COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The University of Texas is countering a jab from an Aggie business owner by taking him to court over his “saw em off” variation of the familiar Longhorn logo.

The UT System Board of Regents claims in its lawsuit that Fadi Kalaouze’s merchandise adorned with an inverted Longhorn logo with its horns detached is a trademark infringement.

The lawsuit argues that Kalaouze, a 1991 Texas A&M University graduate and the owner of two College Station stores, is illegally using a design that tarnishes and mutilates the trademarked Longhorn logo.

This is nothing new. UT's been suing people for years for ripping off their trademarks.

Not any different than A&M suing the Seahawks over the "12th Man."

That "Saw 'em Off" crap doesn't bother most Longhorns anyway.

Yea, I can understand why they are upset. I would be upset if I had to go to t.u., too.

Yep it is SO much better to go to s&m.
lol:

1. You must like being the butt of many jokes.
2. You enjoy your school operating on significantly less money.
3. You would rather live in College "Bomb Shelter" Station than Austin, Chris Fowler's favorite college town?
4. Your school has one great 11 year stretch against Texas (late 80's-early 90's). Subtract those years from the win-loss totals and you couldn't even consider it a real rivalry, well unless you consider Tennessee and Vanderbilt rivals.
5. You act like you win a National Championship when you finally beat alleged rival seven years after your last victory (those rare wins must be something special).
6. You enjoy standing all game long instead of relaxing and sipping (hehe) your drink.
7. You must like waiting for your football championships...as we are one year from Texas' last one, and something like 70 years since s&m's last.

1. You must like being the butt of many jokes. Actually, yes the jokes can be quite humorous. It's much better being an Aggie and not having Bevo's horns stuck up my a**.
2. You enjoy your school operating on significantly less money. Please provide a source for your info. Also, if this is one of your qualifications for a great university, then I guess many schools would fall under the weight and dollar of the mighty T.U.
3. You would rather live in College "Bomb Shelter" Station than Austin, Chris Fowler's favorite college town? No, I prefer spending my time around good ole hick boys named Hank and Jed. Much better than your gay, Austin buddy named Lance.

Subtract those years from the win-loss totals and you couldn't even consider it a real rivalry, well unless you consider Tennessee and Vanderbilt rivals. I think you're really just upset about the lack of production from your basketball team.
5. You act like you win a National Championship when you finally beat alleged rival seven years after your last victory (those rare wins must be something special). Yep! 12-7 sure was nice. By the way, how's your boy Colt doin?
6. You enjoy standing all game long instead of relaxing and sipping (hehe) your drink. It's called passion my friend, and it has Kyle Field rated, year in and year out, as one of the toughest places to play a college football game. When's the last time Darrell K. Royal was on that list?
7. You must like waiting for your football championships...as we are one year from Texas' last one, and something like 70 years since s&m's last. 1 year, 70 years... It's all the past man. Enjoy it. Revel in it. You got the character guy and the leader in Vince Young. We got the whiney brat with all the talent in Reggie McNeal. But let's not forget how my boys Michael Goodson and Jorvorskie Lane ran all over your number one ranked rushing defense. Gig 'Em Ags!

Well it's 7:45 on Friday morning,
He just crawled outta bed.
He stayed too long at the Chicken again
And he's got an achin' head.
He's got an 8-o'clock at Heldenfels
His prof speaks Japanese.
Went broke on beer and Mr. Bills
Now he lives on bread and cheese.

He's a fightin' Texas Aggie and he just don't give a damn
That he's got 3 parking tickets
And he's on sco-pro again
But the bonfire's built
And Varsity's horns have been sawed right off his head,
He's a fightin' Texas Aggie
And he will be 'til he's dead.

Well it's Wednesday morning at Gollie Rollie
His sports pass in his hand
He's been waitin' three days in the blazin' sun
Just to be with his twelfth man
But after fumbles and interceptions
He takes his girlfriend's hand
But the game don't mean a thing to her
She's just there to see the band

He's a fightin' Texas Aggie and he just don't give a damn
That he's got 6 parking tickets
And he's on sco-pro again
But the bonfire's built
And Varsity's horns have been sawed right off his head,
He's a fightin' Texas Aggie
And he will be 'til he's dead.

