Time to Start talking DRAFT!

IN a perfect situation for the texans we would be picking anywhere from 10-13. I think we should move down to the 15-18 pick and either pick up ILB ahmad brooks or marcus spears.
1. ahmad brooks or marcus spears- both players would fill huge gaps in the defense, and i'm starting to lean more toward brooks to replace foreman.
2. opposite of who we picked in the first, either a Ilb Rudd or another DE
2b. either a SS like brimmer or a running back maybe like ronnie brown.
This would fill tons of hole on our defense and still leave room for the offense with our two third round picks.

I think the run game should be priority number 1 this offseason. Whether it be O-line, RB, both. Id like to see Ronnie Brown and a defensive playmaker the first two rounds.

The running game would kill two birds with one stone. It would help limit the offensive possesions of our opponents and would increase the production of our offense. We need to get better up front and have a better rushing attack.

There's no way that the texans go offensive line and running back in the first round! Defense needs way more help than the offense.DT,DE,ILB,CB,SS, all need to be upgraded. The offensive line is just young on the left side, and needs to mature.

I'm sure many would've said there's no way we would've went for a CB and LB in the first round last year, but we did. I wouldn't put anything past CC and DC. If they feel that a move is right for the team then they do it.

Actualy everyone new that we were going to go cornerback in the draft, i guess you were the only one left out and when the texans traded up most people thought it was for a lineback, the only surprise was that it was babin.

I don't think Casserly has ever drafted a RB in the 1st round. I think S. Davis was 2nd or 3rd round and that was the highest Casserly has ever picked.. but i have been known to be wrong.

personally at this point I am not sure.. I think if an impact LB is there we get it or possibly an impact CB (face it Robinson is grooming for Glenn's job)

I keep thinking of what Casserly said once about there are always linemen in the middle rounds. Of course if NT Wright (texas) slips down we might take him.

what is nice is that the more Dallas loses the closer that the henson pick (3rd rounder) comes toward the 2nd round

I think it was conditional.. but i think it was only conditional based on him making the team and such.. dont think he had to start or anything for us to get the pick.

I see us picking an LB or a CB in the first round. Ive been saying Dlineman for a while now.. but its true that good lineman can be picked up in the middle rounds.

I tell ya what.. i love Babin.. but I sure would have liked to get DJ Williams this last draft.. he is something else. Anyway.. I do not think that foreman is a bad player.. i think he is a really good one.. but ive come around to the notion that we could use an upgrade at his position. he ISNT a real playmaker.. he is just a solid player.

SO.. I am hoping ILB in the first round. maybe Barrett Ruud?

I understand why many people are thinking the Texans should draft an ILB. However we have more important needs on the DL. Jay Foreman certainly isn't a playmaker but he's a pretty solid starter. We could live with him. We also need help on the OL, most probably a C, however there aren't any OL worth taking at the mid-first round, so we'll have to wait till the 2nd or 3rd round for an OL. As far as picking a safety, I think Marcus Coleman and Glenn Earl will do a great job. Maybe a backup safety in the late rounds, but that would be it.

It would be nice to see Derrick Johnson next to Sharper in the middle of the defense. Is DJ any good at rushing the passer? I apologize for not being informed. We really don't want to miss the next Ray Lewis type athlete.

Derrick Johnson will be nice, but I don't think he'll drop very far. I see him going within the first 8 picks or so and I don't think we'll be picking very high this year. This draft will be critical because we are expected to make the playoffs next year and we have to choose our players wisely. I know Robaire Smith and Gary Walker are here but we need to upgrade our pass rush desperately. Without any substantial pass rusher it is hard for our linebackers to make any plays. Therefore, I think a player like David Pollack can help us. I don't know if we have to convert him to an OLB, but the guy plays all out all day long. I'm pretty sure that we're going to draft defense first, but if we do go offense with our first pick then I think they should go RB or TE. Right now it's like we don't have TE's playing for us, they have disappeared for us. What's that guy Heath Miller? He's the best in the nation right now and he would add another option for our offense.

actually its a 5 year plan so we would be expected to reach the playoffs the year after next :)

I think we could afford to trade up for johnson. if we traded our 1st, 2nd, and 1 of our 3rds to move up and get Johnson.. that would still leave us a 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 2 7th round picks.

Johnson would solve our pass rush. and we can find good Dlinemen in the 3rd and 4th round.

We need playmakers right now.. and Johnson looks like the biggest playmaker on defense this year, to me.

The pick is NOT a conditional pick with Dallas. We get a 3rd round pick from them even if Henson throws for 5,000 yards, goes 6-0 down the stretch, and throws for 20 TD's.

If there is any possible way to trade up for Derrick Johnson that is definately the way to go. I've watched every college game he's played in and I guarantee he will be the biggest impact player in this draft. That said - I believe he will go in the first three picks, so I doubt we have a shot at him.

From the same team - I would love to see us pick up Bo Scaife in a late round. We should be able to get him in round 6 or 7 and I know it's risky but it could pay off big. If not for his knee injuries he would be going much higher. Assuming he stays healthy he should be a fairly productive receiver in the NFL.

There was speculation before the draft that we'd go for a DLineman as well as a CB. Early Mock Drafts had Udeze slated to go to us at the 10th pick. As I said in my post many people wouldn't have guessed we'd trade up into the first round on draft day after picking a CB with the 1st pick. If you've got a mock draft that shows the same scenario playing out that played out on draft day then please feel free to share. That's why its all speculation as to what we'll do this year as well.

up until a day or two before the draft.. it looked like we were gonna take a DE.. but at the very end there it seemed like it was pretty much settled that we would be grabbing a CB.

As for Derrick Johnson.. we need playmakers on defense and Johnson is the total package.. if it is at all possible for us to get him without giving EVERYTHING away.. then I hope we do it.
