Crabtree FTW
1. Oakland - Adrian Peterson
Russell seems to be the popular pick but I'm sure as most of you know Al Davis has a thing about drafting QBs, so I don't think he is the pick. Although he may be tempting since he has a big arm that fits Oakland's vertical passing game, and overall he seems like your prototypical Raider player. I also think Calvin Johnson will warrant heavy consideration here but I think the need for a WR lessened with incumbents Moss and Porter declaring that they are staying. Anyway, I think Peterson makes a lot of sense. The Raiders have a below average running game and LaMont Jordan isn't a good starter. Adrian Peterson also just kinda seems like a guy who could really intrigue Al Davis...
2. Detroit - Joe Thomas
Kitna got beat up behind that horrid Detroit O-line and Joe Thomas is a guy who could really help that line out. I think Jamaal Anderson and Gaines Adams are possibilities here as well. A pass rush is essential in Cover 2 defense Detroit runs.
3. Cleveland - Alan Branch
I definitely feel this is a reach but I guess Cleveland gets shafted with the selection of Peterson at #1. Their rush defense finished around the bottom of the league and Branch could step in immediately and maybe help shore-up that defensive line. Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell are possible but with a rookie QB starting, it may ruin any chance Crennel has at a 4th season in Cleveland.
4. Tampa Bay – Calvin Johnson
Well, I don't think Gruden minds having a guy like CJ fall into his lap. Galloway is up there in years and and the Tampa offense is nothing to write home about. Brady Quinn or Russell could be the pick though since Tampa Bay doesn't exactly have the most pretty situation at QB.
5. Arizona - Levi Brown
Brown fills a big need here especially with Leonard Davis testing the market. Maybe a considered a bit of reach, but Brown's stock has risen a lot since the Senior Bowl and I'm not sure if the Cardinals would want to pass on him.
6. Washington - Gaines Adams
If I'm not mistaken Washington amounted the least amount of sacks in the NFL and overall had a rather putrid defense. Gaines Adams could step possibly step in and be an instant upgrade to arguably the worst defensive line in the NFL.
7. Minnesota - Jamaal Anderson
What is a Cover 2 defense without a pass rush? Maybe Quinn or Russell but I think they still like Tarvaris Jackson.
8. Houston – Brady Quinn
I don't think Carr is the answer, nor is Plummer if Houston happens to get him. I think Kubiak would be happy to get a guy like Quinn who could be the franchise QB the Texans are looking for.
9. Miami - Adam Carriker
Carriker is a very good prospect who saw his stock rise significantly after a very impressive Senior Bowl week. Carriker could make a nice fit in Caper's defense and add some youth to an aging defensive line.
Atlanta – LaRon Landry
Atlanta has had some problems with their secondary, and LaRon Landry could make an immediate impact. A 4 year starter in the toughest conference in college football, Landry is as consistent as it gets.
11. San Francisco - Amobi Okoye
Okoye is another one of those guys who saw his stock bump up after the Senior Bowl. He is a young guy with a boatload of potential. The 49ers defense this past season was pretty bad and it comes to no surprise SF plans to draft primarily on that side of the ball this year.
12. Buffalo - Patrick Willis
Patrick Willis is a leader on the field and a great guy off it. Fletcher may very likely leave through free agency and the Bills turn to Willis to fill that spot.
13. St. Louis - Lawrence Timmons
I think here St. Louis would have liked either Amobi Okoye or Adam Carriker, to help prevent teams from running all over them. But they are off the board so the Rams opt for maybe the best 4-3 OLB available in Lawrence Timmons.
14. Carolina - JaMarcus Russell
Maybe the surprise fall of the draft. Frankly, not that many teams need a starting QB so I don't think it is all that unlikely Russell drops this far. Plus, I think his stock might have taken a hit at the combine. Supposedly he seems rather arrogant and overall just might have turned some teams off. I think Carolina chooses Russell though since Delhomme is getting up there in years, and current back-up QB Weinke isn't the answer.
15. Pittsburgh - Arron Sears
This was a pretty tough pick because Pittsburgh doesn't really seem to have to many big needs. But Arron Sears is a very versatile offensive linemen who could maybe play either guard or tackle for the Steelers.
16. Green Bay - Marshawn Lynch
Ahman Green is slated to become a FA, so he might not be back in Green Bay. Bubba Franks is a guy who didn't have a very good year so I think Greg Olsen may be an option.