Well he goes down to the Dixie Chicken
He's dunking his ring tonight
He's there at 6:30,
He thought it'd be early
But there ain't a table in sight
So he buys his pitcher anyway
And he drops his ring on in
Singing, "the road goes on forever
And the party never ends"!

He's a fightin' Texas Aggie and he just don't give a damn
That he's got 9 parking tickets
And he's on sco-pro again
But the bonfire's built
And Varsity's horns have been sawed right off his head,
He's a fightin' Texas Aggie
And he will be 'til he's dead.

Well it's one-o'clock
And "Goodnight Irene" is blarin' through the place
He parked about 50 blocks away
So he ain't got time to waste
When he finally makes it to his car
He stands up on his feet
He says, "Boy's lets head to Taco Cabana,
I think I need somethin' to eat."

He's a fightin' Texas Aggie and he just don't give a damn
That he's got 12 parking tickets
And he's on sco-pro again
But the bonfire's built
And Varsity's horns have been sawed right off his head,
He's a fightin' Texas Aggie
And he will be 'til he's dead.

Well he picks up a "Battalion"
Just to see what's going on
But all he finds to read about
Is what we're doin' wrong
"This school's too damn conservative!"
I guess they want us to be
Like all the hippies down in Austin
Wearin' orange and sippin' tea.

He's a fightin' Texas Aggie and he just don't give a damn
That he's got 12 parking tickets
And he's on sco-pro again
But the bonfire's built
And Varsity's horns have been sawed right off his head,
He's a fightin' Texas Aggie
And he will be...'til he's dead.
Ah-hah!

get over yourself burnt orange. i am sure you could go to austin or some longhorn fan's place and find the same type stuff.

Well in that case...

Since our NC win is "all in the past man" then that means your win this year was "in the past" and you should stop talking about that since we cant brag about bein the champs last year.

Agreed, they are just schools. Schools are for improving your education/and research, not football. Why have $$$$$$$$$ Football factories to develop talent for our Texans to draft (but they never do). Why don't we have football academies instead, like the baseball academies in Latin America?

Schools spend an insane amount of money just to play 6 games a year on their field. Turn some of that hate and $$$$$$$$ to solving the crisis in Iraq or curing cancer/aids.

1. I don't get that...was kind of lame actually. But hey that's what an A&M education gets you.

2. I am not sure about this one. But i know UT is regularly ranked higher in best colleges to attend lists and best value colleges in the US

3. I'm not sure you see the complete Irony in that statement. See #1

4. Umm hate to burst your bubble.....but they've been to a Final four in 2002 i believe and Have players Drafted to the NBA on a yearly basis. Though i admit A&M basketball has grown in leaps and bounds over the past two years.

5. Once again A&M's AIM is to beat UT. UT is to WIN a NATIONAL TITLE. You act like 12-7 was some sort of...complete one sided victory....if wanted to see one of those i'd recall that 77-0 game A&M put up against OU....that's something to brag about. As for Colt he did fine in putting up impressive numbers in UT's Bowl VICTORY. When's the last time A&M won one of those? The last two have been ugly blowouts. Btw did i mention with that victory UT is the only team in the last 6 years to reach 10 victories? The last time A&M had one was...?

6. Must be a real tough place to play in as even the home team finds it hard...ags lost some close ones at home this year.

7. It's called recruiting my friend and who is regularly in 3 recruiting classes year in and out? I've give you a clue out of A&M and UT...it's not A&M. Out of Goodson and Lane having a good game agaisnt my rivalry opponent or a championship. I think I'll take the title. But then again...did you hear about the Aggie that was so excited about winning a gold medal he got it bronzed?

8. One that that always has had me curious....for such a homophobic school....why do y'all have men cheerleaders?

Ridiculous cases like this is another reason the reputation of lawyers gets lower and lower each day.

Why? You would get a job befor an A&M guy does!!

Haha, companies will be competing to get me, bro. I will know who and where I will work by the time I am a Senior. I will message you back when I have PSL's in the Club section in a few years. Oh yea, and the Head Coach of this team is an Aggie. I guess it's a t.u. thing to be forgetful like that.

