Henson is in

well that was quick. Dallas OL didn't block and he got hit as he was doing a playaction pass and fumbled..

He doesn't look so bad after that fumble. He looks better than I expected and certainly better than what Vinny was doing.

Drew was 6 for 6 for 47 yards and a TD

Dallas OL stunk it up.

Drew looked good. He was poised and made good, acurate throws.

I can't wait for the Parcell's interview now. I am sure some reporter is going to mention the "H" word and "starter" in the same sentence and just want to hear Parcell's reaction. Should be good.

and I forgot.. he had a key 3rd and 7 Qb Draw to pick up the 1st down so they could score the TD.. Not to shabby

In his press conference, he's saying how we made some mistakes, didn't convert some scores we could have to get up more than 3-0... But the tone of his voice is entirely different than it has been. He's almost trying to sound mad, but you can tell he's encouraged.

And I think we all know why.

THE NEW COWBOY ERA HAS BEGUN!

Drew Henson - 6/6 47 yards and a Touchdown
Julius Jones - 81 yards on 30 carries against the Ravens

I'll take it!

It wasn't just Drew Henson's stats (which were great). It was HOW he put them together. Think about what he did in that one drive. A couple of times, he showed great pocket awareness and stepped up into the pocket when the ends were crashing hard to the outside. He had a couple of nice scrambles, showing that he can move some, including that QB draw, where it looked like he had some pretty good wheels. His passes always seemed to be right on the money, and they got there right now (good velocity on those throws). And they weren't just rinky-dink, dink-and-dunk, short-and-safe, "we're going to take it easy on the rookie QB" throws either. One was a nice 15-20 yard clutch completion to Quincy Morgan on third down. The TD pass came off a nice play-action fake.

And the biggest thing was what Moose touched on near the end of the drive. Henson ALWAYS looked poised, and ALWAYS had great command of his huddle. A rookie QB, getting his first action of his career, coming into a game late, against one of the most-feared defenses in the league, in a situation where they KNOW he's going to pass, and coming and showing as much poise as he did, and looking as sharp as he did, well that just spoke volumes to me.

No doubt he will struggle at some point, but that drive made me think that maybe he won't struggle as much as we might think. MAYBE we even have another Roethlisberger on our hands (doubtful, but it could happen--lightning could strike twice). It's hard not to feel anything but unbridled optimism after watching Henson's performance today.

As far as who starts on Thursday, I think Henson has punched his own ticket. The injury to Vinny will give Parcells an excuse to start Henson. And by Parcells' own criteria (remember, he likes QBs who move the team down the field and SCORE--Henson did both, Vinny did neither) Henson has earned himself more playing time. I wouldn't put it past Parcells to start Vinny on Thanksgiving, just to show the fans HE'S still in charge and we're not, but I think even HE has to feel a little bit excited about what he saw out there today. Maybe he'll even want to see a little more of it. And if I had to guess, I'd say Henson starts on Thanksgiving, but only under the guise that Vinny isn't healthy enough to start yet.

Man, my fingers hurt

Well Henson looked good against a good defense and that's all good but the Cowboys have a ton of problems on the defensive side. They BETTER have a good draft along with a good FA player or two or they'll be right back winning the same amount of games for the next few years.

I mean they've gotten rolled 3 weeks in a row.

It was mop-up duty but it's something to build on. I still would not want him starting Thursday (3 days to prepare for your first start?). Wait 'till after Turkey Day...let him get 10 days to get ready.

It was garbage time, but for a guy that was playing baseball for the last 3 yrs he looked good. I wish we had gotten a conditional pick for him. This might actually be a move by the Jerah Jonz that actually works out.

The pokes are 3-7. Why does it matter if he only has three days to prepare? It's not like they are going anywhere. I say let him play.

Well here's a very optomistic view of the Cowboy's winning out. And ending up with a 9-7 record. It could happen:

Very Winnable:
-BEARS
-WASHINGTON
-@Giants

Not out of reach:
-@ Seahawks (This one might have been a "no way" but their not playing well this year)
-SAINTS (Not familiar with the saints)

Anything can happen- Any given Sunday:
-@ Eagles

Weather bulliten: Hell has just frozen over, and pigs are reported to be flying over the DFW metro area. More reports as they become available. Now back to your regularly scheduled programming.

Dream on.....

P.S. I'll be at the Seahawks - Cowboys game (December 6).

Because he'll have enough distractions with it being his first career start (if he is named the starter). Better to have a full week (or longer since we'll have the extra time) to prepare and get everything else out of the way.

It has nothing to do with giving the Cowboys a better chance to win. It's about putting Henson in the best situation as possible in order for him to succeed.

