Applewhite Named Offensive Coordinator/QB Coach in Bama

Man, Applewhite is flying up the fast track...

Major Applewhite, a 28-year-old former Texas quarterback, will serve as the Tide's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach. He spent last season running the offense at Rice.
I hope he does well for Alabama's offense. I wonder how he will work with Pendry...

I hope Major does well over the next season or two, so when TAMU stops messin around with Fran, Major will be ready.

I'm not proud, Major will be a very good head coach somewhere. No reason, A&M shouldn't take a look at him.

Not too surprising since Saban missed out on Jimbo Fisher, who chose Florida State. Good for Major and 'Bama, I like it.

I wonder if Major Applewhite would take the head coaching job at A&M. I figure he would because it would be a big opportunity for him, but who knows how deep his school loyalties lie.

Man, way to early to even consider!!!

I honestly saw Gene Chizik (please help me w/ spelling it's 2am!) being the head coach for A&M untill he just accepted his new position in iowa?? only reason franchione will still be in aggieland is cuz of the defeat of TU...whoop! Mac Brown is a great recruiter imo but not a better coach.

Not a big Applewhite fan, but I have nothing against him. I hope the best for him...he sure is moving up fast. I grew up knowing the A&m , UT rivalry but when it comes to a big time job...I don't think it matters. Of course he'd be more inclined for UT but if it's a big time role at ATM why not. Ut isn't going to be top 5 in the nation forever. that and since he went to UT would be the ONLY reason he'd coach there. If ATM ends up having a much better program by the time it's actually a decision for him...it really isn't much of a decision at all.

It should come as no surprise to people that he is moving up the charts. He was a heady type player in college. I bet he stays at Alabama for a couple of years before the NFL comes calling.

Your probably right about the NFL picking up Major.

Maybe Major could become the Bucs OC and coach Chris Simms. Ironic.

Oh, by the way, kind of a politican name. I take it your not a Perry supporter?
You would be right about that. I think Perry stands for everything I am that I am against.

Major will learn @ Bama & maybe a year or two in NFlL but I pick him to be Mack Brown's successor 4-5 years from now or whenever MB is ready to retire. What a match made in Heaven.

Good for Major! Major is actually from Louisiana, so if he has a lot of success with Bama than I could see LSU calling him if they stumble with their current coach. LSU would love to stick it to Saban for leaving them and then jumping back into the SEC.

Didn't The former Rice coach kind of get a little jealous when Major was getting all the credit for their success? I thought I read where he made some comments that Rice was running his offence and not Major Applewhites.
