This is my rating's for all the Texans first round picks, plz feel free to make changes or comments:

2002 NFL Draft David Carr

Had the Texans dealt with their offensive line woes, I believe David Carr would have been a Pro-Bowl quarterback by now. Some people want to get rid of him, but seriously, this guy is a fighter and he’s taken beatings and hard hits unlike any other quarterback in the NFL.

Ali4Real’s Rating: 8.5 out of 10

2003 NFL Draft Andre Johnson

A two time Pro-Bowl player and one of the best offensive wide outs in the AFC and a strong capable receiver, I think the Texans made a smart move by picking him up.

Ali4Real’s Rating: 9 out of 10

2004 NFL Draft Dunta Robinson And Jason Babin

Dunta Robinson had a tremendous Rookie season finishing with 6 interceptions, 3 sacks, and 13 pass deflections but since his debut his stats have dropped. Jason Babin has played well, but not as good as a first-round player should be. Now, since he is a DE again his stats and contributions to the defense should go up.

Ali4Real’s Rating: Dunta Robinson 7.5 out of 10

Jason Babin 8 out of 10

2005 NFL Draft Travis Johnson

I felt that the Texans should have tried to get Derrick Johnson (Linebacker from Texas) but he was taken and Jammal Brown would have been a good pick but was taken. Travis Johnson was great in college but injuries had sidelined him. I was expecting more from him.

Ali4Real’s Rating: 3.5 out of 10

2006 NFL Draft: Mario Williams

I wanted to see D’Bricksaw Ferguson get picked but Mario Williams is a big DE who is fast and extremely strong. He gets doubled team and still keeps on fighting which leaves other players open. I expect him to have a great season next year considering he was playing with a foot injury.

:wow:

I agree for the most part, but I would make a few changes.

2002 NFL Draft David Carr

I didn't really like the pick at the time, but I tried to rally behind him once he was on the team. He actually surprised me a little his 1st yr and showed that he had potential even w/ all of the sacks...IMO. The thing that makes this a bad pick in hindsight is that he has shown little to NO improvement in a 5-yr span.

AustinJB's Rating: 5 out of 10

2003 NFL Draft Andre Johnson

Great WR and we definitely needed him when he was picked. A two-time Pro-Bowl player and one of the few players on our team that could start for any team....great pick.

AustinJB's Rating: 9.5 out of 10

2004 NFL Draft Dunta Robinson

D-Rob is a solid CB w/ potential to be much better. IMO, he could still improve drastically if paired w/ veteran leadership. Could get better in pass coverage (and probably would if he had confidence in his Safeties), but he is an excellent tackler and has shown flashes of being a real playmaker for the defense.

AustinJB's Rating: Dunta Robinson 8.0 out of 10

2004 NFL Draft (Con't) Jason Babin

I had serious doubts about this pick when it happened and now you can definitely see that it was a stupid pick, IMO. The performance that we've gotten from him combined w/ his weaknesses (not good against the run) makes for a bad decision to give up as many draft picks as we did. If we had taken him in the 3rd or 4th, then I would say it was decent value.

AustinJB's: Jason Babin 5 out of 10

2005 NFL Draft Travis Johnson

Very foolish. I didn't have "doubts" about this pick; I was absolutely pissed!! First, we pass on Derrick Johnson AND Jamaal Brown by trading down and THEN we take a mediocre talent. Wow...still gets me a little angry!

Ali4Real?s Rating: 3 out of 10

2006 NFL Draft Mario Williams

I preferred VY, but was okay w/ Mario. I still think he will be a great player and a force to be reckoned with. After battling injuries AND adjusting to the NFL, he was still a decent DE. Too early to really give a rating, but if I had to at this point.....

AustinJB's Rating: 7.5 out of 10

Texas Thrill's take on the the franchise's 1st

2002 NFL Draft David Carr

I never liked this pick. Not b/c of David Carr but b/c of the uncertainty with Bosselli's injury and inability to resign Ryan Young. Julius Peppers was the better player but obviously with your first pick I guess the franchise wanted to be "sexy". He's been a fighter but I still have yet to feel like he has IT but could be a Trent Dilfer if we get a outstanding running game and lights out Defense. I think he can manage a game and make some key throws when needed.

TT's Rating: 5 out of 10

2003 NFL Draft Andre Johnson

By far and away our best pick. Has THE U pedigree and goes out and makes plays. Because he is a WR he's dependent on the QB to get him the ball and the Line to block so the QB to get him the ball. Needless to say his numbers could be amazingly better if the line is half decent. He's in the elite of WR's.

