Antonio Bryant

humph.

I don't know.

Never started 16 games in any season. Only one thousand yard season. Career high 6 TD's back in 02.

Caught 40 balls for 700 yards and 4 TD last year.

Decent #2 stats.

I wouldn't throw a bucket of money at this guy.

you know what at this point in the game they will bring in a lot of second tier guys to evaluate...kubiak isn't going ot ok the signing of a player he can't coach

Cons: Not often do the terms "26-year old" and "journeyman" fit in the same sentence. Mouth rarely matches production.

Pros: Added value in that he likes to work with laundry. Only has to be paid for 14 weeks, since he's suspended for the first two.

Recommendation: Pass. The guy likes to show his rear too much.

I wonder if he's scheduled to visit. I'd take a chance on him. I don't think anyone will be giving him a huge contract. Put a ton of incentives in there and let him earn his money.

the draft is full of excellent young talented WR's I'd like to get one with a 3rd/4th rd. pick ala Owen Daniels last year :drunk:

I really like Stallworth but I wouldn't be upset with Bryant if he were to sign a deal similar to the one Lelie just signed.

I would be surprised to see this guy here more due to the Texans' normally shying away guys with his history.

In terms, of on the field, he would serve as a better number 2 WR than number 1, even though he does not think so. Potentailly, the best 2nd option the Texans have had in its short history.

I would rather save a draft pick and get Antonio, than take a WR late in the draft and expect them to have the same impact.

The problem with Antonio Bryant is that he is two kinds of crazy. He's crazy good and then he's also crazy. Regardless, it would be a good pickup. Houston has a high character coach and team. The environment could help Bryant flourish. You never know, and it's doubtful he could resurrect some character, but combined with AJ, he could be lethal.

Go Texans!
He plays with tenacity, though.

Eric Moulds was like an old gentleman out there: "Oh, pardon me....excuse me, can I get open please?"

I don't like his attitude, either, but I'd take him over Lelie....and like another poster said: It frees us up to not spend a draft pick on a WR so that we can use the pick on something else.

Let him and Walter battle out for the No. 2 spot. Worse case scenario is we de-activate him for attitiude problems and then trade him. There are ways around his attitude.

Better than Lelie, better than a rookie. We cut Moulds, so let's do it.

Wouldn't you be upset if you never got the ball and you always had single coverage? not to mention, you were an all pro wideout. i would.

I hope we don't pick Bryant. The Texans have been good about keeping the guys with attitude problems out of the locker room - I hope we continue to do that.

Anybody know what's going on with Donte Stallworth? His price has taken a major downstep after the injury problems of last year but he's a grade A receiver when he's fit. And not an @$$****, to boot.

I would look at the 04 game against The Browns and take a look at how good Bryant played. I think he can help out our team alot. Bryant stretches the field and right now that is the kind of player we need for Andre Johnson and for a better run game.

If Carr is your QB, you do not take Bryant. Bryant is the type of personality that would murder an already fragile QB's ego.

If we sign him for 1 or 2 years, I wouldn't mind. This guy has the attitude of TO minus the level of talent and the national media reporting every little detail so we need to get him short term if we do.

I don't know about him. I live here in Cowboy Country and have seen him quite a bit. While I couldn't quote you any stats on him, I was very unimpressed with him during his tenure here. Granted, that was more in a #1 role, so he might have more success here as a #2.

It seems to me though that the Texans are going to do something big (or at least big to us) with a WR after cutting Moulds, maybe draft CJ (that is, if they trade up of course)?

The only question I have is that of whether or not Bryant is a speed/vertical receiver. I can't recall, but that seems like what our FO is looking for opposite AJ.

I keep hearing this argument and I don't like it. While I'll agree that character is important I wouldn't use the Texans as an example. All we've shown is that we can pick the type of guys that make a really bad football team. I think it's important to have good character in the leaders of your team, after that...you have to expect the character of the stars to keep the role players in line. We have plenty of "good guys", now it's time to get some playmakers.

On that note Pacman Jones may become availalbe soon................

...and I would jump all over Pacman. Imagine if we added Pacman and Landry to secondary. If Mario stepped up and plays like we expect all of a sudden we be a scary defense. Mario, Dunta, DeMeco, Landry, Pacman...
That is assuming he keeps himself out of the big house.

With the way he's going, i'd say that the percentages are not with him.

I'd pass on Bryant - to much mouth & money - not enough production.

But looking at Wr - what about going after a guy like Stallworth? - Decent #2 - good production for the most part of his career and could be a good journeyman WR for us if the money is right.

thoughts?

well i the real question is do we want to go into the season with kevin walters as our number 2 guy...can jerome mathis stay healthy and can he be the number 2 guy...if not then are we going to look at drafting a WR high in the draft...i've mentioned this before if the draft section of this board that every interview i read that rick smith has done about the draft there is one name he mentions every time and that's ted ginn jr....are we seriously thinking about taking this kid from ohio state

Stallworth is part of the NFL's substance abuse program, no real word on the number of issues and how many strikes against him, but it tends to make sense why New Orleans traded him and why his inbox isn't that full...
