D-Ryans=Our defensive leader

HOU-TEX

Ah, Football!
Here's a recent quote from N.D. Kalu:

“D-Ryans, a young guy, called everybody together on the field and said, ‘Hey, we’re not going to give up. We’re going to hit them in the mouth.’ And even though they got that big return that hurt us, we still didn’t give up and we kept playing hard all the way.”
IMO, the defense will keep us in our seats in the future. A few more pieces to the puzzle and it will be complete. It's going to be sweet when it all comes together.
The Houston Texans defense=something to look forward to.

I think the defense could develop into a formidable unit as soon as next season. And in reality, it's probably our best chance at a winning season in the short term, considering how much work our offense needs right now.

We've got good players anchoring key positions, and I see all three becoming leaders over time. Ryans is special, though, in that he's got the drive that overcomes everything else. Hopefully he's a Texan for life.

The offense looked pretty smooth when stumbles sat during the Tenn game. The owner's head needs the work more than the offense.

figure this message doesn't get read since the regime of thin skins wouldn't allow open dissent. silent ban?

Well, to be fair, Sage was up against a soft cover 2 (almost prevent), which allowed him to make a lot of completions underneath.

I like Sage, though. He seems to have more presence in the pocket, which probably has been beaten out of Carr with hundreds of sacks in his first few years.

There are at least 2 things that need to happen in the offseason in order for us to have an elite defense, IMO.

1. We need to sign one of the following: Adalius Thomas, Nate Clement, Asante Samuel.

I would prefer Thomas and Samuel - Thomas for his versatility and Samuel for his winning demeanor - but I'll take one of the three just for talent's sake alone.

2. Draft Reggie Nelson or LaRon Landry

I would prefer Landry because he has proven himself on the field but you won't hear any complaining from me if we draft either.

Then, the only missing pieces will be a monster DT or 2 and a CB. That defense will win games for us for years.

D-Ryans = Team leader. Not just the defense.
I don't see it that way at all. Not that being chummy with one another is a necessary component for success (see '85 Bears) I think our offensive and defensive units are as fragmented as they've ever been. A layer deeper, the defense seems to be coming together from a teaming standpoint, but I haven't seen a lick of cohesiveness in our offensive units for as long as I can remember. O-line over here, QB over there, RBs and WRs in between... I think the O-line and Dayne are 'getting along' fine at the moment but that's about it.

DeMeco is without question the defensive leader of this team. One of the best young LBs I've seen in a while.

I hope we get an OLB in the offseason to pair with D-Ryans. Briggs, D-Ryans, Greenwood kind of looks good.