TT's Rating: 10 out of 10

2004 NFL Draft Dunta Robinson

Oh the year of Sean Taylor. That was my pick that year however I was very excited about the possibility of a shutdown corner. To me his play his first year was of optimism. Lately he's played pessimistic in a sense of the team just does not seem to be getting better and instead of raising his play he's playing down to the team. Not what I want out of a leader but he's young and could have used someone like Glenn to stay around. I still think with time he becomes that shutdown that he appeared to be.

TT's Rating: Dunta Robinson 7.0 out of 10

2004 NFL Draft (Con't) Jason Babin

The WORST yes the WORST in my opinion of the 1st round picks we've ever taken on. He would have clearly been there in the 2nd maybe even 3rd round that year. CC's most bonehead move. He's weak against the run and really too light in the pants to play DE other than situational pass rush in the 4-3 now. I guess he provides depth and rotation but imo he's not even that much of a speed rusher.

TT's: Jason Babin 1 out of 10

2005 NFL Draft Travis Johnson

If Babin was our WORST pick....TJ is trying to chase him down with a close second. Our reason for NOT taking Derrick Johnson was b/c he played in the 4-3 in college....so we take a 4-3 DT? I forget he's even on the team most of the time.

TT's Rating: 2 out of 10

2006 NFL Draft Mario Williams

I preferred VY but was very ok with Mario given the fact we gave up TWO 200 yard rushing games the previous year. Though not the best player in our 2006 draft class (DeMeco by far) I think he's helped put together a solid foundation. I'm anxious to see him play next year w/o the injured toe.

TT's Rating: Will not rate a player with only a rookie year.

Lost me when you gave Babin a higher ranking than Dunta.:drunk:

Don't know how anyone can rank a reserve high than a starter.

2002- David Carr- 4/10 (looked great in game one; it's been uphill from there)

2003- Andre Johnson- 9.75/10 (too many drops is what keeps him out of a perfect 10)

2004- Dunta Robinson- 7.5/10 (better cover corner than some might think; he just hasn't had a decent opposite corner since Glenn)

2005- Travis Johnson- 2/10 (had not been impressed with him since day one)

2005- Jason Babin- 5/10 (maybe he can improve)

2006- Mario Williams- 8/10 (Plantar Fasciitis can be a [you know what] ;it really slowed him down)

I also ranked Babin higher than Daunta. I don't understand everyone's man crush on Daunta, but he needs to be held responsible for his piss-poor play the past few years. He proved he is a legit #2 CB, and has gone on to prove that he was not worth his #10 overall pick and is not a legit #1 NFL CB. I like his leadership and vocal charge, but he hasn't lived up to his draft spot. Everyone seems to have a man-crush on him only citing his first year in the league when he had a legit #1 CB at the time on his other side.

In a poll of WRs, Dunta is always top 10 corner, and using a moneyball-esque manipulation of stats, Dunta is a top 5 corner. I don't think the talent around him allows him to live up to his potential, and I think he knows that, which leads to him underperforming at times.

Will I be upset if David is starting for the Texans in '07?? Not really.... If he plays like he did in '06....... oh yeah, I'll be upset.

I agreed that we should get a QB with that first pick. He was being touted as a franchise QB..... I wanted Harrington, but after that first year..... I was quite pleased with our little gunslinger.

His first two years, I definitely believe he had shown flashes of greatness.

Dunta has had one good season.....

ThunderKyss Score: 7

Jason Babin: 7 But I love the guy.. I think our defensive coaches aren't doing a good job with our young defensive ends. Watching, I get the feeling one is being told to get the QB, and the other is told to stop the run, when they should both be taught to recognize the play, and understand down & distances, formations & tendancies.

2005 NFL Draft Travis Johnson

IMHO, TJ is a 3-4 Nose Tackle..... not a DE....... his size & build that is. in the 4-3, his play is a little inconsistent, but I feel that he is a locker room leader, and I like the emotion he shows on the field.

Thunderkyss Score: 7

Mario is a bad mamma-jamma...... I don't think he's going to be that sack specialist that we all want him to be.... but he can be a dominating game changing DE. IN college, he wasn't a sack specialist. He was a run stopper, and a backfield hellraiser. We need to let him play his game, and the sacks will come. the Tackles for losses will come. the forced fumbles will come. Like I said, he won't ever lead the league in sacks, but he'll be avg'ing double digit sacks for a long time.

Thunderkyss Score: 10.
