the new plan

some people have been raising the question on peterson and advocating for levi brown. here's my plan if we do intend to take brown.

trade down to the middle range. green bay would give their left nut if peterson is there at 8. say we do play the draft points game and can only squeeze an extra 3rd rounder out of them.

1-levi brown OT
2-chris houston CB
3-brandon jackson RB
3-michael johnson FS
4-desmond bishop SLB
5-clifton ryan DT

brown's only question is if he projects to LT or RT. that's the only reason im hesitant on him. houston is a pure cover guy and the best available CB. jackson is in my other thread and could be a real find in the 3rd round. johnson is a solid guy with good instincts. a good value pick. desmond bishop is a good run stopper with good instincts. move him to SLB so he doesnt have to worry about dropping into coverage so much. clifton ryan is a solid guy who wont wow you with anything, but he did do well in the east-west game and we need depth along the line. if kareem brown is there in the 4th though, i would rather have him than bishop. dedrick harrington is my other sleeper pick at LB. should be there in the 5th.

I like the way you think as far as getting needs (o-line) while getting extra picks in later rounds.

Lets see what Brown does at the combine now.

I'll have to check the value chart,...but my HO, you'll get more than that in a trade down...say a three and a nice high pick in '08...say thier second. This is what I'm passing up All Day for. Extra picks this year and the pick in the '08 draft. Extra picks in our pocket for '08 are going to be like gold a year from now. As Kats says you take a franchices back no matter what. But under this teams circumstances, i don't readily agree. We need help all over the feild. The only way to get that help is to give up something this year. Deal something of value for value. I'm thinking super bowl in '09 not who is the best RB on the board this season. Put ourselves in an envious position in '08. All Day is not going to turn this thing of ours around by himslef. Address the o-line and defensive tallent this year. We can go shoping for a QB or RB , second round ZBS center, next year. The '08 draft should be looooooaded.
We want have to go shoping for a tackle if we get Levi this year. Hopefully, Spencer will be 100% by '08 and the staff will have some very interesting chioces between the three, Spencer Brown & Eric.

after watching some senior bowl footage, im actually quite impressed with brown. he could use a little refinement, but i like his tools. good pass protector, not sure how he will fit in the zbs though.

as far as getting extra picks in 08, thats only if peterson is there. peterson himself has more value than the actual pick at 8. if its just the 8th pick, we'll only get a 3rd. if its peterson, we can ask for alot more. his value is that of a top 4 pick in any other draft year where the top picks have a need for a RB.

I agree with that. And again if the pick is All day, I'll exept that. But, we've waited an awefull long time to fix OLT. I can wait another year. But one year they gostta fix it. I can stand it as long as y'all can.

after watching even more footage, im less impressed with brown. he's better against the bull rush than the speed rush. he does have quick feet, he just needs to learn how to use them better.
