Texans coach in line for job
Interview with Calhoun today

Foxborough, Mass. - Houston Texans offensive coordinator Troy Calhoun is emerging as a leading candidate to replace Fisher DeBerry as head coach at Air Force.
Calhoun, who is in his first season with the Texans, is interviewing at Air Force today.
AFA officials contacted Texans coach Gary Kubiak on Friday, and he granted them permission to interview Calhoun, who played quarterback for DeBerry.
Calhoun, 40, also was a graduate assistant and recruiting coordinator for the Falcons.
"I know how Troy feels about him (DeBerry), and I think if he wants the job, it would be a great opportunity for him," Kubiak said after the Texans' 40-7 loss to New England. "I was told it's important to Coach DeBerry that he (Calhoun) gets that job."
DeBerry, 68, was the Falcons' coach for 23 years and retired with a 169-109-1 record.
"I certainly wouldn't stand in Troy's way," Kubiak said. "He'd do an outstanding job. I want what's best for my coaches, and I'll do whatever I can to help them."
Calhoun, who came to Houston from the Broncos with Kubiak, hadn't spoken to anyone from Air Force as of Sunday after the game.
"They talked to Gary, not me," Calhoun said. "I'm still in denial about Coach DeBerry not being there. He had an incredible run.
"Air Force is an incredible place with a clear mission. It stands for integrity. There are just so many good things about it. They have special players with a unique responsibility and an extraordinary competitiveness."
Calhoun said it would be hard to leave the Texans, even though they lost Sunday by 33.
"It would be hard to leave because I've got an obligation here," he said. "My family loves it in Houston. We've only scratched the surface here. If they (Air Force officials) want to talk to me, I'd be happy to do it. I'm happy to help them in any way I can."
