Packer Rumor

I've brought up the idea to my friends that are Packers fans and they hate the idea, along with the Bears fans. If we can get a third, I'll take that if we can get Kolb. If it's less than a third, than I would rather just keep Carr.

i think comparing what one can get for one qb one year to another..another year isn't the whole case. If mcnair and carr were to try and be traded the same year...by all means yea mcnair would get more than carr. the extent of needs can change year to year and how desperate teams are for one player. Look at it this way...if we were to try and trade for Plummer last year...denver would want more than they want now and we would want to give them less than we would now. This year may be different...if we get rid of carr or even keep him...i would think we would be more willing to give them a little more than we would have last year...likewise..denver is feeling good with cutler as their starter as far as we know so while they would still want something for plummer they would give him away for less than they would have last year.

I think any trade, and I doubt there will be any, will somehow involve Drew Stanton. There were reports of our scouts talking to Stanton at the Senior Bowl and I think he'd fit our system nicely.

how would we trade stanton or trade for him? wouldn't mind drafting him but trading players immediatly after the draft is almost unheard of.

Trade for a pick in the middle of the 2nd or third to get Stanton or trade Carr for the rights to Stanton. The second part of your post is true because its their rights that get traded, not the player, since he wouldn't have a contract. However, draft-day trades are not rare.

i keep hearing good things about stanton...i think i'll read up more about him. what all was said about his showing at the senior bowl. i know none of the qb's looked outstanding but keep hearing mixed reviews...some say troy smith looked the best but others say he was awful. i like the idea of having somebody learn for a year or two and jump in like phillip rivers did. hopefully this next guy won't be a 1st rounder that sits that long though.

It's hard to judge any of the QBs in the Senior Bowl considering the field conditions, but Troy Smith had an amazing TD pass, where it was thrown, as they say, on a rope. He couldn't have made a better pass.

you just have to roll the dvr a few times to catch everything, how they adjusted, pass protection, did they have a ground game, when the rain was light or heavy etc, etc, bottom line all the North side QB's showed something or another most likely because they had much better protection (Levi Brown was a brick wall that moved). observations: Troy Smith has an absoulte gun for an arm & can throw while on the run, Drew Stanton showed poise in the pocket & read his progressions & Tyler Palko, a lefty reminded me of a young Montana. yeah thats right I said a young Montana, he looks like a winner, very elusive heady & smart seemingly always knows where to go with the football. trade is just internet fodder :secret:

Texans did talk to Stanton and Troy Smith at the Senior bowl as per NFL Draft countdown. Stanton does have the physical tool, mobility, and competitive fire but the issue with him is in regards to consistency, doesn't handle the pressure very well, and has too many mental lapses and forces the ball unnecessarily.

After reading his scouting reports, he reminds me of Carr. The same negativity is also associated with David Carr.

I like Drew Tate more the Drew Stanton and we can him in the 6th or 7th round. Drew Tate has proven to be a great leader but size is a concern.

I'm not a big fan of any of the QBs in this year's draft. I wouldn't be surprised if the Texans didn't draft one at all and just went with Sage and/or Jake Plummer for the next few years until they do draft one. Who knows, maybe Sage is our future and we just don't know it.

LOL. i get your point...to both degrees.

2006: plummer = denver's starter. they would require for these purposes....totally made up...a 2nd rder for him in a trade? we passed up leinart young and cutler and resigned carr...we would give them say a 7th rder for plummer?

2007: plummer=had been benched for rookie cutler...they will most likely cut him or try and trade him...they will want much lower than a 2nd...say a 6th>? houston on the other hand is more likely to take him this year than last..either through FA or give denver say a 5/6th?

might be a bad example but one year mcnair might be worth a 1st or 2nd rder due to teams needs and the demand for a veteran qb....the next year there might not be high demand...and he would warrant a 4th rder.

still probably very confusing...not good to drink beer, bloody marys, and margaritas while rooting for the colts! lol. Its all about supply and demand. football is no different.
