Does Kubes still want Frank Bush?

Frank Bush that is. He seems to be available, he is no longer shown on he Cardinals site as being the LB coach? They just announce the hiring of SF DC Billy Davis as new lLB coach.

Since this got moved it got me thinking, even if this post was about Reggie Bush why would it be moved to the draft board? He is a current NFL player, what ever question about Reggie now would not be draft related. It could be trade related or a review of this years perfomance. I am sure you guys & gals have to do a lot to keep these boards smooth and all but it seems that this was a bit of an over zelious or is it just a slow mod day?

I moved it back, but did not initially move it. It was moved to the draft section erroneously and probably should have gone to the NFL section both times. Without having the name Frank in the title something was going to happen to that thread or in that thread. :)
 
They went after him, but was denied permission. That may change now.

I'm a bit surprised they still want him, considering the job Richard Smith did in improving the defense. I mean, what's the hierarchy going to be? And would Bush try to impose the Denver defensive philosophy? I'd like to see some continuity, particularly after they just switched from the 3-4.
 
Don't have a link but, I am sure I read somewhere yesterday that they were denied permission again.

The Texans had hoped to talk to Bush about joining the team as an assistant head coach/defense. It would have been a defensive coaching position similar to the one Mike Sherman held last season when he was the assistant head coach/offense and primarily focused on the offensive line.

That's correct, but now that Wiesenhunt is the coach, Bush is up for grabs.
 
Frank Bush was let go after Whisenhunt was hired.

The Cards had recently denied permission for a second straight year for the Texans to talk to Bush, but now Bush is free to go to Houston. Texans head coach Gary Kubiak, a good friend of Bush after both coached in Denver, wanted Bush on his staff last year as co-defensive coordinator.

Kubiak wanted Bush and Smith as co-coordinators a year ago, but now that Smith has a year as coordinator it's not quite the same dynamic. It will be interesting to see how Kubiak utilizes both. Johnny Holland is LBs coach.

I remember Bush as a player here and he had a promising career ahead of him until the neck thing forced early retirement. Obviously Kubiak likes him a lot and I think he may have preferred Bush over Smith to begin with.
 
If they can add Frank Bush to the coaching staff then that's a positive and a no-brainer for Gary Kubiak. You find a way to bring the man on board.

He had planned for Smith and Bush to work together before so obviously he felt they could do so.

The Texans are expected to make a job offer to Bush. Kubiak wanted to hire Bush as his defensive coordinator last year, but Arizona denied the Texans a chance to talk with him and nixed a second request last week. That changed this weekend when Bush, a former player, scout and coach with the Oilers, was released by the Cardinals.

Was Jethro, Tampa's d-line coach last year? I remember it was Marinelli for awhile before that.

Anyways, that WRs coach looks to have a good resume and Bush sounds like a good addition.

It appears our coaching staff just got stronger!!!

If I recall correctly, Bush didn't suffer a spinal injury per se .... but had a pre-existing condition (stenosis) that put him at higher risk for serious spinal cord injury if he took a hard shot to the neck/head area. I seem to recall the docs discovering the condition during a follow up exam after he took a shot to the head during a game. But that was 20 years ago so details are foggy...

(and kudos to the cowardly 'ass' that left negative comments on this post but didn't leave his name -- lol - like it's real hard to figure out who you are... )

he went numb when he was in on some tackle vs Kansas City in 1986...led to the diagnosis and effectively ended his career. He had a hell of a rookie season too. Too bad.
 
Still defensive coordinator -- but Bush is probably going to get one of those "assistant head coach - defense" titles. It will be interesting to watch the pecking order evolve. Like I said earlier, I think Kubiak may have held Bush in higher regard than Smith from the get-go. He just couldn't get him.
 
Does anyone know how the defense will change if at all? Will we be a little bit more agressive with Bush on the staff? More read and react types or what?

I am happy to see that he has mucho experience coaching linebackers, that bodes well for DROY's development!!!

Wow, I was wondering if this was the same Frank Bush. And so it is. I remember him well. He was a really bright spot on a team re-emerging from a really bad batch of seasons. Seemed to makes plays all over the field. Real shame he couldn't continue. Hope he comes back to Houston!
 
Bringing in a lot of veteran coaches will really help us out, our coaching staff is as young as a lot of nfl teams! Keeping Sherman as offensive coordinator, bringing in Frank Bush, and that recievers and d line coach really help us out. I wasn't a big fan of having Kyle Shanahan and Troy Calhoun having a lot to say with our offense, now that Kyle will be working with qbs and Calhoun is out with Sherman taking over, it will really add some maturity to our coaching staff, which is needed.

That's interesting. I wonder how Richard Smith feels about this. The defense seemed to improve as the season went on and now he has some of his power taken away from him. While I'm sure Kubiak, McNair and Rick Smith talked to Richard Smith about this before following through with it, you still have to wonder if there will be some type of power struggle on who has the most control over the defense.
