Why Mario Williams is a Texan and not Bush

DatTexBoy

Waterboy
I'm not one to start a rumor :spy: that has no grounding to it neither do I believe most rumors I hear. But obviously, I won't disclose my source but I was told the Texans were paid MILLIONS to not draft Reggie Bush by the Saints. Enough millions to pay Mario Williams:piano:

Oh, come on. For starters, McClain would want to do what's best for the team and we are in the salary cap era. The fact is that Bush has issues with running between the tackles and his family/houses/agents stuff also scared the Texans away some.

Don't disclose your source. At least he'll avoid the embarrassment of a ridiculous assertion.

That thought was always in the back of my mind.
With the situation in NO, I figured he would be more of a draw to bring the fans back.
What were their season ticket sales like before & after the draft?

I'd be afraid to play when Mario is on the other side. he has been on a tear lately. He has been trying to decapitate anybody whe comes near him.

Emotion... the man is on fire and he is a beast.
shame his foot hurts.

Exactly. Add in the fact Bush reportedly wanted an obscene amount of money to be the first pick and Williams was the better choice.

The Texans simply had a great draft and it is time to acknowledge it.

This story might hold some merit if there wasnt such a thing as a salary cap.

If the Saints paid us the money to sign Mario then that means that McNair gets to pocket the money that he was gonna use.

Now McNair is a rich guy so you never know... but he is also a stand-up guy too.

I dont think he would pocket $54 million.

Not that I believe the story, but it could happen indirectly, investing in a Mcnair-owned company, or something like that.

I could see it happening.....just like this....

McNair: So Gary, we've decided on Mario right ?

Kubiak: Yeah Bob....I really like the guy

*****an hour later*****

Saints GM: Hey we'll pay you to take Mario

McNair: O.k....

My sources tell me that Bush was very overrated by the so-called 'experts' and the Texans drafted for need.

And I will reveal my sources: nfl.com and this message board. :D

Although there has been some speculation by the tinfoil-hat crowd that owners - being the multi-billionaires that they are - made a deal for New Orleans because of the public relations hit they took after Katrina. Confirmation of this backroom deal will be confirmed when the NFL gives Houston another Superbowl during the next owners' meeting. :shades:

Wow.

If this is the context of the situation then who would blame McNair?

Always figured it was McNair who paid his own money to New Orleans........oh yeah that was the Katrina releif effort :club:

it was a football decision based upon the best interest of the Texans :ok:

IF we did what John MacCheese wanted his MANCRUSH Vince would be our starting QB, he wanted his heartthrob to BE QB..I don't seem to recall him slobbering over Reggie AT ALL

Bush and Rumsfeld were responsible. Halliburton and oil.

That's all the response this troll deserves.

Can't believe that but believes President Bush knew there were mass weapons of destruction in Iraq

Just saying...everything that is outlandish sounding may have some merit to it...and everything that sounds credible may be full of lies...like your boy Saban saying he is not going to be the Alabama coach...how many times do I have to say it?....ugh, probably til you stop lying through your teeth mr. man

Haha that really would have made me question some things if that were to have happened right after we drafted him. Maybe thats the real reason Goodell replaced Tagliabue!!!? lol

In all seriousness, not that there is an merit to this story, What would be the legal ramifications if something like this were to happen, if any? Are there any rules that teams cannot pass money to each other for any reason...ie draft picks, players, etc. What about paying the other teams cap hit with a player trade?

Examples:
1-texans pay chargers $100 million for Ladanian Tomlinson. Texans will then renegotiate the contract or keep current one.
2-texans pay the atlanta falcons $5 million for their 1st rd draft pick.
3-texans trade David Carr to Denver for Jake Plummer, texans then would incur cap hit for carr and will also pay Denver $xxxxx for the cap hit in trading Plummer
4-tennessee pays minnesota $xxxx to draft Adrian Peterson so the texans can't draft him.

can you do that? just curious. for some reason i don't think you could but i dont know..

Wasn't cash involved when Oakland traded John Gruden to Tampa Bay? I'm sure it can't involve players, but I think the rules are different for coaches (e.g. there is no salary cap for coaches)

lol:

Might have been great if it weren't for the 1st pick.
RB, VY, or trading down to address the O-line were ALL better options.

