This type of loss no longer acceptable

The Texans could get away with this **** the past couple of years and we could be satisfied that they gave a game effort against a better team. However, this doesn't fly anymore.

I am tired of us trying to hold on to slim leads and playing so damn conservative that we lose at the end. How many times did that happen last year and we have this.

Our offensive line is terrible. I wouldn't mind seeing none of these jokers come back. DD is not a franchise back and we need to draft one. He has been terrible all year. David Carr was not on his game last night either and held on to the ball too long sometimes.

As for the coaching, our offensive playcalling in the 2nd half was atrocious. We need to give David the ability to audible to a play other than a run up the middle. He needs to be accountable for the back to back audibles in the 4th quarter.

It still ticks me off that we can't get a decent pass rush from the 3-4 even when we blitz. The D wasn't the problem last night and they held GB to enough points for us to win.

This game was terribly disappointing and I am a little down on this team. I would like to see wholesale changes on the O and D lines and on the coaching staffs.
 
I would not be surprised to see the Texans draft defense first and then try to pick up a quality RB in the 2nd round.

DD is injury prone as is Hollings. Maybe Wells needs more of a look.

If I am not mistaken, Carr has 10 4th quarter wins in 2.5 years. Not bad. That said, this one WAS lost in the 4th by overly conservative play/play calling.

so its fair to judge DD as a "terrible" back while running behind a "terrible" o-line? was wells our first thousand yard rusher, or was it stacey mack? maybe james allen? can't remember, but i do know each feature back in the texans short history has run behind comprable lines and i say go with the one who has the most success......which is..........thought so. i say verdicts out on DD midway through next season, no need to address the RB "problem" with draft picks that could give whoever's in the backfield a chance at a 4 ypc average.
 
Take 2002's running game and between the dominating Jonathan Wells (529 yards on 197 attempts) and the elusive James Allen (519 yards on 155 carries) and you are in the neighborhood of Domanick Davis "breakout" season (1031 yards on 238 carries).

Yes they took more carries to get there and yes they lacked his recieving ability but when we're talking about getting yards on the ground Domanick Davis has proven to be at best a very average runningback.

Hey in 2000 Allen did 1120 by himself. Mack was able to nearly equal Davis' 4.3 yards a carry average from last season when he ran for 877 yards in 2001 with Jacksonville.

Davis has admittedly had the most "success" (hard as it might be to apply that word to any runningback that's taken the field for us) but lets not go getting all that excited about it just yet. He's the best of a backfield that's featured 4th round rookies, journeymen, want to be's, and ghosts (Hollings must be a ghost, he's invisible right?).

We need a back and we need to figure out why the offensive line is incapable of making the zone blocking scheme work. If that can't be fixed we need to go back to what we were doing last season.

my thougths exactly....but we should revert back right now and try and salvage as much as we can this year. i don't see sticking with a zone scheme, that only one team has perfected, and is for all intents and purposes is inept in houston. if the texans go back to last year's scheme and DD isn't effective then he's up for any and all judgement. if anything it would make last weeks game film useless and give the opposing defense a relatively "fresh" look come game time.
 
i like DD and i think he is a great back. but i just cant see him being the future back for us as a long term answer. we need a big work horse who can get us those tough yards and not fumble. cmartin, cdillon - someone along those lines where we can work them hard. i would not be upset if we used a 2nd on someone who can carry this team on their backs. if need be, take away this zone blocking....im not exactly cheering about its success
 
IMO,The Texans are on the cusp of having a really good team.I was impressed with the play of Carr,he has come a long way.The D was playing well,but seemed a little tired at the end.In the 2nd half the Texan offense had too many 3 and outs which explains why the D was tired.Who ever is calling the plays needs to step up and take some chances,especially with our
defense.After GB tied the score,the Texan offense went flat.Most of that play calling would have worked if you were ahead by 20.Just a few tweeks and the Texans will be a team to recon with.I really like watching your team,and like the direction you are going.Hang in there.

True,however,GB played the last 2.5 qtrs pretty much w/o any running backs. Green left early,Davenport was out,Fisher got banged up...Williams left hurt and Luchey got hurt.

I have to think if Green or Davenport play it's a differnet story. Or maybe not.
