Texans resign Chad Stanley

Texans Pride

Veteran
Via the NFL channel ticker, the Houston Texans have resigned punter Chad Stanley.

Sorry if already posted, looked but did not see it.

The Texans should have called me before resigning him. I can kick it further and I come cheaper, hell, I'd even fly coach.

C'mon Cameron Muro!!

man that sucks. i really thought Stanley was leaving after a dismal season. i mean this post is longer than one of his punts!

well i couldn't see how they could give him a long-term contract so i'm guessing it's a 1 year deal...cameron muro could be a better option for us if he has a successful NFLE campaign...other-wise the kid from baylor would be my pick to take over the punting detail for this team

Don't like this signing. Lets just hope that if he kicks like he did last year they will release him, because you can't do much worse than he did last season.

Wow he was statistically in the bottom 10% of the league last year. He was horrible. Average distance under 40? Ouch

He's training camp leg. He's only here for a few months. He has been trying to get cut for the past two years to help out the crisis in the Uka Galaxy, but the FO didn't buy his act. He revealed his secret and agreed to stay for only a few months to tutor Muro.

Let me correct my statements:

Stanley ranked 29/30 on nfl.com with a net average of 41.6 yards. This was a career high for him

He ranked 3rd from last with 15 inside the opponents 20.

This is terrible.

And yes, my post brings nothing to the table, but neither does Chad Stanley.

Guys,
seriously if the Taxans wanted a truly great kicker this year, they would call my wife...the boys are still aching...:crying:

We can probably bring in a UDFA that will beat out Chad, just saying.

I can't remember how many college games I watched last year, saying to myself......

"wow that college kid is better than the pro we have."
"Damn theres another punter better than the one we have"
"God, why is Chad on this team, he wouldn't even be a starter in that program"

and so on and so on, This should be a position thats easily upgradeable

Oh my goodness.................
This team is run on the Good ole boy system, I like CS but he played way worse than Carr last season, some of his punts in critical situations were 20 yarders.

I thought for sure he was gone.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

PS: Note that my "o's" in "NO" traveled longer than a Chad Stanley punt.

Good one...first laugh of the day thanks to you. Sadly though, it won't be any fun to watch this guy punt again this year.

You know it is bad when you hold your breathe on a punt.

I honestly don't know what they are thinking but hope they draft a punter in the 6th rd.

That's what I was thinking, Daniel Sepulveda, 6-3, 225, Baylor (XKa) , late day two. Got a soft spot for the big twelve guys, but he seamed highly ranked by everyone. Stanley was just aweful last year. Maybe it's just a function the Kubes is more comfortable with the devil he knows rather than the one he doesn't know ? I dunno...ho hum to me.

I've seen games where Chad was the only thing going for us. And I saw us pin some teams back last year. Length isn't always the best factor, it is technique. (Ask a woman to clarify for you.)
One bad year for Chad and you want to compare him to David Carr who has had four bad years? You guys are impossible.
You want a tem full of rookies in key areas from what I'm seeing on here. (Runningback, QB, punter, offensive line, etc...) Luckily the organization doesn't listen to you or we'd be picking first EVERY YEAR.
I'll trust Kubiak's decision over yours. Glad to have you back Chad. If winning a game comes down to a PUNT then you have special teams, defense AND offense that is doing a crappy job. (Did I really just have to explain that?)

I agree up to a point. I recall many times last year when our punter pinned teams deep; however, this occured when we were punting from basically mid-field. When we were pinned and couldn't get out of our own end zone, and needed Stanley to step up and boot one, he'd kick it 40 yards or shank it. Opposing offenses started too many drives near the 50. Just my :twocents: ...

Could my day get any worse:brickwall :.....wait don't answer that we still have a few players to resign I mean re-sign.

Chad still a Texan!

Here's why:

Chad has been a model player, all-round good guy off the field.
Chad goes to the "right" church!
Chad says the "right" things!
He also takes a nice picture. Bonus points there!
Sure there are better punters in the league that are available but character off the field counts most at Reliant on a Sunday!
And some wonder if Chad's leg has honestly been given the proper opportunity to show what it's capable of doing.

If I understand correctly he is great at keeping it out of the end zone. I just think we are giving up way to many yards on our punts. He just doesn't seem to have the leg.

Maybe I don't go to the "right" church, because I pray that you don't turn this into a DC thread!!! :wild: :wild:

AND I KNOW YOU ARE HINTING AT DC!!!!!!!!

Aww shucks, nothing gets by you.

Let's just hope we see less of Stanley on the field regardless of who's playing at QB.
