HPF:Rick Smiths BPA draft

Texans general manager Rick Smith is a young man. If he displays exceptional skill at his new job, he might be conducting NFL drafts for the next 30 years, well into the next generation of Bush or Clinton administrations.

He won't have an easier draft that the one coming up next month. To put it bluntly, he needs everything.

As Dr. Ron might say, write this down. There is no position on the Houston Texans that could not use an upgrade. If you blinked, I'll repeat: There is no position on the Houston Texans that could not use an upgrade.

That's quite a statement for a team that finished with a two-game winning streak, including the defeat of the eventual Super Bowl Champion Colts. But, it's true.

thats a little simplified don't you think  I doubt the Texans "upgrade" Mario Williams or Andre Johnson :joker:

the sky is falling, the sky is falling :tinfoil:

i think he just means the general positions. WR could use an upgrade, DE could use an upgrade, etc.

haha sad but true. The only position we don't need an upgrade at currently is long snapper. Maybe "facility manager" bc thats all i ever hear FAs talking about after coming here

he says if another MLB was available, do you think they would move ryans to Weakside LB?

The Bryan Pittman fan club thanks you.

I'm all for holding our water on the RB. Got my vote. All I really want is we're in second and long I'm going to know we don't have to pass the ball to get to third and short. And on third and long, we take a seven step drop, we gotta chance to get the thing off. One of these years.

better yet who is good enough in the draft that might be better than Ryans if we picked them in 2nd round or so?

Everytime I post that I get killed for moving the golden child. David Harris should be there. If they don't like a true 4-3 end, the only question I have is why not. 4.53 from a big school program, been very productive, is prety impressive to me. If one of the corners they like isn't there nor the ZBS center or OLT...Why the heck not ?

thanks, because i haven't heard of anyone standing out(granted I am out of the loop on college football prospects)

with some teams having multiple TE's now that can catch, would Demeco be fast enough to keep up with them and cover them?

The only negitive I see is he had an extremly tallented DT in front of him. I would love for them to experiment with Meco at the will. If Harris bust out at MLB...should make and upgrade at Sam for sure. 4.53 speed the only thing you have to worry about him covering tight ends is the hips. I see no down side with the David Harris pick. But as I posted, every time I've brought that up this winter I get killed in here.

and quite frankly i still dont like it. Why move the guy that we already KNOW can play MLB in the pros? Experiment with Harris at Weak or Sam but not the guy that's already proven he can play the spot.

all of our positions in general need an upgrade. i'd agree with that statement easy.