This thread is laughable. teasips are as predictable as they are.... well... we won't be getting into that. This is a family board and such things should not be discussed.

I just hope the idiotic posters from hornfans and texags do not start contributing to this thread. The moderators will become very busy.

The head coach of the a&m basketball is a Bobcat, the a&m football coach was a coach of the Bobcats. It doesn't matter, they will coach for whoever pays them the $$$.

Trademark enfringement is no laughing matter nor is profiting off of the wrong people without their consent. Surely our Aggies would not want anyone disrespecting their symbols and would fight, or rattle a sabre at someone, if anyone enfringed upon their tradition or holy relics.

The guy should have been more careful, next time he will be prepared.

1/26/07--Saw Em Off Friday!

And for the guy talking about Chris Fowler and how Austin is his favorite college town.......didnt he refer to ya'll in the past year as a "wine and cheese crowd," when you had your pathetic showing at College Gameday. Then didn't he proceed to mock you as you shouted...."**** you Fowler!!!!!"...??? Am I wrong? Sounds like he loves ya'll.

Well in that case...

Since our NC win is "all in the past man" then that means your win this year was "in the past" and you should stop talking about that since we cant brag about bein the champs last year.

Exactly my point. Just had to point out that we also acheived some things in the past. But it wasn't exactly a national championship, but it felt great nonetheless. Just trying to enjoy the moment, just as you enjoyed your national championship win. The rivalry is all in fun my friend.

1. I don't get that...was kind of lame actually. But hey that's what an A&M education gets you. Ok, let me spell it out for you. As an Aggie, some jokes, or a lot of jokes, about the type of people that attend there really don't bother me. In fact, as I said, they can be quite humrous. What I meant was, good ole T.U. boys can't seem to take a joke and seem to have Bevo's horns shoved up their asses.

2. I am not sure about this one. But i know UT is regularly ranked higher in best colleges to attend lists and best value colleges in the US. Agreed, if you check the statistics, A&M is routinely rated among the top schools in the U.S. as well. Yes, T.U. is a great university. I have no problems admitting this fact. Good school, but some people just prefer the conservative atmosphere College Station brings. You my friend are just trying to start beef. Which could be arranged if you'd just hand over your fat ass cow. Or girlfriend maybe....

3. I'm not sure you see the complete Irony in that statement. See #1. Hmmm, it seems to me you don't see my point. Sure, Austin is a fun town. A town also filled with gays and liberals, the same type of people I choose to stay away from. I have no problem with you being gay, if you are buddy, but I just prefer good ole hick boys over liberal gays. Did I make that clear enough?

4. Umm hate to burst your bubble.....but they've been to a Final four in 2002 i believe and Have players Drafted to the NBA on a yearly basis. Though i admit A&M basketball has grown in leaps and bounds over the past two years. Thanks for the admittance. Not trying to start a flame war here, man. Yes, T.U. has had some great programs. And Kevin Durant is one of the best players in college basketball, but don't act like A&M is a bunch of nobodys.

Look, the three games we lost in the regular season were by six points, man. As far as I'm concerned, that's Big Twelve Championship material. So our biggest problem at the moment is Coach Fran. We need a coach with some balls, something Mac Brown is finally starting to exhibit. OU and Nebraska should not have beaten us. They were fluke wins blown by a coach who just isn't cutting it. And Tech beat us by a last second touchdown. I'd love to see what California would have done to you guys.....

6. Must be a real tough place to play in as even the home team finds it hard...ags lost some close ones at home this year. See question 5. I hate Fran and even many of the faithful Ags were booing him we he didn't go to J-Train on that 3rd and 2 and 3rd and 3 against OU and Nebraska.

Great job on recruiting man. I won't argue this point. Texas has year in and year out done a good job. But look back at the last few years and you will see Fran has out recruited you guys until this year. His lack of coaching ability is killing us right now. So yeah, props to you guys for striking gold with Vince Young. If you tell me he wasn't the soul reason for that National Title, you're an *****.

8. One that that always has had me curious....for such a homophobic school....why do y'all have men cheerleaders?[/QUOTE] They are called yell leaders. You think the army has women come out to cheer them on when they're at war. I'll leave it at that.

Classic! rep coming your way.