17. Jacksonville - Reggie Nelson
With FS Deon Grant possibly leaving, the Jaguars may look toward the draft to find his replacement. Reggie Nelson notched 6 interceptions his junior year and can lay the wood...definitely has the potential to be a game-changer at the NFL level.
18. Cincinnati - Ben Grubbs
Cincy chose not to re-sign Steinbach, so a guy like Grubbs could be his successor.
19. Tennessee - Robert Meachem
Overall the Titans may have the worst WR corps in the league, so why not upgrade it and provide Vince Young with some weapons? Plus, Drew Bennett may not be back. Robert Meachem is a guy who played at Tennessee who has a lot to offer as a receiving threat.
20. NY Giants - Darrelle Revis
I think NY would be more than happy to snag a guy like Revis who some say is the best CB in the draft. A big guy who also returned punts at Pittsburgh. Presents a good value and fills a hole.
21. Denver – Leon Hall
Denver maybe will draft a CB since, unfortunately, Darrent Williams passed away. Leon Hall was part of one of the best and most dominant defenses college football had to offer this past season.
22. Dallas – Brandon Meriweather
Maybe this is a reach, but something Dallas is known for is atrocious coverage from the safety positions. They may look at Meriweather to help improve upon that.
23. Kansas City – Sidney Rice
KC has a pretty average group of wide receivers, so Sidney Rice could be the guy. He may make a nice fit into Kansas City's Coryell offense which implements a vertical passing game. Ted Ginn might be the pick, but I'm not sure if Herm Edwards would take him. Cornerback is possible as well, because Patrick Surtain and Ty Law aren't exactly spring chickens.
24. New England – Anthony Spencer
OLBs Banta-Cain and Rosevelt Colvin aren't exactly spectacular, and Anthony Spencer is a guy who could prove to be a an excellent pass rusher in the NFL. Spencer is another one of those guys who raised eyebrows in Mobile during Senior Bowl week. Some opponents of his have also recognized him to be a big challenge to block.
25. NY Jets – Jarvin Moss
The defensive end who played a major role in the success of that National Championship Gator defense could be an OLB/DE guy that Mangini wants in his defense.
26. Philadelphia – Michael Griffin
Brian Dawkins is still a good FS, but he is up there in years. Plus, SS Sean Considine isn't anything special. On top of that Philly might not retain Michael Lewis and he could be out the door soon. Michael Lewis is a nice prospect who some project as both a FS and SS.
27. New Orleans – Paul Posluzny
The Saints lit it up on offense last season so their first pick is probably defense. For the most their D-line ain't too shabby, but they could stand to upgrade their secondary and LBs. Posluzny from Penn State could possibly start right away.
28. New England – Dwayne Bowe
I'd say WR is a definite need here, and they get excellent value with the LSU guy Bowe. A big, strong, WR who is often compared to Terrell Owens. Also, runs solid routes and is quick breaking from his cuts.
29. Baltimore – Michael Bush
The Raven's running game could definitely be improved. Jamal Lewis doesn't look like his old-self and Baltimore could very well cut him. Michael Bush is a big, athletic guy who could replace Jamal Lewis and run over some defenses. They don't have an amazing offensive line either so Just Blalock might be the guy they choose.
30. San Diego – Ted Ginn Jr.
Pretty hard to find a hole on this team, although they don't have great WRs. In addition, I'm not sure how much McCardell has left in the tank so they could go with a guy like Ginn who can stretch the field, but won't be rushed to make a big contribution to the offense. Although, he could make a large impact on special teams immediately.
31. Chicago – Dwayne Jarrett
Dwayne Jarrett I could see slipping for a few reasons. First off this draft class has a lot of depth of at WR and Jarrett has some question marks of his own. I think Chicago may choose Jarrett though since Muhammad is getting older and Dwayne Jarrett fits best into a WCO, which Chicago runs.
32. Indianapolis – Jon Beason
Gary Brackett is scheduled to become a free agent and Jon Beason may make a nice OLB in the Cover 2 defense Indy runs.
Russell seems to be the popular pick but I'm sure as most of you know Al Davis has a thing about drafting QBs, so I don't think he is the pick. Although he may be tempting since he has a big arm that fits Oakland's vertical passing game, and overall he seems like your prototypical Raider player.
