Carr to the Raiders?

ATX

Hall of Fame
I'm going to assume that the Texans want to get rid of Carr after the season. Let's not argue about this point, let's assume this is correct. What do y'all think the chances are the Raiders would trade for him?

Raiders need a QB....they're not getting Quinn, why would they? They passed on Leinert and Cutler last year. I don't think they'll get Quinn even if he's there for the taking.

With this draft being so weak at QB and the FA being so weak at QB, I think they'd seriously consider Carr. I'd even go as far as to say they would offer a 3rd rounder for him. I just hope we would take an offer like that.

Why would he want to go there? Their O-line is about as bad as ours. You think he wants to be the crash-test dummy for the Silver and Black?

Carr is a California guy.....northern Cal at that. I think they'd gamble on Carr over Aaron brooks again. They need alot of positions filled and QB is one of their priorities.

I thought that this was just the kind of reach that Al Davis like to make. Until Carr passed for -5 against his team.

Well, no team will trade for a guy who has no intention of playing for them, unless they've already got a third team lined up to take him...

What other choices does Carr have really? Stink it up for another year in Houston and decrease his stock even more? Go to Oakland and hope for the best?

Atleast he'd be closer to home

Not really... Bakersfield is closer to LA - probably about 100 miles north...

I went to the Raider game a couple of weeks and hung out with a lot of characters you see on TV and read about.

I asked a lot of them what they thought of Carr. They basically could care less.

Al Davis does not what he wants, but there really isn't fan support from what I saw to take on Carr. Some actually laughed about it and thought Carr would have an even tougher time due to their line problems.

I seriously doubt Carr would go to the Raiders, particularly with their line problems as well. But, that is assuming McNair would part ways. That isn't going to happen. The flag is planted.

Where would Carr "fit in"?

Tampa?
Carolina?
Detroit?
Minnesota?
KC-Green isn't a spring chicken anymore.

My head hurts.

Since this is hypothetical and a lot of fun....

I could see him in Minnesota. Better line, and a better running game. Less emphasis on him having to do something great and more on just moving the chains.

Tampa has Simms.....not sure what will become of him or if he plays again.

Carolina has an aging Delhomme, they could sit Carr for a year.

Detroit will probably draft Quinn.....they already had Harrington, don't know if they'd want Carr.

Minnesota might be a good fit. Plus Carr lit it up against them, maybe they remember.

KC has Huard, but he's aging. Green is aging too. I think they'd make Carr sit a year.

He has no say in the matter. And Carr's not the type of guy to be confrontational about it. If he's dealt, he's going.

I'm sure he'll be happy to get out of Houston. If he stinks it up the next 2 games bad......he'll be booed out of Houston.

Carr has lots of family in the area, and I think Kubiak and co. are going to come out of this year with the same rotating door philosophy: if we could only fix the o-line...

For that reason, I could see the Texans taking a serious look at the o-line during the offseason, and Carr staying through his contract.

How about Carr to Oakland with our 2008 1st round and third round for their 2008 1st round? Basically, they get Carr & our third and we swap 1sts. They use their first 2007 on Thomas and 2nd round in 2007 on another O lineman. That would resolve OL. Carr would be in Cali with less heat as no VY issue. With this trade we would pray hard that Spencer comes back @ LT and we select AP this season and go for Colt McCoy in 08.

I don't think McCoy can come out until 09.

2007 this year he is true freshman i believe
2008 sophomore
2009 junior

but back to Carr...

Oakland
Detroit
Minnesota
Cleveland
Carolina

how about carr to the dolphins for culpepper and we can watch the pathetic joey harrington beat out the even more pathethic david carr for the starting spot

We will be lucky to get a 1st DAY pick for Carr. I'd take a 3rd right now for someone to take his salary off the cap. Sure we will have dead money, but it is time to move on.

Colt McCoy is too small.

I dealt Carr to OAK on madden...for the #2 pick...draft Peterson and Thomas in round 1 :D

in the nfl draft on franchise, carr is also on the raiders..

the only thing i knew was that porter isnt too happy in oakland, but i dont think they'll give us porter, instead like a 3rd rounder at the most

Never know. Al Davis is old and stupid now.

I could see the Raiders taking Carr...

Anyone remember what happened to the Raiders the last time they picked up a former 1st round QB from a bad team that no one thought could play???????????

Does the name Jim Plunket ring a bell?

Carr said in an interview that he grew up watching the Raiders. He would probably feel right at home playing in Oakland, although he would have to ditch the Dodger's cap.

I believe he has some say in the matter.

nope, he has no say whatsoever. he can make waves and lower his value if he pouts about it, but he unequivocally does not have a no trade clause. if he doesnt show up to Raiders camp, he doesnt get paid and could have to give back a large portion of the signing bonus that was paid by the Texans (although the Texans would still be on the hook for it cap-wise) Our best bet is to make him hold a clipboard next year and then trade/release him towards the end of the next calendar year

My thought would be to Trade Carr, Putzier, to the raiders, for swapping of first round pick. The raiders will be 1 or 2. You can either get quinn, or a monster o-tackle and sure up the o-line. I would also bring Plummer in to replace carr. Plummer can give you an above 500 season until quinn is ready. Payroll will go down to sign D-free agents. Just my 2 cents

This wouldn't even work in Madden much less real life.

Funny you say that. I was going to create a new Franchise in Madden tonight and she what his trade value would be worth.

Just curious, what do you REALLY think we could get for him if a trade was made?

J

Why not? They need a QB badly, Al is not patient enough to wait on a rookie, they need a TE bad, with the recievers they have, the qb just needs to be average. Dropping 7 spots to get a QB and TE is not a big deal. Maybe the players other than Carr change, but it is a deal that could be done.

With a -5 yard passing performance against them, they're surely not interested.

If you look below there are 7 reasons why they would take carr in a heartbeat

16 Andrew Walter OAK 1677 276 147 3 13 51 55.8

8 David Carr HOU 2681 427 293 11 11 53 83.3

The payroll would actually do the opposite if we swap for the 1st or 2nd pick. You're gonna have a to fork over a lot of guaranteed money for that high of a draft pick.

I see us lucky to get a 3rd or 4th rounder out of Carr. To move from the 8th overall drafting position to the 2nd would take our 2008 1st and more. BTW, Putzier has no trade value. If we don't want him, he will have to be cut.