And look, I don't know if this topic is still going on, but everyone needs to chill out. It's a football rivalry. Both schools are good schools, just T.U. has gotten away with paying for their players a bit longer than the Ags. Oh, I could be mistaken, but don't you guys have a T-Sip on the NCAA Sanctions Committee? Hmmmm........

Give it up.

Give what up? This petty argument over what school is better? If that's the case, than sure. Look both schools are great schools, I just prefer Texas A&M. And Longhorns seems to lash out in anger over 12-7....

Should be enough to pay for another enormous HDTV. :aikido:
This kind of crap doesn't bother me other than the fact that the Aggies think Longhorns care...

Haha, that's classic coming from you. You are expressing your lack of concern, therefore you do care.

Those two terms dont even deserve to be capitalized. :shades:

Agreed but just trying to be respectful. I'm as hardcore an Aggie as you get, but I'm not here on a TEXANS board to start a bunch of ****. Gig 'Em TexansLucky. Keep standing up for them Aggies against all these t-sips.

Take note TL13. He's civilized in these "discussions." :winky:

Are you saying I'm civilized or TL is?

The thing that baffles me about t-sips is, as liberals, or at least predominately liberal, they seem to be all about free speach, freedom of press, freedom to do whatever the hell they want. Yet when it comes to Aggies, choosing to want to be in a "crap" or whatever kind of town the other guy was referring to College Station as, he seems to throw out an Aggies freedom to want to be around our kind of people. You say Austin is better and blah blah blah, but perhaps Austonians are not the type we want to surround ourselves with. Interesting.....

1. You must like being the butt of many jokes. Actually, yes the jokes can be quite humorous. It's much better being an Aggie and not having Bevo's horns stuck up my a**.
What? What does this mean? Retarded banter.

2. You enjoy your school operating on significantly less money. Please provide a source for your info. Also, if this is one of your qualifications for a great university, then I guess many schools would fall under the weight and dollar of the mighty T.U.The university of Texas has more funding. We have a large amount more students, so numerically more successful, and more endowments and contributions. Tough one to figure out with logic there, eh?

3. You would rather live in College "Bomb Shelter" Station than Austin, Chris Fowler's favorite college town? No, I prefer spending my time around good ole hick boys named Hank and Jed. Much better than your gay, Austin buddy named Lance.

Did you just call Lance Armstrong gay? The man who beat cancer, and continued to beat the europeans at their own sport? The same man who when introduction of athletes was being done, claimed Texas as his home country?

4. Your school has one great 11 year stretch against Texas (late 80's-early 90's). Subtract those years from the win-loss totals and you couldn't even consider it a real rivalry, well unless you consider Tennessee and Vanderbilt rivals. I think you're really just upset about the lack of production from your basketball team.

What? We won 30 games last season? What? We went to a final four a couple years back? What, Kevin Durant? Lets not bring basketball into it, you know the only reason you bring it up is because the football team doesn't give you much to be proud of.

5. You act like you win a National Championship when you finally beat alleged rival seven years after your last victory (those rare wins must be something special). Yep! 12-7 sure was nice. By the way, how's your boy Colt doin?

Oh, you know. Just winning bowl games and setting freshman records. Enjoy the victory, you may get 2 leap years in before you get to experience another.

6. You enjoy standing all game long instead of relaxing and sipping (hehe) your drink. It's called passion my friend, and it has Kyle Field rated, year in and year out, as one of the toughest places to play a college football game. When's the last time Darrell K. Royal was on that list?

Students stand all game at Texas as well. Why A&M makes a big deal about it while Texas fans just do it I'll never understand.

Maybe we should also remember the all time record.

I'm not disputing this. Man you T.U. guys love mentioning this. Yes, you have a better all-time record against us. Way to go! Props! Way to maintain a great football program for a long time. But you have to admit, the record has been accumulated over years of dominance by both programs. We had our time under Bear Bryant, Jackie Sherrell, and the early years of R.C. Slocum. We are also ranked in the top 20, if I'm not mistaken, of all College Football teams. So yay! T.U. Good job guys. But A&M is no slouch. And we will continue to be no slouch. To say there is no rivalry is asinine. Because we beat you this year, and who knows what will come over the next few seasons. Personally I just hope we get rid of Fran. Unless he shows a completely different coaching philosophy, as Mac Brown did when he got Vince, then we may not see the results I know we can produce. All I'm saying is watch out. The future is bright, for both programs. I just hope the Ags come out on top. So stop turning this in to a flame war. It's football guys. Chill. Most if not all of you were not even alive for that first Longhorns title so chill out. Maybe the Ags will get one too. But if not, I will be just as content Beatin the hell out of Texas! Whhooooppp!!!