LOL, because radio show call in its have revived it. Seriously, you embarass your family/friends when you call in asking the radio show hosts, no TELLING them, that a reliable source told you Tagliabue (SP?) paid McNair not to take Bush to revive New Orleans. LMAO.

I felt pretty bad that Bush was told NOT to attend the Rose Bowl. Not sure what's true and what isn't, but USC totally turned their back on a guy that brought them so much. USC doesn't ever treat OJ that way.

I don't really know the whole story about that but apparently only had a few sideline passes and he wasn't given one...i think they had like 5.

EDIT: by they i meant USC. my bad

Mr. McNair has given so much money to charity, that the IRS told him that he cant claim his charity donations on his taxes for the next 10 years or so, and he still gives to charity.

Also.. Mr. McNair is worth about 1.5 Billion dollars.

So, a guy who is worth 1.5 billion, who is giving away money left and right.. is going to take payoff of.. what? 20 million? 50 million? to skip over a player like Bush?

Lets also look at it this way. If he actually wanted Bush, why would he give him up for 50 million when he would most likely make that or MORE back from product sales? the Texans make about 150 million a year in revenues.. you think having Bush on the team wouldnt have been a big boost to that?

ALSO..why would we then give a high profile player that WILL boost fan awareness of the team, to a very close rival that is capable of stealing fans from us?

This rumor sounds like something made up by a group of ignorant drunken jackholes.

Someone hit his guy with a negitive rep I'm out.
QUOTE from VINNY:
I'm tired of the same redundant group of fans giving negative reputation to anyone who doesn't support their POV...so I disabled negative reps. It works well on the 9er forum.....This forum was always a bit more mature...but honestly, I've had enough. It's way too much work to police this.

If any of you guys get vulgar or ugly comments back there please report it (I don't have the time to check them all individually). I'll chunk the whole thing if this won't work.
END VINNY

I was going to give DatTexBoy the negative rep (the first negative rep I would have ever given out) he is working for so hard for, but Vinny has disabled it. I definitely understand Vinny's point (WHAT? You disagree that Carr is the (greatest/worst) ever - BAM negative rep). But the downside is that DatTexBoy now feels free to crawl out from under his rock and revive his own 2 month old lunacy. I hope the rest of the tinfoil club doesn't find out...

I thought that the foil was supposed to protect my brain from being stolen by aliens. Seriously though, I look at this next season being quite interesting.

How about this one? A pitcher was traded for 60 cases of bud light:

Does your source know where HOFFA is, too?

This is why I think he is.

Coming into last season, we had a former rookie of the year running back who seemed healthy. We had a quarterback who had potential, and we had a scheme that didn't need a flashy running back.

We had a defense that has never had a good pass rush, and a defense that was just overall bad. One starter I can see on that past defense that deserves his spot (Dunta Robinson).

We had signed Eric Moulds across from AJ to help out our receivers, and we had the weapons.

We had a pro bowl returner in Jerome Mathis.

We were in more desperate need on the defensive side of the ball.

Still a smart decision at the time, and looking at the circumstances.

Little did we know:
DD wasn't healthy
Carr wasn't what we thought
Scheme needs talent to suceed
Mario Williams would play with hurt foot all year

So yes Reggie Bush could have been good to replace DD
And Vince Young could have taken Carrs place in the middle of the season and we could have seen what he would do.

But what we don't know:
Carr could become comeback player of the year
Texans could land Adrian Peterson

so that way, we will have a better qb, a better rb, plus mario williams.

So it still might make sense. Time till tell.

I don't get why people get so hyped about what someone said that they don't agree with...I see people losing their mind over stuff that matters very little on these boards when life commands more attention than stressing out over a rumor or what someone may feel is a false statement. I know we love our team and are "fanatics" but be for real. Grow up! Bottom line.

Now back to why MW is a Texan. From what I've heard on the radio and other rumors...is that Casserly wanted Bush but because he was no longer going to be here it was Kubiak's final decision to go with Williams instead of Bush thinking he had DD/W coming back the following season. You can tell by his recent comments of not determining this years' picks based on "if" someone will come back from injury ala Charles Spencer.

DatTexBoy don't trip on these iggnor anuses on this board you and everyone else has the right to their own opinion. Who knows you may be right no matter how outlandish the idea may sound to some. I did see some other people agree with you too!
