someone - if he wanted to.
Considering how much he damage he makes not even trying :)

I would love to see Dayne back, he was the only consistant guy in our backfield last season.
Dayne as FB? hm... if you could get him and the RB on the same page, he could be an absolute killer, few RB's his as hard as him, and stays up.

Oh, and the fat jokes, I hope more of our players would do whatever Dayne is doing, because it sure worked for him :)

If Correll Buckhalter leaves in FA, expect Dayne to get some interest from up there. But so far, there hasn't been a lot of interest in Buckhalter.

Only visit I heard Buck had was Denver. Was very early. He will not get much interest due to injury history. Probably stays in Philly on another one year deal.

that's what i think as well...it would keep the defense tired...and the green could come back in well rested...(in theory at least!)

How about, we let Dayne go. No interest from any other teams in the league should tell you something. We should take Peterson or Lynch to keep the pressure on Green to perform well. A rook of these 2 guys caliber will definitly keep Green on his toes. Our running game would be so much better with the add. of one of these guys.

We do not need a washed up RB that no one else has any interest in to push our go to guy this coming season. Gado should be let go as well. Just sick and tired of having below avg RB's on this team. We need another Young stud on this team. If i could have it my way, our RB's would be Green, Peterson/Lynch, Taylor, and maybe Lundy.