No, it's the truth. UT and OU is 20 times the rivalry that A&M and UT is. But maybe from an Aggies point of view it is a rivalry and only from an Aggies point of view.

So I'm sitting there watching the Texans beating the Jags and these two Jag fans behind me had a camera...............

Alright well then I say it's time the t-sips stop making Aggie Jokes, that ags along with t-sips find humorous and end this rivalry. From now on, the Texas-Texas A&M game will be just another game.... That is until some piece of ******* liberal t-sip start doing their little "poor Aggie" routine. Then we'll all see what Aggies are made of and who's fueling the fire around here.

You know, why don't you guys just go hang with your steer and queers and just leave us redneck Aggies alone. Let us enjoy our drinkin, our yell practice, our hangovers, and just let it all be damned. And you guys, go prance around in your orange panties, sippin tea from a mug, and roam around like the pricks you know you all are.

Wow, that was a mature response............

All of this over some dude that decided to modify the Horns logo. Shame on UT for getting it's panties in a wad over something so stupid. Shame on some of these posters for doing the same.

12th man with Seattle Seahawks ring a bell? Both schools get their panties in a wad, just two enormous state football factories. Devote all this aggression to something useful.

I was too quick to judge...

No, I prefer spending my time around good ole hick boys named Hank and Jed. Much better than your gay, Austin buddy named Lance.
Ah yes...the sterotypes. Then I reckon you're okay with being a sheep molesting nazi? And of course, there's no such thing as a gay Aggie.

I think you're really just upset about the lack of production from your basketball team.
Probably. Final Four in '02 and Sweet 16 last year. How terrible.

Yep! 12-7 sure was nice. By the way, how's your boy Colt doin?
He's doin' pretty good. He was named Offensive MVP of the bowl game and tied the NCAA record for most TD passes by a freshman QB. How'd your bowl game turn out?

It's called passion my friend, and it has Kyle Field rated, year in and year out, as one of the toughest places to play a college football game. When's the last time Darrell K. Royal was on that list?
Aggie's record at Kyle Field the past 5 years - 20-13

DKR over the same time frame - 28-3

Also, congrats on the recent renovations at Kyle. I hear the indoor plumbing has been a big hit with the fans.

The inability to differentiate between a winning a rivalry game and winning the National Championship speaks volumes.

Scoreboard is very important. But why would you forget to mention McGee...the actual leading rusher in that game?

Where/When did anybody say anything about A&M being a bunch of nobodies in basketball? Their basketball team wasn't even brought into the discussion until you spoke up about Texas being disappointed with their team. In fact, the only thing mentioned about your basketball team was a compliment about how they've improved ('Course, when you go winless in the Big12 one year, where else to go but up?) the past two years.

In other words, it sounds a lot like somebody else is disappointed with the production of their basketball team and is very sensitive about it.

Look, the three games we lost in the regular season were by six points, man. As far as I'm concerned, that's Big Twelve Championship material. So our biggest problem at the moment is Coach Fran. We need a coach with some balls, something Mac Brown is finally starting to exhibit. OU and Nebraska should not have beaten us. They were fluke wins blown by a coach who just isn't cutting it. And Tech beat us by a last second touchdown. I'd love to see what California would have done to you guys.....
While we're putting things into perspective (Look, we lost 3 games by 6 points)...

You beat Army by 4 points
You beat Kansas by 3 points
You beat Missouri by 6 points
You beat Oklahoma State by 1 point

While being 6 points away from being undefeated in the regular season, you were also 14 points away from being 4-8.

Is that what you'd consider Big12 Championship material?

