My 1st Mock Draft

Imatexanfan

Hall of Fame
1. Oakland Raiders - WR Calvin Johnson, Georgia Tech
Al Davis wants to take the best available athlete, with a 45 inch vertical leap, to me imean IMO Johnson fits that bill clearly.

2. Detroit Lions - OT Joe Thomas, Wisconsin
Whoever the Lions QB of the future may be, the program needs a premium left tackle.

3. Cleveland Browns - QB Brady Quinn, Notre Dame
Local boy makes good(except for like the Texans taking VY last year), Quinn to the Browns would make the Dawg Pound go woof.

4. Tampa Bay Bucs - QB Jamarcus Russell, L.S.U.
Gruden needs to find a quarterback to run his offense and provide that missing spark in the huddle. Unless he's satisfied with Gradkowski, Russell will fall.

5. Arizona Cards- DE Jamaal Anderson, Arkansas
The Cards pass rush needs to get better waaay better, Anderson is an elite rusher.

6. Washington 'Skins - DE Gaines Adams, Clemson
The Redskins cash in on their other first round pick with another elite rusher in Adams.

7. Minnesota Vikings - DB Laron Landry Louisiana State
They really need to trade down for WR perhaps, but if not their safety situation looks bleak.

8. Houston Texans - RB Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma
We, the Texans will get another chance to draft a franchise back, will we take it or another DE by chance? :drunk:

9. Miami Dolphins - QB Colt Brennan, Hawaii
Brennan may opt out of draft, at which point I will opt him out of my mock draft.

10. Atlanta Falcons - DB Reggie Nelson, Florida
The weakness of the Falcons defense is the deep middle, Nelson has the range to ballhawk. Adding Abraham is just peice to the puzzle, but what about the rest.

11. San Fran 49ers - DE Charles Johnson, Georgia
As the 49ers continue to build their defense, players like Johnson can help them take the next step.

12. Buffalo Bills - CB Darrelle Revis, Pittsburgh
The Bills will need protection if Nate Clements leaves as a free agent, (to the Texans that is).

13. St. Louis Rams - DT Alan Branch, Michigan
The Rams, thankfully, can end the Jimmy Kennedy experiment with the addition of Branch.

14. Carolina Panthers - WR Ted Ginn Jr., Ohio State
Explosive player can give opposing defenses more to worry about then Steve Smith.

15. Pittsburgh Steelers - OT Levi Brown, Penn State
Former Redskins great Russ Grimm gets an elite OT for his offense.

16. Green Bay - RB Marshawn Lynch, California
Green is a great player but has had nine hard years in the league and his production has declined.

17. Jacksonville Jags - LB Lawrence Timmons, Florida St.
A nasty defense keeps getting nastier as Timmons upgrades the outside linebacking spot. Just maybe they could be competition for us next season, yea right.

18. Cincinatti Bengals - DT Amobi Okoye, Louisville
Hard working Okoye projects as a poor man's Sam Adams, once he fills out his 19 year old frame.

19. Tennessee Titans - WR Dwayne Bowe, Louisiana St.
Pro-ready Bowe will provide Young with options should Drew Bennett test the waters of free agency.

20. N.Y. Giants - LB Paul Posluszny, Penn State
The Giants ned players who can look into the huddle and hold people accountable when things aren't going right.

21. Denver Broncos - CB Chris Houston, Arkansas
Broncos need a physical bump and run cornerback, Houston could leap into the first round with a fast time.

22. Dallas Cowboys - DE Quentin Moses, Georgia
The Boys could take Moses and stand him up at linebacker. Still elite lateral quickness, despite senior campaign.

23. Kansas City Chiefs - OT Justin Blalock, Texas
The Chiefs are desperate for OT help and aren't going to get it in free agency.

24. New England Patriots (VIA Sea) - CB Leon Hall, Michigan
Leon Hall is a Ty Law clone and replaces Asante Samuel who will likely find a big pay day elsewhere.

25. N.Y. Jets - DE Adam Carriker, Nebraska
Workouts could push Carriker higher but there aren't that many 3-4 teams who need to upgrade DE.

26. Philadelphia Eagles - LB Patrick Willis, Mississippi
Trotter is a honorable warrior but will not be around forever. Willis could be tabbed as heir to the Eagles MLB position.

27. Baltimore Ravens - LB Lamarr Woodley, Michigan
Similar to FA DE Adalius Thomas, Woodley is a versatile player who flat out makes plays.

28. San Diego Chargers - WR Dwayne Jarrett, Southern Cal
The playoff game will probably leave the Chargers seriously considering upgrade for the WR position.

29. New Orleans Saints - TE Zach Miller, Arizona State
:shades: Former TE for us Miller has the shades of Todd Heap and makes a scary Saints offense even scarier.

30. New England Patriots - RB Brian Leonard, Rutgers
Leonard replaces Dillon as short yardage back, can also play Heath Evans' H-Back role.

31. Indianapolis Colts - DT Justin Harrell, Tennessee
Prior to injury was the toughest and best of the senior DT prospects. Watch for a rebound.

32. Chicago Bears - WR Jeff Samardzija, Notre Dame
Best case for the Shark, could he pursue a two sport dream in Chi town?!

**Oh and yes guys I have the Bears winning the Super Bowl and Manning crying on the sideline.**:marionaner:

Mr. Mork eat your heart out.:)

Not sure how I fee about that, but I keep hearing people say we'll probably get AP. Is AP really going to be available at #8 (I mean likely to be), or do a lot of people just want him?

Smardjzahaxexh is playing baseball, therefore wont be in the nfl draft.

