Plummer announces retirement (now what)

So with the missing banner, what does this mean if anything.

I already put a link on another thread.

"I wanted to come in and tell you guys on camera and face-to-face that the speculation can stop tonight," Plummer said from the Denver Athletic Club. "You can know by the looking in my face and hearing my words that I am retiring from the NFL. At 32 years old, I'm running away from the game. Not in fear or fright, but health-wise. I'm healthy. I'm happy. I have a lot to look forward to in my life."

When is the last time you saw a professional athlete retire because they didn't get their way, only to unretire?EVERYTIME.

I'm just believing what the man said. Now, you know he's lying because...?

Because the preponderance of evidence these days points to the fact that when a guy retires in any sport and he is still young enough to play AND he didn't get what he wanted when he retired..a trade, more money, a championship, etc, etc...he will come back under the guise of "a perfect situation" or "love of the game." I'm not saying I want him here. I'm just thinking he is peeved.

Carr's next:elmo:

I can see Carr retiring. He won't be a starter for his next team and that team certainly is not going to be so forgiving of all his short-comings on the field.
The days of him being coddled are over.

He's made out like a bandit money-wise here, so why put yourself through more humiliation with subpar performance. Just invest it wisely, call it a day and live off the interest.
Then find something you're good at and enjoy life.

I am going to go with Barry Sanders with Plummer. And Sanders was universally loved.

I hope no one ever takes that clown serious again. Jake the fake.

What are you jealous of jake for some reason? He does have one of the highest winning percentage next to the greats such as peyton, brady, and rothsberger (sp?). I would rather have Jake Plummer in than David Carr anytime of the week. I read the whole thing and smell some crap because it doesn't seem he wants to retire. He left the podium without answering questions. That too me sounds like he doesn't want to retire in my book.:wheel:

Let's not put Plummer in the catagory with the 3 QB's you mentioned. They all have SB rings and are not quiters.

Can you imagine David Carr being a "color commentator" for CBS or Fox? His HEB commericials stunk.

i thought he was really going to try to pull a junior seau and sign with us. but he seems pretty serious about the retirement. THANK GOD.

I hope we keep Carr or get someone who is a deff. starter. i don't wanna see another season just flushed down the season or tell another person oh yeah its just another season for rebuilding. And love the picture koolaid, you get points for that one.

So true. I've noticed his vocabulary seems to be very limited, a few dozen words. At least that was my impression from his post-game interviews through the years. Not well-spoken at all.
Now I'm starting to think that he has some sort of special-needs issues that need attention.
That would also account for his slow ability to learn on the field.

I have a feeling that Plummer will indeed be playing next year for either the Raiders or Texans.

Thank goodness he's retiring. The thought of getting an old mediocre QB instead of keeping a young mediocre QB was not appealing.

My money says Plummer will be on the field again at some time in the future.

I've never seen (or heard) Carr on TV or radio. I watch VERY little TV. I'm a trucker out of west TX. Just got Sirius radio.....AWESOME by the way.

Anybody have a link to Carr talking on video?

Curious on the Sirius thingie, how much did you pay for the reciever, and how much is it a month ?

Yep. Jake will have a very short retirement.
He'll be playing somewhere in the NFL next year.

Reciever~$50
and about $12 a month

is that a portable reciever or is it stuck in the car. I'm going on a roadtrip in the US later this year and thought about getting one. I'm sooo tierd of regular commercial radio :)

I didn't. :dance3: My stepson set me up for my birthday. You can get the radios for as little as $30 and sometimes less. I think they have one now for $20. I have one of the $100 units which also came with an installation kit.

My stepson also paid me up for the first 3 months. I think it's $12 a month. Man I love it. I pretty much keep it on the NFL station non-stop. No more having to listen to the jerks on ESPN talk about stuff I have NO interest in.

Unfortunately I still don't hear a whole lot of Texans talk. But I have learned a LOT about football and the business of football. If you're an NFL fanatic like me, and tired of the crap that's on "regular" radio, then it's the best.

As a bonus, if you're a subscriber, you can listen online off the web. Which is what I'm doing as I type this.

Call in Texans fans!!!!

I'm telling you go get hooked up NOW!!!!!!!!!!

I've seen at Radio shack, $30 units with the installation kit. On the Sirius site they show one for $20. May be new and not out yet. Go try truck stops too. You have to kind of shop around. Some truck stops are complete rip-offs.

I kick myself for not getting it earlier before this last season. I can't wait for the draft which will be on the NFL station.

I'm a trucker and I can't imagine life without it now. Almost every trucker I meet now has SAT. radio. If you're doing a roadtrip, get it.

Yet there was still doubt whether he'd follow through with retirement. Maybe it was leverage to get traded to the Houston Texans so he could be reunited with former offensive coordinator Gary Kubiak?

Plummer doused the speculation.

"You don't have to chase me around anymore," he said. "There will not be a jersey that has an NFL patch right here (pointing to his chest). If (Broncos third-string QB) Preston Parsons gets in somehow, maybe I'll have his jersey on."

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking about getting it. I'm not a trucker, though. :)

I've thought about it too, but just the thought of the receiver messing up the aesthetics of my dash has me waiting.
If it were integrated to a new head unit, I'd be more inclined to get it.
Saw a pioneer 7" double din that fit the bill but it cost over $2k.