Great job on recruiting man. I won't argue this point. Texas has year in and year out done a good job. But look back at the last few years and you will see Fran has out recruited you guys until this year. His lack of coaching ability is killing us right now. So yeah, props to you guys for striking gold with Vince Young. If you tell me he wasn't the soul reason for that National Title, you're an *****.
No he (Fran) hasn't (out-recruited Texas the last few years). History lesson (based souly on Rivals' rankings):

2004 - Texas - Ranked 10th with 20 players with a 3.5 star avg.
2004 - A&M - Ranked 13th with 28 players with a 2.93 star avg.

2005 - Texas - Ranked 20th with 15 players with a 3.6 star avg.
2005 - A&M - Ranked 8th with 26 players with a 3.23 star avg.

2006 - Texas - Ranked 5th with 25 players with a 3.6 star avg.
2006 - A&M - Ranked 27th with 23 players with a 2.96 avg.

The same Ags that were proclaiming they got the better QB between McNeal and Young (the soul reason for Texas' MNC), continue to say they've been recruiting better.

Oh yea, and the Head Coach of this team is an Aggie. I guess it's a t.u. thing to be forgetful like that.
Would it be an Aggy thing to forget that Tom Landry was a Longhorn?

Gary Kubiak - Aggie
Tom Landry - Longhorn

Hmm...that's a real toughie between which coach I'd want coaching my team.

No, it's the truth. UT and OU is 20 times the rivalry that A&M and UT is. But maybe from an Aggies point of view it is a rivalry and only from an Aggies point of view.
I totally disagree with this.

I think A&M is the much bigger rival because a rival goes beyond a field of play.

OU is the bigger game.
A&M is the bigger rival.

I think A&M is the much bigger rival because a rival goes beyond a field of play.

OU is the bigger game.
A&M is the bigger rival.

Not a chance.

For A&M, UT is a bigger rivalry than OU because its like trying to beat your big brother.

For UT, its not even close. OU is by far a bigger rival than A&M.

Hence OU being the bigger game.

The Texas/A&M rivalry is not limited to just the football/basketball/etc. playing field.

Texas always wants to beat OU on the football field because it's meant more on the national stage over the course of history. That's not been the case with A&M throughout the years.

But is there an academic rivalry with OU? Not even close. Is there a political rivalry (Texas is perceived as the liberal school...A&M the conservative) with OU? No. A&M and Texas have more to be rivals about than sports and that makes it a bigger rivalry.

But the UT/OU football game has always meant more.

Hmm...that's a real toughie between which coach I'd want coaching my team.

And how many seasons has Gary Kubiak been a HC? How can you even compare these two when one of them hasn't even barely started his Head Coaching job? That's a lame argument on your part, Huge. I expected better from you, I think.

I mostly disagree with everything you say (not systematically, but it just seems that you never say anything that I agree with), but I do agree with your sentiments about the rivalry. All you are concerned about is the modern rivalry, and since that is the case, I would be ignorant to try and claim that the OU - t.u. game is less than the A&M - t.u. game. That said, I agree that the rivalry itself is much much deeper than that of OU.

After 12-7, though, I think the teasips may have to begin to reconsider the future of the on-field rivalry, as well.

Shoot I come back and this thing has gone crazy. I was about to respond, but it looks like Ckw5814 and Huge did my work for me. I'll leave a few last comments:

1. I agree with Huge that the OU game is the bigger game. That really goes without saying. I think determining whether the Texas/OU rivalry or the Texas/S&M rivalry is bigger is debateable.

I personally think the OU/Texas game is a bigger rivalry, but I can understand someone feeling the other way. I like the fact that it is a border war with loyal Texans vs. 2/3 disloyal Texans and 1/3 Okies (easy to see the good guys/bad guy angle). The Aggie/Texas game is a fight amongst friends and family. You share offices and win ridiculous bets. It is really a matter of taste.

2. One thing is clear, though, we are s&m's biggest rival. No need to debate that.

3. In Austin guys like Lance come out of the closet and the straight guys like me can keep our distance. The problem in College Station is that you never know if Hank or Jeb secretly harbors secret feelings for you. You might not want to have TOO much to drink at the Chicken with those two.

4. Oh and the members of the s&m band are "affectionately" called B.Q.'s, which stands for "Band Queers". They must be the only out in the open ones in town.
