we are a lot better than you guys think

we started the season 1 and 4 and every game we lost were blowouts. since then we are 3 and 5 with only 1 loss over 6 points. of the 4 games we lost by 6 or less, 1 was in ot, 1 was in the last seconds of the game, 1 game we were driving for the winning td and fumbled, and 1 we turned the ball over the entire first half before coming back and losing. if we just win to of those games we are 6 and 7.

if you took out our first 5 games our scoring defense would ave out to be 7th in the league. thats also considering how porous our offense is and they have given up some of those points off turnovers. i can think of two dc fumble returns for td's. so i think our defense could possible be very good next year. especially if the offense improves.

then you have our offense which should be better just because of the better line play im assuming we will have. we have had 3 starters go down and should get at least 1 draft pick to throw into the mix. no matter who starts carr or someone else the qb play should be better because of improved line play. basically an improved line should improve every aspect of our team.

i think you guys our overreacting because of some bad losses. this team should threaten for a playoff position next year. and ive never been so bold as to predict a winning record for this team but next year we should make a huge jump. wait and see.

In the stretch of games you are talking about, we haven't played a good offense. Definitely haven't played a good passing offense.

Dallas, Jax, Tenn, NYG, Jax, buff, Jets, Oak, Tenn.....

We've been fortunate that the Teams we've played dropped as many passes as we've defended well....

of the games we've lost, you're right, a coin toss here, a bad call not made there, a TD instead of a FG, or a FG made and not missed...... we could've won several more games this year.


But NewEngland & INdy can't wait to see our secondary......

I hope they make the play offs next year too. I think they are a few years away though. They need to draft a bad a@! SS.

im not whining about the past. im just pointing out that we are better than we were at the first of the year and we should be better next year than we are now(espesially if we have another draft like we had last year). and if we are better next year than now and we get a few breaks that we didnt get this year we could very well be a playoff contender.

in football thats somewhat overrated. we start winning a few games the team gets some confidence and all the sudden we are a bunch of winners that found their winning attitude.

I was talking about adopting the country club mentality .

I remember Ray Childress had his own radio show in the 90's . If the Oilers lost Ray was a bear . The calls went like this.

Hello Ray I'm a big fan ... your my favorite player .

Ray ... Thanks .

Yea Ray ... how you don't get more pressure on the QB ?

Ray ... I don't know .

Ed fowler ... Ray you think ya'll should blitz more ?

Ray ... i don't know .

Ed ... Ray the Browns are a good team .

Ray ... you don't have to be very good when we play like little leaguers .
 
we played harder teams early in the year hence the blowouts

we've played easier teams in the 2nd half hence the closer loses

I always chuckle when people say "we are better than our record" lol
wins are all that matters........as long as we have Carr we will be terrible

once you are out of the playoffs wins dont matter anymore. what matters is how well your team is coming together and you cant always tell that by wins and loses. and we played jags twice, jets, giants, buffalo, and tenn twice who is playing as good as anyone right now. those teams dont look like pushovers to me.

I haven't read to the end of the post, but I totally disagree. Are you kidding? Do you listen to their quotes? Are you deaf? I don't get it. If you think there is ONE guy on that team that doesn't want to win, you have lost it. They are young, but they are fired up, and it will work.

In tough times like these we also find some "diamonds in the rough" so to speak...like Ron Dayne these last few weeks. I think he'll be an excellent back-up or perhaps starter next year now that he's healthier. Leach has been a nice surprise too, and a crushing blocker!

I like that the fact that the team still is fighting and playing hard despite all the injuries. C'mon give Mario a break...he will be a monster in the future! I'm really looking forward to the draft and what happens in free agency. A fast turn around is possible...just look at New Orleans!:marionaner:

"A winning attitude/killer instinct" is a much higher level of dedication, concentration, and pure willpower than "wants to win".

There is an intensity to players like LT, Tom Brady, Ray Lewis, etc. They have a will that imposes itself on others to focus on nothing but playing to win. I agree that this team does not have it right now, but I do think it will happen over time. I see it in Kubiak's attitude, and the intensity we need often starts at the top. He'll put together a team that reflects that determination to win.

nicely put. football more than any other sport depends on coaching. i think we have a good one.

this isnt baseball where one individual cant make a difference because each
individual is totally seperated from the other players on the field.

its not basketball where the coach basically does nothing but decides which players or on the court. and one player can force his will(mj) on the team.

its football and you have to have all players playing together as a team to win. one player cant decide a game. you could have a great qb but if his line dont block he cant win the game. you could have a great defense but if his offense cant score it will usually equal a loss. its a team game and you need a good oganazation from the ground up to be succesfull.

and i think we are on our way.