Brennan is going back to play at hawaii so he wont be in the draft either.

other than that not terribly bad. I definitly see oakland taking CJ but so many people have jumped on russell. he could easily be it but i really see them taking cj and getting their qb another route...2nd round or FA most likely.

what is carolinas situation that they would take wr over defense? keyshawn and steve smith...is keyshawn a fa or what. or do you just have ginn as bpa. i see them picking up a lb or db.

Yep this effort clearly has an agenda. Colt Brennan did apply, but he recinded. He seemed to get tired after twenty-seven and got sloppy.
Ah, that's what's missing. Where are you Landry/Nelson guys ? You guys are slipping. Course under this scenario, the only sure choice in the authors mind is AP. Other options: Branch, the safteis, move down and make a play for the Safties or Levi Brown. Haven't seen too many mocks with Alan Branch out of the top seven and both top safties still on the board after round one.

I think JT is going to DET right now. They have shown ZERO interst in Quinn so far, and it could just be a smokescreen, but they have taken JT out to dinner and done a few interviews with him already. Matt Millan said they need every position EXCEPT a QB.

I'm starting to see that also. Joe Thomas going at the two. Maybe they just don't like the guy. Or as you say they are working us(someone) for a "deal ".

i hope they do draft him so the texans want be foolish enough to draft him that will be a big mistake like the raiders made when they too robert gallery a couple years ago.....hollar

I think Brady Quinn is the one guy who will fall out of the top ten this year. Every year we have a player who drops like a rock for whatever reasons. For example, Matt Leinart was a possible top 5 pick but dropped to the 10th spot. Aaron Rodgers of the Packers was the 2nd rathed qb behind Alex Smith and he dropped all the way to the Packer in the late 20's if I remember correctly. Not saying Brady will drop that far but I don't see him as a top 5 players. That might change if he has a good combine or workout performance, but for now I don't see him as a Brown. They have Charlie Frye who is a pretty good qb. I think they will pick Adrian Peterson or trade down to gather draft picks.

True. if the lions pick thomas, and cleveland picks ap or branch or whoever...quinn could fall to us (dont want the pick) or to Miami who could pick him at #9. he could fall down to like 14 too.

I don't think Him being a top 3 pick is a lock. Likely he will but can see him falling to 9 a lot more than I couldve see leinart falling.

He might be the more pro ready qb like leinart but will be picked behing Russell (like Young).

Ah nope. I stand to disagreed and am dang glad you're not running the Texans draft. You just truned your nose at Boselli II.

The only difference is that Gallery is a RT that the Raiders tried to plug in at LT.

I would say he has played pretty well at RT for the Raiders.

Thomas looks like a true LT.

Ironicaly enough, they might have to put him at Rt to protect Leinart's blind side, who is left handed.

No way Jammall Anderson falls to 21. He is at worst the 3rd best defensive player in the draft, possibly the best and is likley to go in the top 5. Also, AP is the top running back and there is absolutley no chance he is not a first round pick, shouldnt make it out of the top 10.

As I said , this mock was based purely on team need and no team had a pressing need for a DE between 6 & 21.

In my view, Anderson is the 3rd best DE behind Woodley & Adams. All 3 are really close in talent, I just have them in a different order than you.

I didnt see a team that needed a RB more than anything else, thats why I didnt put Peterson anywhere. If I do another mock I am positive that Anderson will move up and that Peterson will be a top 10.

The best one I've seen you do bah.
My nit picks, and at this point I could be just as wrong as you are correct. Not going to argue over the top eleven.

12. Ugoh to the Bills. I think Ugoh has prety much been exposed this week at the practices. He has all the physical tools. However his foot work and technique are off the chart awefull. OLT is a major neede with Buffalo. However, as needy as they are, they take a tremendous gamble on Ugoh at the twelve. He just isn't ready. He is a notch below Quam Harris and Jordan Gross and is no means ready to start. It may take a full year to get the guy on line. The eye in the sky don't lie. And everyone in the one on one drills beat the guy.

17. Jacksonville Jamacus Russel. If Kubiak gets the chance at his Elway, he is going to jump all over that like a chicken on a june bug. Russel will not get by us much less fall to the seventeen to Jacksonville. Gruden would go ape at this oportunity. He is too good of a prospect to slide.

25. Aaron Ross. He's another guy who has been exposed and will fall because of his preformance in the senior bowl practices. I saw five times he had oportunites to make plays on the ball and he was either out of position or he simply inexplicably didn't, wouln't , couldn't make the play. So he is kinda like Ugoh. He has all the pysical tools in the world but he doesn't make plays. I'll be danged if I know why ? I can see some one reaching on the guy. But just guessing here, he may have Antwion Peek desease. Looks like Tarzan, Plays like Jane.

28 Marcus McCauley. We were correct about this guy. He is the weirdest one of all. This guy covers like a bear in press. And can't cover sqaut in the Tampa two. What are you goning to do with the guy ? Maybe the pats know how to coach him up. A big corner like that, with those cover skills makes him valuable. Someone is going to reach on him for sure with the dearth of cover corners on the board this year. He can do that. Cover in the press. He can't cover in a zone. He couldn't do it all week. Like I posted...weird.

Might die of a heart attack if KC drafts a front line wide out. Not saying Ginn Jr. is front line, but been a while since KC has done it. With Herm Edward's quest to grind LJ into the NFL grist Mill with 400 plus carries a season, I'll believe a WR pick when I see it. Their o-line collapsed this season. They have to play the Raiders and Denver twice a year, and they got a grey beard QB. Edwards might be a canidate to take one of the front line gaurds. Not saying you are worng on your mock. Just pointing stuff out.

What I'm seeing of the Corners, JMHO, anyone takes one in the first two rounds...that there thing is a reach for need. None of these guys are front line NFL corners. The corners not here, with good work outs at the combine are going to start shooting up the boards. These guys are going to slide.