Henson doesn't look so good to me. Threw a interception for a Chicago TD. And he's missed some open receivers. I don't know if that's to be expected or he should be doing better because I don't know anything about Chicago's defense being a good one or bad one.

But they seem to have found a RB. Jones looks good.

I think Henson needs more than a half to determine if he's going to be a good QB in the league or not. I don't get Bill Parcells at all. They're not going to even sniff the playoffs so let Drew play. If he sucks so be it. At least you gave him a chance. He had a good few plays last week and some bad ones this week. So nothing has been decided.

And I was wrong about Jones. He looks like a pretty good RB. I considered that pick a bust. But he's popped off some nice runs today. And he's quick.

Bill Parcells is alienatiing the fans as well as the players. He will have to put Henson back in sometime and his confidence is not going to be there nor will the confidence from the players.

There just comes a time when you just have to say that we need to take a step beck to take a step forward. That will be Parcell's failure.

They brought Vinny in and won the game, but will they win the war? Not with Vinny.

The fans were hostile last night as much as I have ever seen at the Boys games. What happened to Americas Team?

Ya need to stop considering injured guys busts. That will solve that. ;)

Yea, That definitely was not one of my Einstein moments. I seriously thought JJ was not going to play this year based on some things I'd read and heard. But I was wrong. The kid looked good and he's quick. That's something that's been sorely missing in the Cowboys running game and offense.

In the NFC if they win two or three of the next games (not sure what their schedule looks like) they MIGHT be in the hunt for a wildcard. If that happens, Bill will stick with Vinny. If not, then Henson may get some more time in the last 2-3 games. They need him to play to determin if he will be able to make it or not before they go to the draft. He looked like what he is last night, a rookie that really hasn't played in 3 years, but heck, that's what rookies look like. Up one game, down the next. JJ looked good, lots of quickness and seemed to have good downfield speed to. Showed some strength a couple of times. Might be what they were looking for.

Even as poor as the NFC teams are showing this year I don't think the Cowboys have a prayer of being in the playoffs.

I'll go along with the Henson thing though. They need to find out if Henson can play and 2 quarters is not adequate to do that. I hope Bill is not so stubborn that he will not play the guy when a game is out of hand or they are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs.

Troy Aikman played in 11 games in 2000 and the C'boys went 5-11.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/games/AikmTr00.htm

Aikman retired and the rebuilding started in 2001. The C'boys are half way through the 4th year of their rebuilding program.

I think Henson has a shot at being a good player. He has good size, arm strength, athleticism. If the C'boys get some good players around him and give him some experience, they should have a competitive team (one that could play toe to toe with the Eagles, Steelers, Patriots, type teams) in a few years.

That would be good. It was embarrassing to watch the futility of the C'boys in the first half and to hear the fans booing the team. The NFL is better off when the C'boys have a reasonable team.

I was happy that Henson had an opportunity to start on yesterday, and am delighted that he kept us in the game while starting. However, I wasn't a part of the booing crowd when Parcells made the halftime adjustment. Aye, this is still a business.

Perhaps Henson is our quarterback for the future, and I sincerely hope that he is, but I thought that it was time for an adjustment at halftime. Henson has lots of potential and toughness, and hopefully over time, his skills will continue to develop.

Hopefully, Henson won't become a shrinking violet if he doesn't become the a work in progress for the rest of the season. Although we might not get into the playoffs, we don't have to throw in the towl now if there is a chance that we can be competitive for the rest of the season. Also, I believe Henson's situation is quite different from the other rookies since he had very limited playing time in college and since, but even if he's now an old chunk of coal, he can be a diamond some day.

2 days worth of reps with the 1st team. Wasn't enough time to prepare...like I said earlier. Hopefully he'll be named the starter against Seattle and he'll have a little more time to get ready.

Their secondary is going to be quite a test though.

I think I read somewhere today while surfing the net that Vinny has already been named the starter for Seattle.

Geez that was a great game last Thursday. It definetly puts Dallas back in the hunt. All the teams on Sunday in the wildcard race lost EXCEPT for Minnesota.

If the Packers beat the Rams tonight, Dallas is only one game behind the wildcard leader.

Here's the teams that are in the wildcard race:

Rams- 5-5
Giants- 5-6
Dallas- 4-7
Chicago- 4-7
Detroit- 4-7
Carolina- 4-7
New Orleans- 4-7
Tampa Bay- 4-7
Arizona- 4-7

Now that Dallas has an awesome running back which completes Parcell's formula of winning, you got to wonder what this Dallas team can do for here on out.

I'm really impressed with CB Fraziers progress. He's been a suprise.

I still don't think the Cowboys will even sniff the playoffs this year. I see way too many holes in this team to be successful in any post season games. Jones did look good last week though. That was a bright spot as the running game hasn't been very good this year.
