WTF? Carr quote...

If this has been posted already, sorry for the repost (mods delete if you please), but I looked through the forums and didn't see anything about it.

QB David Carr

(on the possibility to finally beat the Colts) “Yeah, that would be awesome. It’s going to be sweet. I want to go out there and obviously I want to win, but they are trying to win the game too, right? And this week I think they might wrap up home field advantage and get to stay at home. Everyone knows that is obviously important. But we’re hungry too. It’s been a long time coming as far as playing these guys and feeling good about yourself when you leave. We definitely could use one.”

Please, somebody else tell me that you see problems with that sentence.

Yea, he sucks and he is no leader. What an embarrassment to the Texan organization. I like how he is giving up before the game has even been played. But he's a nice guy right.:tease:

you are taking it out of context.

he was saying it in the form of a question. As in, "This game is important to them too because I think they are trying to wrap up homefield advantage, arent they?".

Not "they are going to beat us and get homefield advantage"

Maybe i missing the point, but it sounds like he is talking about the Colts motivation to win the game. He is not sure of the Colts exact playoff status. Carr is not making a declarative statement of what will happen, but really asking a kind of rhetorical question.

Why don't we realize a little bit about the comment and put it in the context of Carr talking about the Colts desire to win this weekend? Or we could remain in the 7th grade talking about how every word that David Carr makes him like "the worst leader in all the NFL."

Funny in his after practice conference Kubiak made similar statements. I guess we had better question Kubiak as to why he would say such things....

Brilliant idea given the "we" you speak of is a resounding two members. It looks goofy, but is definitely in the context of why it is important for the Colts to win the game. Get a grip for the Texans by releasing the grip on Kubiak.

Ibar is still in the Fire Capers Club. One step at a time KT, baby steps, baby steps.

Sure, let's ask Kubiak. You call him and let me know what he says. I will be waiting since you seem to have a way to ask him that question. Waiting........

Very funny Vinny

I think at this point if you like or dislike carr there isnt much for fuel that needs to be added to these arguments. We are beating dead horses.

Let's talk about his play at QB and if we believe he can be the QB of the future. We all know how things can be taken out of context in publications.

i'd have to say that the quote was taken out of context. i don't care how bad your team is, no player in their right mind would say, "they are going to win." man, seems like carr can't even fart without coming off like he's trying to lose, or losing in some nature. pathetic. jmo.

David Carr: "Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays"

Fans: It's obvious the guy isn't focused on the next game. He's thinking about stuffing his face with holiday hams and buying expensive gifts with his 60 million dollar contract. He's already looking ahead to the offseason. Not a leader.

:)

Carr says: may i have a large with pepperroni?

fans hear: what's the easiest way to give away this game?

carr says: i love you honey.

fans hear: i hope the colts kill us.

HEY ... THATS WHERE I DRAW THE LINE ... LEAVE THE HOLIDAY HAMS OUTA THIS .

Still only two members who have erroneously commented without thinking of the context, yet there are more Carr fans perpetuating that notion on this thread. Very odd set of fans we have here, I wonder if they will stick around after the Cap man comes a calling for Carr.

look, carr needs to leave houston. i mentioned this in another thread, but carr isn't going to get a chance in houston. i mean, most fans who don't care for carr are going to read quotes by him the way they want to read them. i'm not giving a middle finger while writing this being that i'm a carr fan, but in sincerety. if you don't like the way a player is playing, you aren't going to go out of your way to see good in that player. just an observation.

I don't know Carr has played 5 years and around 75 starts. If you look around the NFL, teams aren't really in business of playing Qbs who have won less than 1/3 of thier career starts whether it is that guy's fault or not. Carr really had not gotten any real heat until he figured it was a good idea to throw 1 TD over 8 weeks. How much of chance should we give him?

In all due respect I totally disagree with you. He has been given a chance, unfortunately we had the C&C Football Factory doing the shot calling around here which really points to everything they did was the opposite of good. Why would anyone believe that Carr is the lone success story of that regime given their record?

When Carr has played well there have been plenty to call it out, and it has not been often. You see, as a TEXAN fan we want all of our players to play their role and develop. Carr needs to go for him and the other 52.

The C&C Football Factory? Everybody dance now.

you must spread it around before giving Kaiser Toro more reputation points.

i never meant that carr never got a chance to play good football in houston, it's that after 5 yeras of being what it has been (not good football) most texans fans, imho, are going to look and address things he does and says more negatively. i'm the first to say that carr hasn't played up to nfl par. i've called him out when he's been good and when he's played bad. i was just making a comment about how, i thought, his quote was mis-read. and i agree with you that carr needs to go...it would just be better for everyone.

I must have missed something. Carr played good? When? He has a few good quarters in a 5 year span but that is about it. Just because he was drafted #1 doesnt mean he is good.

OK this is the kind of thread that is bringing the MB down. A totally crap interpretation of a comment which then turns into a Carr debate. Great, like there weren't 10,000,000 others of those. Dude has enough problems with his game on the field to not have an innocuous statement off the field turn into another recap of a crud debate so old it has already turned back into grass and blown away.

he has played good, and this just proves my point. people who aren't "carr-homers" if that's what you want to call me, are going to see how he plays and it will never be good enough. he give a quote to a paper, and non carr-homers are going to read into it what they want. i'm just stating an observation.

i understand that. that's why i think he needs to leave and try somewhere else. i feel as though the front office and coaching staff hasn't done anything, in my opinion, to really aid him, but that's just me. what i was talkin' about is him going to have to go somewhere else to try and get the fans behind him again.

rather than get into a 'im right your wrong' argument, we will agree to disagree. Merry Christmas

You guys have some problems with how freaking defensive you get about Carr. My reasons for posting this was to point out his choice of words with the statement. I'm not a huge Carr supporter, but I am by no means a Carr hater either. I don't want him out, actually. I'd rather have Carr leading our team than most other quarterbacks that we could get right now. I didn't intend to start this debate; I just didn't read the sentence that way, and it caught me off guard.

Forgive me...

damn...yall are ridiculous... quit trying to find hte bad in everything he does. He is saying its going to be a hard game for they are trying to clinch homefield advantage. What the hell is wrong with that?

I heard he parted his hair to the left, JUST A RUMOR THOUGH!, but yall may wanna check that out...because you all know we don't need that in our quarterback...

I just ran Carr's quote through my secret decoder ring, and I've discovered that the truth is much worse than David giving up. He's actually sending the Colts our gameplan. Two runs up the middle and a two-yard pass to a WR. Dungy would have never guessed that.

I think Ibar is on to something regarding firing Capers. I think Dom should be fired, again. Casserly, too. Exorcised, maybe. Clearly just one firing was not enough. What about burning them in effigy at the tailgate prior to the Cleveland game? Their voodoo was strong, and I'm willing to try anything at this point.

Good point. The C&C Football factory was never truly rebuked by ownership for their miserable record with personnel decisions. Which to my untrained eye indicates ownership felt a certain culpability for these decisions as well.

Burning C&C in effigy without McNair would be like burning Fred and Barney in effigy while giving Hannah and Barbara a pass.

When was he directing himself to the media? Was this pre-Monday Night Football game versus Cincy? I think it is. Due to that, his statement in regards to "this week" was still valid as prior to Monday Night Football kick off....the week was still...."this week."

Not "they are going to beat us and get homefield advantage"

You might be asking way to much for them to.......well you know.
