Mathis on IR/D.Lewis Released

Who really cares what happened. Dude is injury prone personified, as track runners usually are. Durable he is not.

I posted this yesterday in another thread, but it bears repeating here.

I think that Jerome Mathis won't be on the roster next season. It seems like Kubiak gets more and more critical with every quote.

Not seeing more of Mathis is something that has frustrated Kubiak.

“Yeah, because I haven’t really been around him much as a football player, from a standpoint of seeing him very much,” Kubiak said. “We got him back and he did some good things that first week and he had the issue this week with the hamstring. It’s frustrating because I would like to see him on the field as a kick returner as well as a receiver. If he can’t go, he can’t go.”

Yes, but what he did see of him was a kick off return that almost went for a touchdown. . . He will be back next year, to many players will be gone to throw away one more that can produce.

We arne't even going to be able to recognize this team next year, but Mathis will be one player that we do.

Mathis may be injury prone, however he is someone that has a direct effect on games...something that cannot be said about alot of our roster.

Having Mathis gives us the ability to win at least 2 more games a year. In the NFL, 2 extra games won is worth the mere $300k we are paying him.

He will be back in a Texan uniform next year...healthy.

It depends on how you define produce. One long kick-off return in two games is pretty good.

One long kick-off return and nothing else for 16 games because you can't get healthy enough to be on the field is poor productivity.

There are many tough decisions to be made based on data that isn't clear. It is difficult to predict injuires, but his injury history is very not good. Do they gamble on his health or "invest" the roster spot differently?

Mathis must really be a punk. He goes out and runs one back all the way then says I'm done, hamstring. He doesn't want to earn his money is what I am thinking here. Kubiak seems to imply as much with his exasperated tone.

Charlie Adams was signed in place of D Lewis I don't know anything about him does anyone else know anything?

To be clear, I don't think Mathis has an of attitude problem that makes his injury worse than it is. I think he wants to be on the field and his body is letting him down.

...another former Bronco, 'nuff said....WR

I mean at this point, who cares about the signing being another Bronco.... it is irrelevant for a last string depth player in week 16 of the season. Kubiak and Smith are familiar with him, he knows the schemes probably a little bit in case of an emergency.

It is an easy signing for so late in the season.

I'll go out on a limb and say the Texans players who didn't come from Denver or Green Bay care. If they care, their friends and acquaintances who are going to be free agents might care too.

Word gets around; nothing happens in a vacuum. Franchises get reputations. Are the Texans a place where players want to play?
