Drew Stanton at #31?

gtexan02

Working?
Do you think the Bears will pick up Stanton after Gross' performance? Or do you thinkthey'll go after a vet

Stanton will need at least a year on the bench no matter where he goes.

Remember, this guy played college ball under John L. Smith.

I'm reading that his mechanics and talent aren't in question, but his mental toughness leaves alot to be desired.

May not be substantiated, but it'll scare alot of teams away.

I'd have to say I think the bears have more pressing matters than QB.

They could use some depth at DT where you have a I WANT TO OWN MORE GUNS THAN THE U.S. ARMY Johnson. And since it was there run defense that hurt them just as bad as grossman I'd start there first.

Not to mention this was grossman's first full year under center. i'd give him another year to prove himself consistently since this year's qb class is not that good.

i.e. we are talking about stanton being a 1st rounder.

reminds me of carr with his tools and inconsistency. his tools are as good as any, right up there with brady, but his makeup is the big question.

Does Stanton throw sidearm?? trip over his own feet?? & have a problem with the shotgun??

Anyway..... I agree with Texas thrill....... 190 some odd rushing yards given up in the SuperBowl & 430 yards allowed points to a seriously undressed elephant no one wants to talk about.

No they lost the game the very minute both Tommy Harris and Mike Brown went down for the season. Grossman is what he is...a young QB not quite ready for prime time. In the rain , his weak arm was exposed. Smith didn't bite on the urge when the wolves were at his door. I think he sticks with the kid. They got two front line RBs and that is where the bears spend there money. Running backs, o-lineman and defense tallent. When was the last time the bears spent a #1 on the QB ? . Besides Grossman...it's been awhile. Cade McNown 1999. Might draft another DT. They're another team searching for young o-line guys. You can bet on that. John Tait went down with the knee, that was game set and Match. It was over. Looking for a spot for Ugoh...second round they coach him up for a year.

http://www.nfl.com/players/playerpage/418071. also...with Greise and Ortin that would make four QBs with the new guy. Carring three is a burdon these days. Who goes in your Book ?

throwing sidearm isnt a tool numbnuts. its a mechanic. he has good speed and can run around when needed and he has a pretty good arm.

What would the bears have to give up to get Schaub? Isnt it a first and third or something like that??

Right now, Petrino is in the same sort of situation with Vick that Kubiak was in with Carr last year. He thinks he has a guy that can be his QB but he's not sure.

The difference is that Petrino has 2 guys that can be his QB where Kubiak only had 1. And if one of Petrino's guys starts to falter, he can go to the other one. Kubiak didn't have that luxury.

IOW, I don't think the Falcons give up Schaub. Period. If Vick turns out to be the man, then they keep Schaub in case Vick gets hurt. If Vick turns out not to be the man, then they start Schaub and start shopping Vick. And if Schaub turns out to not be the man, then they're looking at picking Brohm next year. :)

Ya i see were your coming from but if the bears are willing to give up there first round draft pick or any other team thats willing to do it. The falcons should accept the deal because next year they lose schaub to free agency and wont get anything for him. Get some draft picks for schaub if ya can especially since he most likely wont even start next year.

You're assuming they're not going to sign Schaub. Now, granted, it is going to be hard for them to sign Schaub to a big deal AND have Vick around, but they might not keep Vick around. And remember that Petrino's supposed to be a genius with coming in and creating offenses based on the personnel available. Vick might not be a pure QB after Petrino gets through with him. Who knows what sort of weird hybrid offense he'll come up with. He might try to use Vick and Schaub at the same time. Or... maybe not.

The thing about draft picks is that drafting is a crap shoot. You really don't know how a player is going to work for you until you get him in and start working with him. If you have a guy you know is good, it's really risky to trade him for someone you don't know. With Schaub, they have a pretty good idea of what they have and I don't think they want to let him go.

I think they're going to sign him if only for insurance.

They're not in an easy spot. With Vick, they're like we are with Carr. It would be nice to deal him but his cap hit is so big that he's hard to move.

I don't think its a very big risk to trade Schaub for a draft pick. This is most likely going to be schaubs last year unless vick is not with the falcons. So trade schaub and get something for him while you can. Its almost pointless for the falcons to keep schaub if there just going to bench him for another year and just let him go to free agency. Get something for him while you can!

And i dont think that other teams are thinking they dont want Carr because hes to big of a cap hit. Hes in his last year of his contract.

Carr still has two more years left on his contract. He got a three year extension last offseason.

i like how every white QB that someone feels isn't that good is compared to carr. "yeah brady quinn reminds me of david carr." "matt schaub? just another david carr." "why draft kevin kolb? he's just like david carr." i know you guys have only had ONE quarterback, but certainly you've seen more than just carr play before.

Actually, Carr is just another word for bust. :doot:

Its easy to give up 400+ yards on the ground when your offense only holds onto the ball for 15 minuttes

Tell me about it.... that's what we saw this year against Philly, Indy, & Washington the first three games of the year.
